Brooke Rockwell and Carrie Bradshaw
Hookups: Carrie has her fair share to the point and Brooke initially doesn’t seem like the type but we do know she and Kelso had sex in the bathroom at a Molly Hatchet concert. We have Betsy as proof of it.
Literary-inclined: Carrie is an author. Brooke was valedictorian and works at a library. So their reading material might differ (in fact, Carrie would align more with Jackie on this front), but Carrie also released her own book and if there’s anyone from the show to do that, it’s Brooke.
Sex Advice: That is what Carrie does for a living anyway. Brooke also offered her wisdom to Eric when he tried to take out some “suggestive” magazines, telling him that Donna was enough for him. Sounds like good advice to me!
Laurie Forman and Samantha Jones
Sex Positive: They both have sex. They both love sex. And they both refuse to be shamed for it. They used men for a variety of purposes but love was rarely one of them. They’ve both been the affair behind the wife’s back. Neither seemed to have remorse for it either. But that’s not their problem.
Silver Tongue: They know how to get their way. They possess sharp wit and the ability to absolutely obliterate their enemies if they wanted. They can also read the room and perform for an audience, like Laurie does whenever she is around her parents.
The Extra Mile: Granted, we didn’t see Laurie forge any lasting friendships with the group. Samatha, on the other hand, was by leaps and bounds the best friend in that quartet. Sam was the one who removed Carrie’s diaphragm for her. Laurie’s greatest sacrifice? Marrying Fez to keep him from being deported, of course.
Donna Pinciotti and Miranda Hobbes
Career-Oriented: They both pride themselves in what they do. Miranda is a lawyer and Donna is a DJ; both have to be head-strong and work twice as hard to get recognized in a man’s world.
Cat Lady: Being independent doesn’t mean that they’re lonely. They both have a soft spot for kitties. Miranda’s companion was Fatty and Donna’s was Mr. Bonkers (before Eric accidentally ran him over).
Feminist: And proud of it! They will also be sure to make their fellow woman stronger by telling them want they need to hear, whether they like it or not (like when Miranda enforced a boundary when Carrie wanted to meet with Big or when Jackie asked for Donna’s opinion on her relationship with Kelso).
Jackie Burkhart and Charlotte York
True Love: Some may call it naïve or even foolish. But Jackie and Charlotte pride themselves as eternal optimists when it comes to their happily ever after. They both have planned their weddings before they ever even thought of the grooms.
Ultra Feminine: Who says being girly is a bad thing? They love make up. They love fashion. They love cute boys. They love shopping. Whatever they do, they make sure they look good doing it.
The Finer Things: they want a certain lifestyle and will do anything to get it. They both also have an eye for interior design. Charlotte created her dream home (well, apartment) and Jackie made it her mission to turn Hyde’s bedroom into a mini Jackified suite.
Eric Forman and Steve Brady
Nerdy: Yeah, they’re nerds. Whether their passion of choice is basketball (Steve) or Star Wars (Eric), they prove their knowledge and interest to the extreme. For many, this would be a turn-off but for their respective red-heads, this is endearing.
Child’s Play: They can both be immature and childish, not thinking about the long-term effects of the choices they make. They can also both be clingy. Steve insisted Miranda stay in bed with him (even when their schedules conflicted) and Eric insisted Donna wear his promise ring.
Mama’s Boy: They both have a soft spot for their mamas. It’s also a lot for their partners to deal with. Steve’s mom doesn’t make it easy for Miranda, who has to take in her mother-in-law when her mind starts to go. Eric’s mom sometimes seems to compete with Donna for Eric’s attention and affection.
Michael Kelso and “Mr. Big”
Womanizer: They like the ladies. Perhaps a bit too much. This would be one thing if they were honest about not wanting long-term relationships. However, both spent years in a relationship essentially stringing someone along, someone who expected commitment. They’ve both proven to be cheaters as well.
Drop Dead Gorgeous: Perhaps this is why women flock to them like flies. Aesthetically, they are handsome men. Even men like Stanford and Fez could see it.
Too Late: Somewhere deep, deep, deep down, there is a brain and a conscience. Too bad they only find it when it’s too late. Whether it’s Big finally deciding he wants to marry Carrie or Kelso realizing he wants to be a father… they could have saved themselves a lot of trouble if they thought with the right head.
Fez and Harry Goldenblatt
Acquired Taste: In fact, at first, both these men were regarded as repulsive by the women they were initially attracted to. However, once they are accepted, they can surprise you. Fez apparently was a skilled kisser. Harry too was described by Charlotte to be the best lover she ever had.
Fall Hard: They’re definitely one-woman men, at least when they set their sights on one. Harry treated Charlotte like a Queen. Whether it was Caroline, Rhonda or Nina, Fez did everything he could to keep them in his life (unless they were crazy or he listened to Casey Kelso).
Non-Toxic Masculinity: Both Harry and Fez can be described as being in touch with their feelings. They’re also not afraid to be in touch with their more feminine sides. Harry was surrounded by girls (his wife, his daughters, Elizabeth Taylor the dog) and Fez was the “2nd girliest” in his gang after Jackie (even before Donna).
Steven Hyde and Smith Jarrod
Ladies Man: there’s something about them – maybe it’s the hair? Smith had women competing to be his last customer when he was a waiter. Hyde notoriously avoided relationships like the plague. He was a free agent. Smith, on the other hand, needed a free agent.
Creative Outlet: one chose acting, the other chose music. Either way, they both clearly had a passion for artistic expression. They were both also fortunate to have people to catapult them into the career of their choice, whether that’s their romantic partner or their newly-found bio-daddy.
Personal Cheerleader: only one was a literal cheerleader. Smith and Hyde were both blessed have Sam and Jackie in their lives to give them the push they needed to succeed. Sure, for Sam, it was her job. But for Jackie, she made it her job in all she did – driving a suit to her beau at work or introducing her “no-nonsense” Sagittarius to potential job recruiters.
