I know I’ve been on hiatus from MLP art for,,,about eight months now and folks are starved for next gen content from me. For that I am truly sorry; Smiling Friends has just had such a chokehold on me that ponies have sort of fallen to the backburner. I don’t want to go back to only drawing ponies because I just love those smiley guys so much. But also, when I draw Smiling Friends art I feel like there are some hooved creatures missing from my life. So, I have come up with a solution.
Introducing the Smileverse!
A crossover next gen where Smiling Friends and My Little Pony characters come together in harmony…for the most part. This will solve my problem of being torn between two fandoms by putting both of them into one project!
I have not finalized any fankids yet but here are some of the ships I have chosen:
Pim Pimling x Queen Chrysalis - Perhaps the most deeply in love of all the couples here. Thinking it a bit cruel to trap the villains in stone, Discord and the princesses decided to let them out and put them in intensive rehabilitation programs. Pim was chosen to help Chrysalis, as he has plenty of experience with helping creatures see the bright side of life even in dire circumstances. Little did anyone know how inseparable the two would become. To everyone’s surprise, Chrysalis completely gave up on all plans of world domination, deciding that this little pink critter was all she needed. Pim found himself the father to a whole hive of changelings grubs, more than he could have ever dreamed. They both give each other an endless supply of love and could not be happier. Don’t worry about Pim he’s fine.
Charlie Dompler x Rainbow Dash - Initially bonded over their professed values of loyalty and shared senses of humor, things eventually went south for the two when their headstrong personalities began to clash. The Smiling Friends and Mane 6 could only watch in horror at the colossally messy divorce before them, placing bets over who was more at fault (most say it was Rainbow Dash). Now they’ve moved on to other lovers and insist up and down that they loathe each other…which couldn’t be less truthful. After the fallout of divorce settled down, Charlie and Rainbow found their hearts drawing back together and longing for the good times. But they can’t have each other, the damage is done, what would everyone think? All they can do is hope their rebounds snap them out of it, which is hard considering who they chose.
Allan Red x Pinkie Pie - Not everyone would expect Allan or Pinkie to be drawn to personalities so unlike themselves. Allan values a life of organization and privacy, yet Pinkie is chaotic and up in everyone’s business. Pinkie has boundless energy and seems more likely to go for someone who matches that, but she picked a guy who speaks in a flat tone and keeps to himself. Surprisingly, they work out really well. Pinkie knows practically everything about everyone and especially knows how to make Allan smile, even when it’s sometimes on the inside. He likes having someone who knows him this well without him having to express it, and he’s happy to engage in some of her interests to brighten her day. They truly are the smiling friend to each other’s smiling friend.
Glep x Celestia - Celestia has been around a long time. Although she has had her share of love stories in the past, she knows none of them will last as fate will always pull them apart in the end. It’s rare to meet someone who is immune from the trappings of mortality and also not an adversary to her country. That’s not even considering the normal things one looks for in a partner like intelligence and humor. Enter Glep, a green little critter who has also been around awhile, who has experienced love and loss yet still remains silly. This is exactly what Celestia has always looked for. Glep too, has always longed for another being with his longevity. After he became single again, they got together as the couple whose love and silliness could truly defeat time itself.
Mr. Boss x Starlight Glimmer - The Boss of Smiling Friends, despite running a company dedicated to helping others, hides a lot of darkness deep within his psyche. Nobody can really describe it except through his manifesto, which only scratches the surface of his quest for…oh god why would anyone write this? He loves his company and his boys but he clearly desires power of some sort. Starlight, despite being reformed, struggles with a deep-seated need for control too, even using her own magic to its ends. She’s one bad influence away from backsliding into evil…and Mr. Boss is that bad influence. As a duo, both of them profess that their main goal is to spread cheer, and they both mean it in their own ways. But they are also a danger to society. Moral of the story: Don’t introduce Starlight Glimmer to firearms.
