I've had stuff out to try to lure him back but there's been no sign of him so I think I'm just giving up, unfortunately. It's likely he got out before I noticed but even if it was only the night before, he's been missing for over a month now.

I'm going to leave this up as an archive. I might go back to using it if/when I get another snake.

But I'm just crushed and feeling like a horrible pet parent 😓

My mom took care of Nuka for a while for me and fell in love, so she asked me to help her get a snake of her own. And I can officially say that this lovely little lady from the wonderful @omg-snakes is going to be hers! I'm going over tonight to help set up the tank. I can promise she'll be very spoiled when she gets here!

Did I actually say here that we ended up having to euthanize Meli? Vet said very likely cancer because almost nothing else makes them drop weight that quickly - and neither that nor anything else it could be would be treatable anyway in such a small snake. So we took a couple of days to find a good time for us all to be there, and brought him back for a final vet visit on May 30.

Poor baby looked really rough at the end and was barely moving... I can't imagine he felt very well, poor thing. 11 years but it still felt too short.

He got out again and I am losing my mind but also I was SO CONFUSED.

Until I realized. A little bit ago. That one side of his vent is like. A tiny bit bowed?

Can he fit through there? Did he fit through there? Unclear, but I've taped it all the way around now. 😮‍💨

Hoping my set ups will draw him back.

Going crazy with fear and premature grief.

I stg if there's a next snake/next time, I'm setting up a small glass tank first because while this is a good size for his adult self, he's so small and so often hiding in the substrate that I can't be 100% sure when he got out. But maybe now I Actually have every egress blocked off... I don't have the funds rn with the divorce etc to do a whole second set up, I need him to stay INSIDE.

But this is what I get for being a couple days late with Dinner I guess 😭

And then when they put you back in, there isn't even a Dinner! what the heck.
