** Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park, Canada ** We found out first leaf emojis during the hike through Smuggler Cove on Canada's Sunshine Coast. We'd often see tokens like this on many Canadian trails, mostly in the form of innuksuks (stacked rock figurines) and beautifully painted rocks. ** Smuggler Cove, British Columbia ** This was a gorgeous spot that we found during the loop around the Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park in Canada. A moment of absolute stillness while overlooking emerald waters and a murder of crows. ** Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park, Canada ** Water is life and this marine park certainly saturated the sodden earth that lay upon it. From the moment of entering Smuggler Cove, there are freshwater marshlands, an old shipping cove and the glorious Pacific Ocean. The saturation of the land here, together with the climate and vegetation, attracts all kinds of peculiar beings. We were lucky enough to spot a few colorful creatures that we had never seen before. ** Smuggler Cove, British Columbia ** Of course, the Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park in Canada had an interesting back story. About half way through the park's loop, an opening in the trail's natural walls introduced a well hidden cove along with an informative post on the history of what it was used for. It turns out during the Prohibition (1920 to 1933), this cove was used by 'rum runners' who used ships to smuggle alcohol to the deprived and thirsty customers of the United States. ** Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park, BC ** These sturdy, and most importantly metallic, boardwalks throughout Smuggler Cove offer a safe place for the observation of a wonderful gallery of nature's art. The informative boards that the park provide are really interesting and are mostly present on the boardwalks. We spent a long time looking for wildlife, funghi and types of fauna. Lucky for us, we spotted many natural creations that were new to our eyes and we had our zoom lens with us. Beavers resident to Smuggler Cove have built a series of four dams in the area over the years and subsequent wetlands such as this are directly or indirectly responsible for 85÷ of North America's fauna. We were constantly stopping to admire the unique terrain of the famous Smuggler Cove hiking trail on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast route. The purpose built boardwalk at the start of the trail allows visitors to travel across marshlands and debris of unfathomable reckoning. The hike is packed with information sineage that covers everything you'll need to know from the abundant fungi to the birds that populate the area.
