what fuyumi forgets,   however,   is that for choi cường,   her quick,   stuttered rambling can be somewhat difficult to keep up with.   but she is also someone kind and attentive enough to quickly remind herself that he might not have understood everything she says.   she pauses suddenly with a soft gasp,   halting the kitchen knife in her grasp mid - cut to look up at her far - too - patient companion,   voice apologetic:

he had spoken directly to tanizaki before he had jumped from that helicopter. he had said he was counting on him, specifically. he had heard tanizaki screaming his name as he fell from the helicopter, right before the explosion rang out. he’s racked with guilt, knowing he had put such a burden on someone so young. it hadn’t been fair, but the moment was desperate and he really thought it was the only way to save them. maybe one day tanizaki will forgive him, but right now he just wants to bring him home. 

he’s right where ranpo said he would be. he knew tanizaki would be shocked to see him alive and standing there, so he’s hesitant, cautious as he approaches. 

‘ tanizaki. i’m sorry. ‘

this night has really been all over the place but it really reminded me how much I love and appreciate my irls

Loving someone you know you can't be with is so so so so so fucking hard. We have too much baggage. We can't communicate properly. We trigger each other's insecurities. I'm the only one in therapy and I can't pick up the slack anymore. ... and I don't want to be in a relationship where we end up merely tolerating each other's differences and emotions. That's an awful way to love. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of settling for the baggage our parents left us with. I want to be free. I want to be free.
