Good ol' Ingo and Akari, you can never go wrong with this adopted duo XD
Mostly drew this for @waywardstation as a lil something for their birthday! Happy Brithday to you Wayward and thank you for all the amazing writing and art you've made for the Legends community!
Here's to a fantastic day to you and many more to come!!!
In the Akariceus AU, Akari is cast out of the Galaxy Expedition much, much earlier than in canon. In fact, she never really got the chance to join. Kamado picked up her Weird Vibes TM and sent her packing. She didn’t even get a starter. Still, Laventon and Rei snuck her basic supplies, and Cyllene gave her a scarf. She cherishes it, so desperate for any comfort in this cruel world.
Her overexposure to Arceus is really the only reason she survives that first week. Her Pokémon instincts guide her, and although she can’t control her shifts (they usually happen at night) into her Pokémon form, she does take advantage of them to travel, speak to Pokémon, and harvest food. It’s hard. It’s really hard. Arceus’s message keeps her from just hunkering down somewhere. She feels a constant urge to keep going, to keep meeting new Pokémon. She avoids people from the Survey Corps and from the clans, but keeps an eye out for Professor Laventon and Rei when she sees them. Sometimes, she sneaks up close to their camp during the night and fills in the Pokédex for them.
She’s so tired.
Eventually, she manages to acquire (steal) some plates from the Alpha Pokémon she faces, and when she runs into Volo (he also picks up on her Weird Vibes TM, everyone does tbh, but he’s more curious then afraid) she sees his interest in them and starts trading them to him for various items. Since they are so difficult she’s been hurt so many times to obtain, she manages to get some very nice warm clothes and some decent survival gear. He offers her Pokéballs, but she feels really uncomfortable around them for some reason.
Volo is her only company for awhile, (its hard when she still mostly comes out at night and has to sleep during the day) until she feels the pull to travel to the north, to the Alabaster Icelands. She wanders around there for a while, studying the new Pokémon from afar, dodging any Pearl Clan members she sees, and just trying to survive in this new environment.
Then one day, just at the cusp of twilight, she hears it.
Its not human, but she can recognize a cry for help.
Akari takes off, not even noticing that her body is changing as she runs until her feet hit the snow. She finds a pair of Sneasel kits that have been cornered by an Alpha Garchomp. A small male cowers behind his shiny sister, who is trying her very best to look tough in the face of such an intimidating Pokémon. Her threat display isn’t working, and the Garchomp is clearly preparing to enjoy his dinner.
His meal is halted by a Hyper Voice to the face, swiftly followed by Akari slamming her body into the Alpha. The attack staggers the Pokémon, giving the trio the chance to escape. The three don’t stop running until they are far, far away.
The twins, who introduce themselves as Mischief (girl) and Misery (boy), are very grateful for the save, even if Mischief insists that she had it covered.
The twins were trying to prove to their mother that they were tough enough to survive on their own, and had decided that running away was the best way to do just that. They very meekly admit that they had, perhaps, been wrong. In fact, they ran so far away that they aren’t sure how to get home.
So, Akari offers to stay with them.
She’s desperate for companionship
Imagine the twin’s surprise when in the morning they find a human instead of their friend!
It takes a bit, but Akari eventually manages to explain.
Mischief gets a hit in before she does.
Together, the unlikely trio sets out to try and find a way back to the kit’s home.
Meanwhile, a very worried Lady Sneasler watches as her dedicated Warden sets out to find her youngest kits. The locals have been speaking of a strange monster that has been roaming the lands, and she hopes that he won’t encounter it.
