Sword AF if it was a movie/ things I like about it. (These are starting to just be head canons of mine, or Sword AF dramatic writings) :
These are roughly the first 20 things i wrote. Just making I don't glitch out my computer (it's sensitive recently)
Scene where when they’re in the castle in the morning. There’s a scene where Koda opens up a cabinet to get a cup and all of them are enchanted and fly out except for one. Koda sighs and picks up the ordinary cup.
I need Delores to be HEARTBROKEN when it shows her family and house being burned from the fire. Screams, wails, blood curdling.
Mourosel needs to be a character that you’re not sure if you can trust him. He cares for Delores, but he has some sort of ulterior motive.
For Delores’s moon window, the moon needs to be BIG and BEAUTIFUL. The window is round, and made out of a slight dark blue stained glass that reflects the moonlight perfectly.
Idk why but I need Delores to make mini individual pies for breakfast for everyone the morning they sign the contract.
Gaspard needs to be sassy. Understanding, but sassy.
Stained glass EVERYWHERE in the castle. But in a way that makes sense of course.
Speaking of the breakfast scene. Everyone needs to be rested, but still in a sort of quietly happy way. I mean, all of them had character development and created better relationships with each other. They’re exhausted, yet glad.
Constant bickering between Delores and Gaspard
The library needs to be beautiful. Old and dusty obviously, but in an old, elegant way.
Once Fernie carves a mini Fernie out of his arm, he either is holding it, or it’s just perfectly set into his arm. You can still see all the carvings yet it still goes into his arm.
Anyone and everyone in the castle just needs to like Bug a BIT more than the rest of the party.
Anytime the party is traveling somewhere, I want Fernie to have a moment to shine where he shows his knowledge of the world and nature. He’s pretty oblivious to everything else, so I think it would be sweet to show his knowledge of nature.
Speaking of that, a moment where Fernie shows Bug nature or an animal of some kind would also be cool. Like helping Bug settle down enough to hold a bird on his finger. Or the others, like making Koda crack a smile by having some sort of 4 legged baby animal (fox, squirrel, etc) curl up in his lap while sitting in the wagon. Or Delores just loving the bonding time she gets when hanging out with Fernie while watching the trees go by. Just……Fernie being the one that is able to bond with others by showing them what he loves.
For example, the ant monologue he has
Delores hating Gaspard
Everything that Koda wears is convenient and functional in someway. He does not wear anything to purposefully be fashionable, yet still is. Only thing he wears that isn’t functional is his jewelry. He has many, many rings, including one on his right ring finger from his lover. The one he had to leave so many years ago.
Bug always talking as if he needs to prove himself since, in his eyes, he needs to.
Delores needing intense validation of the others loving her by giving hugs, helping, words of affirmation. Before it’s revealed what happened to her family, it will seem desperate. But after all is revealed, you can see her hurt every time someone rejects a hug or the love she wants to give someone.
The arena scene for Koda needs to be good fighting. Intense yet HEARTBREAKING once it’s revealed who he is fighting. We need to be able to FEEL the conflict he feels from the screen. The person he loves cannot kill him, and he cannot kill them.
I just love Kevin the Moth so much.
“What do I geettt~”
“Probably a kiss :)”
“Or a beej.”
sword af audio only yada yada.
let's talk about how they still left the crew's laughs in the background audio lmao. (mainly spencer i think??) its a touch that i rly liked :)
So I’m rewatching sword af for the first time since it premiered and I didn’t pay attention to their dynamic back then so I didn’t think about the implications of all the bug support from Damien’s npc. But my god he literally constantly hyped Angela up. Something I’ve been thinking about is how Chanse said that they put a lot of themselves in their characters. I think Angela does have a lot of that imposter syndrome, anxiety, and wanting her coworkers’ approval that Bug has (there’s a lot of little moments that make me think that but her trivial pursuit with Amanda was the thing that really made me realize that) and I wonder how much of Damien’s support of Bug was for character development and how much of it was for Angela yk? You can see a little split second character break whenever he does the little “I’m proud of you” stuff where I feel like you can see it really does mean something to her (maybe I’m delusional lol). I feel like most of the other times he compliments her she either like completely misses or or just dismisses it but telling him to shut up (jokingly) so I wonder if he used this opportunity to also compliment her and support her without her being able to just dismiss it Anyway the fact that all those moments in sword af are when the camera is only on them and they’re like making direct eye contact makes them such good special Damangela moments
That’s why I love that series so much!
She gets special treatment sometimes (based on her character it makes sense. We don’t really know their backstory yet) and we get moments like that and it’s so good!
What you said about the Trivial Pursuit, I never caught that actually! but you’re right! Angela constantly wanting Shayne to laugh at her jokes and waiting to see if he comes back, I totally missed that!
I really do love the fact they started a real D&D campaign recently (they tried it years ago but I never watched it) with all the new cast! I think that was such a great call having Damien DM! He really is very good at it! Had me hanging on his every word.
What I think I have the softest spot for is the behind the scenes for that season. (And the DWMP:CL) How much praise he gives her, telling her that people he met have told him how great she did and how much they loved Bug! (Side note- I wonder how much of Bugs anxiety and his arch was planned? Like did they have certain story beats or was it mostly Angela improvising? Either way it was such a cool thing to watch!) and how well she did, UGH SO SWEET.
Her telling him he gave her goose bumps at how well he wrapped up, and him saying “this is my job, I better be good at it” (I tried to find where they said this and I couldn’t, so I might’ve made it up? But it does sound like something they would say doesn’t it?)
I really can’t wait to watch the next season both because I want to see the story pan out and because we’ll be getting more Angela and Damien being cuties!
maybe they were too focused on anthony’s funeral roast and didn’t have the time? didn’t damien, anthony, and ian get covid at one point? that could have messed up their shooting blocks
I totally understand if things werernt ready or something went wrong behind the scenes, I just cant BELIEVE THEY TOLD US ON THE DAY/TIME OF RELEASE THAT WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR
About sword AF:
If we go by the same rules of season 1 they seem to shoot the episodes in batches (so like 1 batch is 2 episodes).
It’s a dnd session that they don’t show in full so the minimum time a session could have would be 2hrs
I assume they were going to start filming the new season when Damien got covid so they had to reschedule it. And then it came the funeral roast, multiple cast members said they spent a lot of time writing and “choreographing” the special so we can assume it took them a long time to get everything ready for the live event.
In this tweet Damien mentions he shot something for 8 hrs (/damienhaas/status/1731306760085139582?s=46&t=rIUvEvIoRXO3-D2Toq1MQA) it could be the batches of sword af episodes it could also be something unrelated. Maybe they aren’t done editing the episodes and they need more time or maybe (and somewhat likely) the shooting schedule got delayed in the worst time possible.
Also they got fucked over by Christmas/new year’s so truly the soonest we could get would be next year
THAT BEING SAID, Smosh should have said something about season 2 earlier! Even if it was just a tweet saying “hey season 2 of SAF is still in production however the release date has changed”
This all could be what happened I suppose, but really I'm only concerned with WHY DID THEY NOT TELL US SOONER. Most of the comments under todays upload (not D&D) are asking where D&D is, and why is it not here.
[THAT BEING SAID, Smosh should have said something about season 2 earlier! Even if it was just a tweet saying “hey season 2 of SAF is still in production however the release date has changed”]
^This is where I'm at. The only thing I can think of as of this moment is some kind of legal or technical problem that made it so down to the wire (not even the wire literally PAST the wire) that they had their hands tied until the last possible moment.
This comes a place of love for the series. I'm upset at how they've treated something I enjoy so much, it really felt like such a disrespectful thing to do to the fans of the series. We just better get some good reasons as to why they had to tell us so late.
