Love At First Bandage (Snowflakeshipping)

Basically the story on how Dr. Julien met his wife.

Eli Julien x Amber Seang.

This takes place in the years following the end of the first Serpentine war.

Amber is 20 while Dr. Julien is 23

Eli woke up in a bed, but he could easily tell that it wasn't his. As he stared at the ceiling, he could clearly remember what had happened prior.

He was originally heading home to Birchwood Forest, or at least that was before he had accidentally disturbed a wild Serpentine nest and got injured, so he was now limping to a nearby village in search of help, while trying to keep some of his larger injuries closed with the side of his jacket.

The last thing he could remember before passing out from blood loss was collapsing onto a cold, snow covered porch and hearing a door open.

Eli carefully pulled away the blanket that was on top of him. His jacket was off, but the rest of his clothes were undisturbed, and his wounds were bandaged properly, so much in fact that he thought he was at a hospital instead of someone's home.

Speaking of which, Eli heard the door to the room open, and he could have sworn that he just saw an angel.

The woman, who was likely the one who found Eli and took care of his Injuries, walked in and shut the door, holding a tray of assorted items. She was beautiful, her dark skin blending in with the other comforting colors of her long clothing. Her pale, platinum blonde hair was pulled back into a braid, some shorter strands hanging down beside her dark brown eyes.

She went over the bedside, setting the tray on the nightstand." I'm glad you're finally awake, I thought you might have already been dead because of how much blood you lost" The woman said, her voice calm, though laced with concern at Eli's condition.

Eli was snapped out of his thoughts by the stranger speaking to him." Ah- apologies, I did not mean to worry you" he said with a soft smile, adjusting his glasses." Were you the one who found me?..." Eli asked, looking at the woman beside the bed.

She nodded."Yes, I heard a thump outside my front door, and when I opened it, I saw you, unconscious and bleeding out. I couldn't leave you to die, I'd feel horrible if I did" she said, looking down at Eli.

The inventor couldn't help but feel his heart melt from how caring the other was. He smiled at her."Well, thank you for saving me...uhm, what is your name?" Eli asked.

"Amber Seang" She said, her own smile widening. Amber helped Eli sit up, putting some extra pillows behind the brunette so he was comfortable. Eli looked over at Amber again." My name is Eli Julien, I'm an inventor"

"An inventor you say? My, you must be very good at your craft then, I assume?" Amber commented as she grabbed a roll of bandages from the tray beside her." I need to change your bandages and gauze since you had bled through your current ones, so please try to stay still"

The blonde woman said before taking off the clips that secured the bandages on Eli's body, then carefully unwrapped them. Her hands felt a bit cold, and that was something Eli noticed as Amber took the old bandages and gauze off.

Though he immediately let out a hiss from pain as she cleaned the wounds, but thankfully Amber was actually skilled at taking care of wounds so the cleaning was done good and quick. Eli relaxed a bit again as he felt new gauze and bandages being placed on the larger wounds on his arm and side.

The inventor spoke up."I must say, you are very skilled at taking care of wounds. Even ones caused by a Serpentine" he said, watching Amber secure the bandages once more before looking back at Eli.

"Thank you. I am a nurse, so I know quite a lot about dealing with many types of injuries, especially ones cause by different creatures like Serpentine" Amber explained before setting everything back onto the tray again." Are you feeling hungry or thirsty right now, Eli?"

The young man's heart nearly fluttered from how the woman said his name. He cleared his throat a bit befire answering."No, I am not, at least for now. Though I do still feel tired"

Amber nodded in understanding before she stood." Alright, then I will leave so you can rest more" she helped Eli lay back down, though little did he know that he was already on Amber's mind as well.

"Wait" Eli called out almost immediately, though seemed a bit flustered, his good arm stretched out towards her. Amber looked back at Eli, a slightly worried look on her face."Yes? What is it?" She said in a soft voice again.

Eli seemed hesitant before speaking." Could ... Could you stay here with me? I-I don't think I can handle being alone right now with the condition I'm in...." He said, looking at Amber, a near pleading look in his hazel eyes.

Amber's expression softened to a smiling one."of course, I don't mind" she said before sitting down beside the bed, which was quite low, but comfortable. Eli took his glasses of and set them onto the nightstand before getting comfortable in the bed.

As Eli drifted off, Amber though to herself.

She had taken care of many people before, but for some reason, Eli felt like a special case. There was something about him that drew her to the inventor in some way. Amber couldn't figure it out.

She looked at the sleeping man on the bed again and took in some of the features she could see.

Tanned skin, almond shaped eyes with hazel irises, more rounded facial features and slightly messy brown hair that was mostly slicked back, save for a few strands that stuck out due to the pillow. Despite being an inventor, Amber thought Eli looked quite cute with how peacefully he slept, as if there was nothing to worry about.

Amber let out a soft sigh and smiled, leaning her head back against the edge of the bed.

She was going to make sure Eli was back to perfect health before he could go home.
