It’s crazy to think that almost exactly two months ago I didn’t write fic, and hadn’t for years. 3. On smut.
Smut is AMAZING as long as you’re an adult. I am biased because my favorite kind of threads are those that include smut and darker themes but to me, it really feels like it brings out the personality of my muses. It also stimulates my interest in a thread because just like many around here, I’m ship trash. Sex does not equate shipping instantly but when I feel my muse having a sexual chemistry with another, it’s easier for me to figure out the romantic side. I’m not much of a fluff writer so the best way to end up in a ship with one of my muses is for me to explore the smut side with both characters.
It’s not a requirement (I have ships I have yet to smut with) but it definitely helps me with figuring out how compatible two muses are.
Other than that! -inhales- PEOPLE NEED TO STOP LOOKING DOWN ON THOSE OF US WHO SMUT A LOT.
It is not a mischaracterization. Just because canon doesn’t state one as promiscuous or not doesn’t mean they never have sex. If I wanted to roleplay solely what’s appearing in canon, I would only be reenacting scenes from canon, period.

It’s rare that I read someone’s smut and I’m impressed. Writing good smut is HARD. A lot of people just throw a couple of cocks and tiddies and don’t even bother. These roleplayers are terrible and oftentimes, it has nothing to do with the fact they’re writing smut. Most people who write magnificent smut are unsurprisingly also amazing writers. Because they can get in their muses mind even in the most intimate moments, I find that these people connections to their muses are the strongest.
Action, Fights, Smut just as much as Fluff or any other genre demands skills. People that shit on roleplayers who like to write sex needs to tone it the fuck down. We are not ruining our muses, we are exploring one more side of them. I found my muses having a lot of character development through sex, too.
TL;DR : Writing smut is good. Writing smut is life. Write smut all you want or don’t but don’t stigmatize those who do or don’t. Live and let live.
