Johanne watched Gilbert there, completely unsurprised by the whole situation. After all, she’s known Gilbert for a very long time (too long, some might say), so this was hardly new.
She chuckled at his dismissive reply and pulled up the chair beside him. “Sure did. Broke quite a few of them back in the nineteenth century. Or earlier. It was a wonderfully a bad idea back then, what with all the mercury and lead in them.”
She stole the tweezer from his good hand and took the bad one in hers. “Now stop picking at it like an idiot. You’ll only drive the damn glass deeper and I don’t feel like cutting - so sit back and shut up and let me do it.”
Man, and here she hoped that her short winter getaway will be drama free.
