Hey Ida, I've been looking at the journals that keep appearing on your blog for a while and i have a question. bc i agree that they can be really pretty (and useful if nicely done), but it's also so much work?? [1/2]
[2/2] tbh I get a little stressed out thinking about doing it regularly and trying to come up with ideas and keep it looking nice. So the question is, what makes it worth it? For you, what is it with this way of organising life that makes you happy?
I agree, it definitely requires a lot of work (especially if you want every page to look symmetrical, organized and nice), but if there’s one thing I’ve learned since I started out, it is that if it causes more stress than joy then you should maybe think about why you’re doing it (for the tumblr posts? for yourself? to actually be organized? as an creative outlet?). I don’t always spend a lot of time journaling every day, some days have almost-blank pages and I’m fine with that, and some day’s are filled to the brim with tape and doodles because I’ve felt like it or just had the time. I wanna say there’s no right or wrong way to do it!! But yeah, to actually answer your question haha: personally I do it because it relaxes me, it makes me happy, when I have my journal and favorite pencils and stickers ready in front of me I feel like I’m in such a safe happy zone (which sounds kind of lame but idek when I’m really anxious it’s super effective cause it gives me something to do with my hands and focus on and it’s kind of productive too since I actually get things done if I write them down omg) and I don’t know, I just love being creative and feeling organized. I rarely even share photos of my own journal which takes a whole lot of the pressure away (meaning the pages doesn’t necessarily have to look 100% flawless, which the journals I reblog do) and I also don’t have to censor myself in it to not give away private information (because mine’s Very personal lmao).
Soo tl;dr : for me, journaling is so calming, and bullet journaling / “aesthetic journaling” is just a way of being organizing that simply works really well for me ^^
