I’m so amazed and inspired by and proud of all my athletes who committed to a virtual training program that lasted 19 weeks through a pandemic so that they can complete an ultramarathon that didn’t guarantee a marked off course, aid stations, race shirts, or medals. The only thing that was guaranteed was love - the love for the community and love for running. And when we love, we love unconditionally - we don’t expect to be love in return. But boy were we wrong… Take a look at everyone who came out to support all the runners today. Today was a great day. I’m so high on joy now and probably won’t be able to sleep tonight. If I do fall asleep, I’ll fall asleep in this new shirt I got. TOMORROW’S THE DAY! With no in-person racing in sight back in February, @satmornruncrew ‘s captains @ldubwash @abril413 @ultrarunningchick81 and Jonathan took it upon themselves to set a goal of completing an ultra marathon (26.3 miles in this case) on June 26th with training starting on Valentine’s Day - after all this was all for love of running and community. Since they are putting this “race” on on their own with no sponsorship, budgets, or any formal support, I’ve shared their routes here so that we can just go out there, run some miles with them, maybe bike some, just cheer, or celebrate with them at the finish at the West Harlem Piers. I’m so proud of this group and you bet I’ll be out there on my bike supporting.
