If we had a dollar for every person delighted by their visit to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in #Colorado, we'd have a lotta bucks 🦌! After fresh snowfall at the refuge right outside of downtown Denver, we're transported to a winter wonderland, complete with frosty white-tailed deer dashing through the snow. Often peaking in mid-November, the white-tailed deer rut carries on through the winter months. During their breeding season, the males become more active and less cautious. The surge in their testosterone can cause their neck to swell up to 50%! This temporary strength increase helps them as they battle other nearby bucks. Photo courtesy of Bob Gjestvang.
