November 18th The ghost in the mountains

It’s been about 3 months since I’ve been unfrozen. The world has gotten worse. Not just the climate but the people too.. I just don’t know what went wrong…. I miss everyone soo much…..

Anyway I’ve been traveling towards puli township to the yushan watchtower. I’m hoping that if some of the old computers will let me go through old accounts and I can access colleague’s research.

The view up the way is truly beautiful. As I get further up I hear locals talk about gangs near the watchpoint area. Knowing my luck they’d be right in front of it.

I try to get more information but no one in this town seems like helping.. Just as I was reaching the last stretch of road before the path became dirt and snow I saw an old man. He seemed so cold just in a thin jacket. I asked him why he was out in this area and he told me “I was in the mountains because I don’t belong in that town anymore.” Puzzled by what he ment I pulled out a blanket from my bag and wrapped it around him. He looked bewildered and I smiled “you may not belong there but it’s no reason to freeze.”

As I started once again on my way he stopped me. “Please Miss don’t go up there, there is evil in those mountains”. I told him I knew about the bandits. His face darkened with fear. “No Miss those bandits are nothing compared to the ghost I’ve seen…His face, it’s nothing but skeleton.“the last sentence had his voice trembling. It’s probably some legend…

I look up at the mountains the down at the man and smile. "As long as I don’t bother him he shouldn’t bother me right?” Waving goodbye I continue on my way.

I made it up about half way before it started to snow so I looked around and found a nice area to set up camp. So I’m here in my tent thinking about what that man said about a ghost being up here.. maybe it’s a wounded animal or something that needs help… I wanna look for it in the morning for abit before heading to the watchtower…

Well goodnight. Hopefully the ghost doesn’t bite. Haha
