KIM & BRIANA w/ mads ✨ this is it. my favourite op of the (admittedly short) weekend. mads and i carried these pillows around all damn day, and it was SO worth it. during the ‘wayward sleep’ episode of the wayward podcast, kim and bri were joking about The Murder Pillow™️, and when mads i decided to do a split op, this idea came up. i was immediately in love with it and couldn't wait to see the end result. while waiting our turn, one of the volunteers asked us if we planned on sitting on the ground with them, due to us holding the pillows. after reassuring her we weren't, she ushered us forward. we handed pillows to them, and explained. M we wanna do murder pillow! K murder pillow? V murder pillow! B hell yeah! lets do this everyone got into position, we pulled faces, and chris did his magic. it turned out so perfect. i was really looking forward to getting it signed the next day, but it’ll have to wait until vancouver, now. im so excited to see their reactions to it!!
JASON MANNS ✨ one soft boi!!! listen, i love jason so much. i watched him run the marathon back in november, and my love for him grew. all i wanted was a Very Soft Hug from him. and look - thats exactly what i got! he was so kind, gave me such a good hug, and looks as soft as ever. i genuinely cant wait to hug him again in vancouver this summer
BRIANA BUCKMASTER meet & greet ✨ what a rockstar of a woman, truly. it was kind of surreal, being able to just sit and hang out with her for 45 minutes. i went into it thinking it would be a little bit like the PJ party she does with kim, and i was happy to find out that it was a bit like it, but also very different at the same time. it felt more intimate, for starters. it was also my first glimpse of her that day, and when she walked in i actually said out loud “wow, you look amazing today”, which thankfully only mads heard (and agreed with). i always leave feeling fulfilled when i’m around her, and this time was no different. we talked a lot about women in the workforce and how different it can be for us. having a guy in the meet & greet really opened up that conversation, and i think we all took something important away from it. we also talked about music, the podcast, her move to LA, and so much more. at the end, the handler tried to get us all together for one photo and briana says “nope, we’re not doing that. i like selfies so someone get over here for yours!” we took them in front of the huge windows, because the snow was falling and it was super pretty. when it was my turn, i made sure to tell her how gorgeous i thought she looked, that i loved her, and thank you for being here. she was as gracious as ever, thanking me in return, telling me “i love you too, babe”, and squeezing me tight during our photo. to say i love this woman is a vast understatement. she has given me the tools i need to feel better about myself, recognize when i deserve better than what im getting, motivation to do what’s best for myself, and so much more. bri is everything i aspire to be one day.
CHAD LINDBERG ✨ this photo op took place between two different meet & greets which means i barely had 3 minutes to run down a flights of stairs, get the photo taken, and then run back up a flight of stairs. thankfully, i was able to explain this to the people running the meet & greets, so i got bumped to the front of the line for my Chad photo. standing in line with my friend mads, i realized i left the props i brought upstairs in the m&g room. realizing i didn't have time to run and grab them, i decided to just go with our trusty saying “when in doubt, hug it out!” V *walks up to him* hi! C hey, so glad you could make it! V really excited to see you! could we just hug please? C absolutely! he gives really good hugs, by the way. he was so laid back, yet visibly excited to be there. it was extra fast due to meet & greets, but even i could tell he was having fun. ~~~~~ getting his auto later was really special, because despite being on the weekend passes, he was personalizing them. he was taking his time, and talking to everyone as he signed their photos. C hello, how's it going? great to see you! V hey! im so excited you're here! C thanks, im so glad to be here. are you from here? V vancouver, well just outside of. so nearby C oh cool, did you grow up there V yeah, i did yeah C right out, northwest - its a good place to grow up. super cool. im from mount vernon myself... so its good to be home, y’know? V yeah, definitely. well thank you so much, its awesome to see you C hey, thank you, i appreciate it it was so cool to have just a totally chill conversation with him, while hes signing allllll over my photo 😂 he really is so down to earth, and seems like he would be really fun to just hang out with
RACHEL MINER meet & greet ✨ i decided to do meet and greets in seattle, because i knew id be able to afford them. rachel was at the top of my list, for so many reasons. she truly is one of my biggest inspirations. her meet & greet was 45 minutes, and it was full of amazing, smart, and kind women. as soon as she came in, she looked right at me and said “aw, i know that hair!” it was such an incredible feeling, knowing she remembered me from vancouver and the marathon months earlier. we talked nonstop about some really important topics - racism, ableism, representation, women in the workforce, and so so much more. and the whole time, she kept making eye contact with me, and subtly checking in with me. it was very heartwarming. i left that meet & greet a different person. i learned so much, and gained so much more respect and admiration for her and my fellow women. its only been a few days, and I've noticed a change in how i approach and vocalize things. at the end, when it was time for photos, she told us we would all be getting solo photos instead of one group photo. “in front of the snow globe window”, because she had mentioned earlier that it felt like we were inside a snow globe, with the big windows surrounding us. when i had my turn, i sat down beside her and our mini conversation went like this: V: hi rachel! its so good to see you again! R: im so glad you came! i wanted to talk to you again, so thank you for coming! V: im really happy i got to be here! i love you so much, you're such an inspiration R: thank you, i love you V: im also super excited for your unicorn photos later! i brought my onesie and everything R: oh thats so awesome, i cant wait to see you there! to have her not only recognize me, but be thankful that i was in her meet & greet? theres simply no words. she is honestly magical, and im so thankful to have these opportunities with her.
PAJAMA PARTY 2/7/19 ✨ after being at the pj party in vancouver, i had a better idea of what to expect at this one... and then i was totally wrong! the pj party was taking place at the same time as the 300th episode was airing, but we opted not to watch it because as kim said “you all paid like, 300 bucks to be here, and they're watching it for free. you can find that shit online later! you’re here to have a party with us” after the initiation of new con goers, stuffing ourselves with pizza and cookies, we started playing games. kim had a half baked idea for a new one, so we tried that out. it was an absolute blast! we even convinced kim and bri to play a round! we were (sort of) divided into teams, and mine won! so i go extra photos at the end of the night. (please enjoy our ridiculous faces) overall, it was two hours of belly laughs, ridiculous games, delicious cookies, and, though i didn't realize it at the time, the start of a new friendship.
