24. What are you sitting on right now?
i’m currently on a sofa in my living room wrecking my posture as usual.
My son (about 3 or 4 at the time) and I were talking about death and he asked, “But I’m not going to die?” I answered, “Yes, you will. Everyone does.” He IMMEDIATELY burst into tears. I calmed him down, but look, I’m not gonna lie to him about it. It happens and that’s all there is to it. I figure if I present it in a calm and pragmatic way, it won’t be this great scary, forbidden Unknown thing. Now that he’s 13, I take the same approach with sex questions.
i think it definitely starts really young with like parents lying to kids about what happened to their pets so it’s great that you had this conversation with him at 3!!
