Eris and His Smokehounds
I have no idea what the SJM's intentions are for Eris, but if for some reason he goes a route where he's utterly villainized by the story (a la Tamlin, more or less), it was a dire mistake to give him smokehounds.
Think about it. Usually in books, a character with a pet is a good indicator of them being not completely evil. Because if the pets are taken care of and not being outright abused, they're generally loved by their owner, which shows compassion on the character's part.
Just knowing how people in the real world feel about their fur babies, I can't imagine readers would take it well if Eris turns out to be a total douchebag. Oh, sure, he's conniving and manipulative, but that's more out of survival than anything. He's been shown to care about his mother's wellbeing, too. While he doesn't do outright good, it's his lack of doing bad that also speaks to what an interesting character is.
All to say that it if Eris turns out to be a total villain (though, at this moment, I don't really see it), then it was a foolish decision to make him a pet parent, which automatically assigns him some compassionate traits.

Don't cross Eris or it may come back to bite you! I hope that we get to see more of Eris and the Autumn Court in the next book. Seeing him in his element, especially as we gear up towards another war, is going to be so interesting.
Autumn Fashion and Hounds
When it comes to his smokehounds, I imagine he’s a strict but caring owner. He raised them since they were pups so they’re loyal and can read him without verbal commands.
His private cabin in the Autumn woods is where he takes them for training, hunting, and gives them a break from being so fearsome. He secretly carries dried meats with him to give his hounds as treats and will let a couple of them sleep with him in his bed while he’s at the cabin. He enjoys having some of them lay at his feet while he’s reading a book or drinking whiskey.
His largest hound, Enya, has red eyes, making him look like a helhound, especially with the way his smoky tendrils lick his dark fur.
Eris’s first ever pup was a gift from his mother when he was a boy and he still cherishes that hound dearly. It’s the one he invites into his bed the most.
To Eris, his hounds are as important as soldiers under his command as Autumn’s general. They are a unit, but they are also one of the few creatures in Prythian who know his true self.
Hope you like my headcanons for Eris and his smokehounds! @erisweekofficial
Azriel trying to figure out what Eris named his dogs and Eris trying to figure out what Azriel named his shadows
Eris arrived at the Spring Court like a storm given bones, cloak snapping, boots immaculate, expression carved from perpetual irritation. Three hounds padded in behind him, all teeth and muscle and menace, led by Razor: the largest, meanest of the lot. Razor had once made a warlord blanch and a lesser fae faint clean away.
Lucien, balancing a stack of salvaged roof tiles, glanced up and nodded, “Eris.”
Elain was kneeling in the grass nearby, coaxing new green shoots from soil that had been trampled and burned. Ever since she had come into her Earth Magic she and her mate had been helping the Spring Court. She rose when she sensed Eris, hands dusty, and smiled gentle. “Welcome!”
That was when Razor saw her.
The hound froze. His ears twitched. His tail, gods help them all actually wagged.
Then the beast trotted forward, all eighty pounds of terror, softened by adoration, and without a shred of dignity, flopped onto his back at Elain’s feet. Belly up. Tongue lolling. Tail thumping the ground like it was applauding her existence.
Lucien choked back a laugh.
“Oh, hello there,” Elain breathed, immediately kneeling.
razor made a noise that could only be described as a delighted whuffle.
Eris stared.
He stared harder.
“That,” Eris said slowly, dangerously, “is my most vicious hound.”
Elain smiled and scratched Razor’s belly. “He’s a sweet boy!”
Razor melted. Fully. A puddle of bliss and devotion.
Lucien laughed nearly dropping his tiles. “I’ve seen him try to eat a male whole.”
Eris’s jaw tightened. His hound kicked a back leg in pleasure.
“I…don’t understand,” Eris muttered watching his killing machine roll in the flower garden.
Elain glanced up, faintly apologetic. “I love him,” she murmured, pressing a kiss to the hound’s head. He responded by licking her back, tail wagging with wholehearted approval.
Razor rolled onto his side and pressed his massive head into her knee, gazing up at her as if she were the sun itself.
Eris opened his mouth.
Closed it.
Took a long, long breath.
Lucien cast a quick glance to his brother and quietly said, “You’re handling this remarkably well.”
Eris shot him a glare, then looked back at Elain, at the way life bloomed brighter around her, even his own hound betraying him for her kindness.
He inclined his head, respectful despite himself. “The Spring Court is… fortunate to have you.”
Elain beamed.
Razor wagged harder.
Eris said nothing more.
And Lucien smiled at how life had turned out so surprisingly sweet.
