Gender hasn't been able to identified thus far, so, Hermés remains without a gender.

hc that snape doesnt force his slytherins to talk when something is bothering them but will invite them into his office for a game of chess (or several) to calm them down. it’s so effective because not only do the children open up on their own accord, but they also regularly schedule chess games with him afterward so they can regularly chat. snape doesn’t speak much during those sessions, unless it’s to goad students during the game, or if the student is in dire need of advice, and during the years that he’s their head of house, most, if not all, of slytherin grow up knowing severus snape is one of the few adults they can trust.
