Porter got a snap tite (like a model car but not quite one) VW Beetle for xmas.
He insisted he needed help putting it together.
So I watched him put it together. I'm helpful like that.

This is the 1/72 Scale Star Wars Millennium Falcon(TM) – Predecorated SnapTite® Max Model Kit by Revell from the new Star Wars The Force Awakens movie. At first glance this Millenium Falcon model kit looks like the previous iterations from Revell. But there are a few differences besides the rectangular radar dish featured in the Force Awakens so read below.

This is the 1/72 Millenium Falcon from Revell kit 85-1822. It is the most recent iteration of the kit since I believe 2006 when it debuted in Clone Wars packaging. The last Millenium Falcon available which was a Snap Tite MAX version was the kit # 85-1854. Besides the obvious round antennae dish lost during the attack of the second Death Star, a few changes have been made. First and foremost the rectangular dish. The production design could have easily gone with another round dish replacement for the Millenium Falcon. But after 30 years within the story the new shaped dish easily sets apart the Falcon from the new trilogy. Although the new kit sports the new dish, the old round dish is *still* included. The paint in which this ”new” Falcon is offered has a few shades of gray color on some of the panels not seen on the previous model.
What else is different?
The lower hull of the ship has been changed from the 85-1854 version. This time our beloved piece of junk has real landing gear wells. The previous version had a very superficial mount and a simple panel for gear up mode. The’re’s a slight but notable change inside the cabin. The cockpit part has been painted in a dark gray omitting the brown pilot and copilot seats plus the aluminum trimming painted on the 1854 is also gone on this one. The front seats no longer have the mounting hole points for the crew. That is because Revell sadly ditched Han and Chewie and no figures are included to populate the cockpit.
The sidewalls are still the same tooling. Not too thin but not as tall as the old MPC kit either. The maintenance wells on top and bottom this time have been painted in black with some white dry brushing done to them. The landing gear features different baffles and pads. The rear engine grills are painted as if the Falcon ran on coal.
There’s a lot of negative rap about this model and other Star Wars model kits in different community forums and Facebook groups. I believe that many folks are missing the point and are not taking this model kit for the market it is intended for. C’mon, I’m big fan of the Millenium Falcon; from a tiny die-cast to the sought after Saga 3 3/4” they reside in my personal collection. I’m a model kit builder. I have plenty of resources to build, scratch build, cast parts, paints, airbrushes and a plethora of tools at my disposal. As a fan of the ship that made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs if I want a heavily detailed model I understand that this is NOT the kit to go after. For instance; If I want a detailed Audi R8, I have the option of kit 80-7398. I’m not going to purchase the Audi R8 kit 85-1687 and then complaint about the lack of detail.
These kits are for the first timers or someone who saw the kit and wanted to give it a try either as fandom, curiosity or both. For those who are not committed to the the hobby and don’t even know what kind of glue or paint is used to paint a model and will twist the parts off from the runners because they don’t even own a set of cutting pliers.

For a more detailed version of the Millenium Falcon, you will be better suited with 85-5093 Master Series. It will cost more and comes with no paint, glue or building skills in the box. To those above, I have no problem recommending this kit. You will like it very much. Downside, Revell skipped the figures although Chewie and Han are still relevant to this version of the Millenium Falcon.
My sincere thanks to Revell USA for this review sample.

Revell 1/72 Snap-Tite MAX Millenium Falcon This is the 1/72 Scale Star Wars Millennium Falcon(TM) - Predecorated SnapTite® Max Model Kit by Revell from the new Star Wars The Force Awakens movie.
Poe Dameron was a human male who served as a pilot in the Resistance approximately thirty years after the Battle of Endor. A leader in the Resistance’s fight against the First Order and a member of Black Squadron, he flew under the callsign of Black Leader while commanding a squadron of T-70 X-wing fighters in the company of his loyal astromech droid, BB-8. Poe was the son of Shara Bey and Kes Dameron, who served the Alliance to Restore the Republic in the fight against the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.
As an infant, Poe barely saw his parents due to continued operations against the Imperials following the Battle of Endor, as her mother worked as Rebel pilot for the Alliance’s Green Squadron and his father was a member of the Pathfinders, and was thus left in the care of his maternal grandfather. Only after the Imperial remnant put forward Operation: Cinder did Poe’s parents leave Rebel service to reunite with him, settle on Yavin 4 and build a house—close to which they planted a Force-sensitive tree, a gift from Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. The Kit
I am as excited about the new Star Wars movie coming out as about anybody. I’ve always loved the X-Wing Fighter and when I saw the new Revell release of the unique Poe fighter I jumped all over it. Revell advertises it as a snap-tite plastic model. It pretty much is best characterized as a snap-tite kit that is more like a toy. The parts come pre-painted. It took less than 5-minutes to put it together and it looks pretty cool. But I had to add some character to it. I took it apart and masked off the area behind the canopy and sprayed primer on it…as well as primer on the cockpit area.
Next I applied flat black paint on the area behind the cockpit and the very rear of the fuselage. I then applied Uschi powder to the rear areas. I also applied Uschi metal powders to the blasters and landing gear to give them some life. Finally, I painted some panels in the cockpit and applied some Vallejo medium grey along parts of the front fuselage to give somewhat of a worn and chipped appearance.
I probably should have done something with the intakes, but I was in haste to get this kit off the bench, so that I could give it to a friend. I may pick up another one of these and bring it to life with a little more weathering.
[stextbox id=”stb_style_958547″ defcaption=”true” shadow=”true”]I understand Revell may be coming out with some bigger scale plastic kits of the X-Wings…I sure hope so.[/stextbox]

Quick Release Couplings to Save the Day
Procedures of fitting the quick release couplings have now become extremely easy, as there had been many changes from before. Many new options have come to the trading area now. The old coupling parts, at times, failed to maintain the proper procedures of water flowing. Many of the coupling parts, on the other hand, are full of rust and dirt for which they become unable to perform well in the procedures. Then there are low quality coupling parts, which fail to work properly after a short period. For these reasons, there are situations when these coupling parts need to be changed.
For this, there have been quite a few researches in this field that have been done so far. There are experts in this field who have tried to find an alternative to the problem. At the same time, the experts have searched for an alternative to the materials that are used for making the alternatives to these coupling parts. The quick release couplings are the appropriate solutions to these problems. They are actually the disconnecting hose lines that save the procedures of flow of the liquid. Release couplings are a very good tool to save the situation and find the alternative within a short span of time. Most of these couplings are dry disconnect coupling parts that are made to prevent any sort of mishap. At the same time, couplings save the loss of any amount of fluids or products. The quick release couplings do this very important task.
There are many sorts of couplings and some of them are very effective in maintaining the balance between the overflowing and limited flow. This practice of controlling the flow actually helps the coupling parts to offer good service for a long span of time. At the same time, the quick release couplings are apt in preventing any sort of spillage of the products that might occur. The dry disconnect coupling parts make sure that such problems do not occur and the flow stays safe and secured. These release couplings are available in different shapes and sizes so that they can be fitted into any sort of hoses. The weight and the size of these couplings are important because according to that the user of the hosepipes can actually use them.
The material used for making these couplings is also chosen through many tests and experiments as if the wrong material is used for making the flow of the liquids that react to the material then it can cause much chaos. So proper checking and researches are done before these couplings are made; however, the experts opine that the quick release couplings should be maintained properly. Some of the dry disconnect coupling parts that are made with cheap material show the signs of malfunctioning within a very short period of purchase.
These products are generally priced lesser than the other products. So the experts opine to avoid such material and avail quality release couplings. The cost of these release couplingsdiffer from place to place. However, the quality of the couplings should be checked as well as considered properly. Only then, the quick release couplings bought will be of proper quality.
