Hey, what did u think about Red killing Smokey? He was one of my favorite characters, I was so sad. That whole episode was intense.

Oh, I hated that. So. Fucking. Much. I was super angry at Red even though I’m on his side most of the time. Smokey was so entertaining to watch, so they shouldn’t have killed him off! I think Red should’ve listened to Dembe because the latter looked so nervous. His eyes said it all. But the thing is, if Red didn’t show mercy to Kaplan, why would he show mercy to a man who’d be considered an even lower subordinate?

On the other hand, I understand where Red came from. He was angry. After having showed appreciation towards Smokey because Red felt he was someone he could depend on, Smokey turned around and sold meth in Red’s name behind his back while Red was in prison. That’s a serious thing, since meth is a poison, and from past seasons, we understand that Red is a firm believer of prevention of innocent deaths, and meth causes innocent deaths. In his (paraphrased) words, “I kill people who deserve it.” Red must’ve hated the fact that Smokey used his absence for his own benefit and at the expense of others. He felt horribly betrayed.

So, to sum up everything, while I don’t like what Red did to Smokey, I understand why he did it.
