This is more of a dialogue than a fic, but that’s because I originally wrote this in atbash when I was bored, which is what I write in when I don’t want people to see what I’m doing.
Therefore I was more focusing on code accuracy than poetic wording...
Anyway, I wrote this as exposition to this, since I felt that even if Peepers might willingly crossdress, Hater might not.
Really this is for @snailstew, and since it’s Gift Ship Week for @woyshipweeks, what time could be better? Okay, here we go! Enjoy!
“Cultural Expectations”
“This is gonna be so stupid”, Hater grumbled near under his breath.
“Oh, I know it’s not what you’d prefer, sir”, Peepers replied, “but it’s the only way to really get in good with this empire. If we impress them, we’ll have the best supply of chemical weapons in the galaxy! And a partnership with them means participating in their culture while we’re there.”
“So all of us have to wear dresses?!”
Both parties sighed.
“The men wear dresses”, Peepers clarified, “and the women wear suits. All children wear the former, but by adulthood, women become old enough to ride workhorses− which is easier in pants− and men keep their style for the hot plants they work at. The beauty behind the style, well…” Peepers rubbed the back of his head.
“It shows off wealth in spite of a labor-intensive job.”
“Can’t we just… I dunno, make our own chemicals or something?
“No!” Peepers exclaimed “Not only would it be incredibly dangerous to attempt making them ourselves, but do you know just how much it’ll cost us if we get a cut from this empire?!”
Before Hater could respond with more than an ‘Uh…’, Peepers interrupted.
“Nothing! Except to credit them as part of the Hater empire to better their reputation and increase their outsource business! So you are going to cooperate with whatever adheres to their planet’s culture, even if it means going down there naked! You understand?!”
Hater grumbled again.
“I’d rather wear a dress than be naked, I guess.”
Peepers calmed.
“Good. Now, let’s decide what we’ll have you wear. We’ll both want to look taller, so we’ll have to wear heels… I know how I’m having my dress tailored already, so let’s discuss yours.”
“I wanna wear red− and black, like what I’ve already got.”
“The key to showing off luxury on this planet is having your outfit say you’re relaxed and unabashed to the problems that exist− not embracing them or seeking a profit from them. You already have the profit. I’d say…”
Peepers felt a spark.
“Oh! Green would probably be perfect on you!”
“Green?!” whined Hater “But that’s Wander’s color! You’re starting to sound like a girl, Peepers!”
“Now sir, I know none of this is ideal… But just try to get used to this concept for now. I promise it’ll all be worth it in the end.”
An annoyed murmur made its way through Hater’s mouth.
“Okay… Long as you’re dressing up too, I guess…”
The commander smiled with his eyelids.
“Very good, sir. But I can guarantee you, even if I’m biased here, you’ll look spectacular no matter what you wear.”
Peepers flushed lightly, having only just bitten off the word ‘stunning’.
Gonna miss all your commentary, Orr. Your super thoughtful analysis and jokes alike. If and when we get a third season, your return will be another reason I'm celebrating.

-In the middle, we have Martin, the head of a skullship speakeasy called The Moist Pupil. This guy really isn’t supposed to be bartending- he’s a highly ranked solider. But since he lost his leg in battle, he’s feeling too sorry for himself to do anything related to his real job (much to the chagrin of Peepers).
-To the left is Abe, the lazy but loyal assistant to the bar, who always likes to make wisecracks (if wise they can be called).
-And last but not least is the smallest of the Moist Pupil crew, Morgan! Or as he’s known to most, Stonewall. He doesn’t really talk.
A sad nešto sasvim drugačije 😁 Gulaš od 🐌 Pošto je vreme idealno u svakom smislu za ovakvu zanimaciju. 🤭 Potreban materijal: oko 100 komada puževa 2 pune kašike svinjske masti 1 veća glavica crnog luka 100g dimljene mesnate slanine 1 manji koren celera 1 veća šargarepa 1-2 paprike 1 manja tikvica grančica timijana i ruzmarina 150ml belog vina 500ml pasiranog paradajza 2 kašičice belog luka u granulama pola kašičice suvog estragona pola kašičice suvog vlašca pola kašičice karija kajenska paprika mleveni biber, so pola kašičice kurkume Priprema: Nabrane puževe staviti u rupičasti džak i ostaviti tako – okačiti negde, (najbolje napolju) da odstoje par dana, kako bi se iščistili. Pre nego sam krenula u avanturu pripremanja ovog gulaša, malo sam više guglala i čitala i na većini mesta sam upravo pronašla informaciju da je poželjno ovo odraditi pre konačne pripreme za jelo i kuvanja. Očišćene od sluzi i oprane puževe kuvati u slanoj i uz dodatak kašike-dve alkoholnog sirćeta u vodi 15-20 minuta. Vodeći računa da puževe spustite u vrelu vodu, ne obrnuto. Procediti tečnost, pa ponoviti postupak još dva-tri puta, ali bez dodatka sirćeta. Konačno, posle toga skloniti sa vatre, prohladiti mlazom hladne vode, dobro isprati i očistiti – vaditi puževe iz kućica. Najbolje je to uraditi pomoći heklice. Očišćenim puževima oštrim nožem iseći stopala i skloniti sa strane. Ostalo baciti. Mast zagrejati u loncu. Propržiti na masti sitno seckani crni luk i slaninu. Pržiti zajedno nekih 5 minuta pa dodati na sitne kockice isečeni celer, šargarepu, papriku i na kraju tikvice. Dodati timijan i ruzmarin, a zatim i sitno iseckano meso puževa. Posoliti po ukusu. Kuvati nekih 15 minuta, a zatim dodati vino, pasirani paradajz i začine. Papriku i biber dodati po ukusu. Kuvati uz povremeno mešanje još nekih 20 minuta. Dok se sve lepo en ukrčka.
