Official Greeting:
안녕하세요! 소녀시대의 퍼스트 러브, 나탈리입니다!
(“Hello! I’m Girls’ Generation’s first love, Natalie!”)
∞Synopsis∞ ⁞ Kisho slept in the laundry for the first six months of knowing the girls
2005
“Hello? Wake up?”
Kisho blinked as a finger poked his cheek, he opened his eyes and gasped slightly as Tiffany looked down at him with worry. He rubbed his eyes and stood up, grabbing his pillow.
“Sorry,” He bowed softly.
“Why are you sleeping in the laundry?” Tiffany asked, “Isn’t it uncomfortable? And aren’t you suppose to share a room with Taeyeon?”
He fiddled with his fingers and looked around, keeping his pillow tucked under his arm. Tiffany titled her head and smiled, waving softly at him.
“It’s okay,” She smiled, “We don’t bite,”
“I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable,” Kisho explained, “I’m a boy..,”
“How old are you?”
“Thirteen,”
She gasped, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the laundry. Sunny and Seohyun both looked up at them as Tiffany pushed Kisho forward, the young boy holding the pillow to his chest, his hair covering his face.
“He’s thirteen!” Tiffany explained, “He’s the youngest,”
“Are you?” Sunny gasped, “But your so tall,”
Kisho nodded slowly, “I was born in 1993..,”
“Baby,” Sunny giggled, “You’re so young,”
An awkward smile spread across his face, showing his braces. Tiffany giggled and hugged his arm, pulling him over to the floor where the other two members sat. Seohyun pulled the headband from her hair and pushed it into Kisho’s, pushing the hair from his face.
“Ah, you're handsome,” Seohyun cupped his cheeks, “Are you Korean?”
“Japanese,” He gently accepted the bowl of rice from Sunny, “Half, anyway,”
“What else?” Sunny asked.
“Spanish,” Kisho explained, “My dad is Spanish,”
Tiffany pat his head, “No more sleeping in the laundry,”
it was when seohyun was reading out the fan comments and she read the “pls be born as snsd in the next life and i’ll be reborn as a sone as well”
everybody was talking about how sweet that comment was then sooyoung started laughing
yuri: choi sooyoung, why are you laughing?🤨
hyoyeon: is our sone’s sincerity a joke?🤨
hyoyul our head instigators
sooyoung: no no no, let me explain. i was listening to the comment and it touched my heart, it really did, but then i just heard jang harin say “i dont believe in reincarnation”
now everybody’s laughing😭😭😭 bcs why would she say that
meanwhile harin is just nodding bcs… she said it and she meant it
harin: how can i do something i don’t believe will happen
clip two: 2022 san diego comic con
the gotg3 cast was just talking about how much the movie meant to them and how much they’d miss it and how sad they were to say goodbye to it (i finally watched that movie and wow... the guardians are my family)
and then you have harin trying not to laugh bcs some of the cast was tearing up (mind you, she was too but thats neither here nor there)
karen: don’t laugh🫵
harin: im trying😔😁
and then it was her turn to say her little speech thing and she was talking about how much she appreciated everyone and would miss them
harin: these fun space movies have such a special place in my heart and–
and she stopped bcs she was getting emotional so she had to compose herself
pom, rubbing harin’s back: aw, dont cry
harin: wasn’t planning on it, babe😐
she locked in so fast it was comical😭😭😭
clip three: soshitamtam episode 4
harin was with hyoyeon and seohyun
the roommates back together or whatever
and she went to go get water when hyoyeon and seohyun were having their compliment session
she walked back into the room when hyoyeon and seohyun were tearing up on the bed
so naturally she started laughing
seohyun: unnie! you can’t laugh
she had to compose herself quickly
harin: i’m sorry, that’s my bad🤷♀️
clip four: pinyego with revolver cast
jaesuk: do you ever have this thing– i feel this way often. i look back at old photos and see how the company building has changed and evolved over the years. do you have that?
changwook: i do, yeah. it makes me feel a bit emotional
jaesuk: right! to see how it’s grown
doyeon: yeah, i think seeing the changes makes you go “wow, we’ve really grown”
then jaesuk noticed harin hadn’t said anything
jaesuk: what about you rinha?
harin: well… i don’t bother myself with things like that
she at least had the decency to sound a bit ashamed so we’ll give her that!
but obvi jaesuk was annoyed bcs… come on now, at least pretend to care 😭😭
clip five: amazing saturday with totn cast
during the little interview time in the beginning
boom: harin, is it right that this is your first kdrama in eleven years?
harin: yes. i’ve been mostly focusing on movies so far in my career
boom: does it feel special, going back to doing shows after such a long time?
harin: …should it?
boom: okay
then narae pointed out how the producers looked shocked and caught off guard
narae: they were probably expecting harin-ssi to say this was so meaningful
harin: well, i already filmed a different show last year… maybe that one felt special
clip six: yoo quize on the block with snsd
this was when they had been split into groups of two
jaesuk: to get the title of ‘nation’s goddess’ must be a huge honour, right?
harin: well….
and everyone started laughing bcs girl 😭😭 yes or no 😭😭
harin: i’m not sure about being the nation’s goddess, if i’m being honest. i think i’m moreso soshi’s goddess and that feels like a bigger honour
the editors even played such emotional/heartfelt music in the background
an: words in bold are english. words in [] are captions. pretend i released this earlier feedback and reblogs are much appreciated 💐
harin’s masterlist
look at harin being active! you already know sones were excited to find out that she was gonna be on an episode
hyoyeon: today’s guest is very stylish, so i tried dressing up a bit
and her outfit was saur cute!
hyoyeon first talked a bit about the meal she chose and why she chose it
hyoyeon: we had planned on meeting each other recently and eating bbq, but on the day we both had to cancel bcs things happened, so we’ll eat that today
then she called harin in and it got so loud bcs tell me why this woman entered singing hyoyeon’s name 😭😭
[sone, cover your ears]
hyoyeon: as expected, it’s loud from the second she walks in and– that’s a nice outfit
[easily distracted by pretty things]
harin: i know right, it matches my concept
hyoyeon: what’s your concept?
harin: flowy, pretty, ruffles
hyoyeon: you should’ve sent me the concept so that i could dress on theme
harin: you look pretty anyway, why are you complaining🙄🙄
[conversation has gotten derailed]
pd, whispering: introduction
but bless hyoyeon, she couldn’t hear what he was saying 😭😭
hyoyeon: pd-nim keeps whispering something. can you just spit it out for me?
pd, louder: introduction
hyoyeon: oh right! how could i forget?😬
harin: how could you forget😒
all hyoyeon could do was sigh and shake her head “this is the problem with working with your friends everyone. heed my warning”
harin: can you introduce me already?
hyoyeon: *sigh* if i have to🙄🙄 i’ve steadily been having the members on this program, and now it’s this member’s time to come here. my friend of… how long have i known you?
harin: i met you before we debuted. i met yuri first and then you a few months later, so that was 2005
hyoyeon: that means we’ve known each other for 21 years😳😳
[this is not a still image]
harin: should we separate?
hyoyeon: i think that would be best
harin: it’s been nice knowing you
hyoyeon: you too
[still no introduction]
hyoyeon: stop distracting me! my friend of 21 years, harin! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 please greet the viewers
harin: hello, i’m harin. nice to meet you
and everyone clapped for her
hyoyeon: do you remember the day we were supposed to get bbq?
harin: yeah… we have really bad scheduling skills. that wasn’t the first time we had to cancel
hyoyeon: we both work too much😔
harin: let’s retire
hyoyeon: let’s
[retirement at the age of 36?]
hyoyeon: but we couldn’t meet then, so we’ll meet now. i’ve already started grilling meat, so you can assemble your wrap now
harin: the meat is grilling though
hyoyeon: yes, just do the wrap
harin and her head tilt when she’s confused
harin: make a wrap with what?
now everyone’s laughing bcs what’s going on😭😭
hyoyeon: i was a bit worried this would happen. honestly, harin and i don’t have the best communication skills. we’ve known each other for so long, but one thing we can’t do is understand each other. it always happens, where one of us gets confused by the other
meanwhile harin is still trying to figure out what she’s supposed to make her wrap with bcs the meat isn’t done grilling
badabing, badaboom, the meat is done and they’ve made their wraps and are eating
and it obvi got quiet on the set bcs they were eating but then hyoyeon remembered she has a show to host
hyoyeon: since we’ve been friends for so long, do you remember the first time we met?
harin thought for a few secs and flipped over the meet that was on the grill
harin: not really, no. the only member i distinctly remember meeting is yuri, but that’s only bcs she vomited on me
[what a great (?) first impression]
hyoyeon: ah, yuri… she’s wild like that
harin: i remember being told there was a trainee who was really good at dancing, but i wasn’t training in dance so i didn’t really care😭 i assume they were talking about you
hyoyeon: wah… i should’ve made a longer lasting impression. should i have fainted on you?
harin: that would’ve annoyed me. even when yuri got sick and vomited, i was so annoyed😭🙄
hyoyeon: what about seulgi? she was on the show and said you two are close friends. do you remember when you first met?
harin: … it must’ve been at smtown or something. you know, when we take those group pictures? maybe it was then, but who knows🤷🏻♀️
hyoyeon: right. that was always so awkward for me. you’ll be placed next to people you’ve never spoken to in your life and you have to make the first move and initiate conversation bcs they’re too scared to
harin: it’s all just a lot of work
she took the meat off the grill since it was done grilling, turning the grill off
harin: why am i tending to the meat?
and hyoyeon just laughed bcs what even can she say😭
hyoyeon: no, no, i’m making you a wrap now, that’s why i wasn’t focused there
[like true friends, they argue like a married couple]
hyoyeon: we’ve talked about this before, but we really wouldn’t have survived in the dorm without you
harin: yeah, you guys are useless
hyoyeon: calling us useless is taking things a bit too far, but i will admit that you did almost everything. she would iron yoona and seohyun’s school uniform for them, she’d organise the fridge neatly, she’d tell us to clean up every now and then… the only thing she didn’t do was cook
harin: why would i?
hyoyeon: there were days we’d be starving and we had nothing ready to eat and harin knew how to cook but she refused to😒
harin: i don’t like cooking🤷🏻♀️
“so she’d just let us go hungry”
harin: but i made you a sunday roast once
hyoyeon: once
harin: ... should i just slap you?
hyoyeon: eat here
so far, the episode has but been rinhyo rage bating each other😭
harin: i just remembered this, we talked about seulgi earlier… she’s in my music video
hyoyeon: really?😲 why didn’t you call me?🤨
harin: we can’t even meet for lunch and you think we’d be able to meet for a music video shooting😒
slight time jump bcs i can🤷🏻♀️
hyoyeon: when it comes to harin, she can’t recognise people in pictures. but the funny thing is she’s always attracted to herself
and the crew started laughing bcs wdym by thaat 😭😭😭
hyoyeon: the other day in our gc, tiffany sent an old picture of us and harin said the person on the far left was really gorgeous… she was talking about herself 🙄 she didn’t know it but still
harin: it only makes sense that im the only person who can impress myself
and now the entire crew is wheezing
[highest form of self love]
hyoyeon: the last time we performed as girls’ generation… it’s debatable. the last time we all performed was during ‘forever 1’ promotions, but some of us performed with you on your tour
harin: that’s right, we sang ‘genie’
hyoyeon: im sure fans are curious about how that happened
harin: as is human nature
hyoyeon: so why don’t you tell them?
harin: well *makes herself a lettuce wrap and eats it* from the second the tour was announced, for some reason, all everybody could talk about was ‘madison square garden, put it back on’. my manager kept showing me posts fans were making about how they really wanted to see that, so i decided to be nice for once and make it happen
hyoyeon: she texted us in our group chat and asked who would be available, but stressed that tiffany had no choice but to go
harin: it’s her line 🤷🏾♀️
hyoyeon: she said she’d pay for our hotels and flights and it shocked me! harin doesn’t like spending large amounts of money, so paying for four tickets and hotels… that’s a lot
“well the company payed for everything so… why would i pay for that out of my pocket???”
she was so confused 😭
hyoyeon: harin is a total tsundere. total tsundere
[everyone knows this]
hyoyeon: i remember one time, i wasn’t feeling well, i was a bit sad. and i was sitting on the couch by myself, then harin walked up to me and told me stand up. she was so mean about it!
harin: i thought you were praising me, now you’re just complaining🙄
hyoyeon: let me tell my story🙄 so she very rudely told me to stand up, so i did, and then she did something really amazing… she hugged me! 🤯🤯🤯
and the producers just kinda chuckled bcs… what’s so great about that?
hyoyeon: back then, harin really didn’t like physical affection. if we hugged her, she’d suck it up and accept it, but she never hugged us. so it was a really big moment and i almost started crying. then i asked her “why are you doing this? what’s this for?” and what she said… do you remember?
meanwhile harin is eating her bbq and trying to hide the fact that she’s blushing
harin: just tell your story and finish
hyoyeon: she said “i love you too much to not know when you’re sad”
then the producers started awwing
harin: is it really that remarkable?🥱🥱
[pretending she doesn’t care, how cool]
hyoyeon: you and i have something in common
harin: what is it?
hyoyeon: we both know the pain of being seohyun’s roommate
the sigh harin let out😭😭
harin: to be seohyun’s roommate is to know true heartbreak
hyoyeon: she’d come home from school or the company and she’d excitedly say “unnies, i got snacks!” and she’d be buzzing with excitement!
harin: practically jumping up and down! then we’d get excited also and she’d pull out her snacks and show us… a packet of baby carrots😔
hyoyeon: if we were lucky, she’d give us nuts😔
[the pains of living with healthy seohyun]
their voices were so depressed they were basically reliving those moments all over again
harin: and we honestly didn’t give–
hyoyeon: don’t get too comfortable
harin: you’re right. i should remember where i am
hyoyeon having to remind harin not to swear 😭😭😭 harin being so comfortable with hyoyeon she forgot she was on camera 🥹🥹🥹🥹
harin: we didn’t care for whatever healthy snack she would bring, but she was always so excited so we had to also be excited for her
“we’d pretend to be over the moon that she got organic apples and then we’d cry in the shower” hyoyeon please 😭🤚
then she started complaining about the fact that harin and seohyun would hold book club meeting in their room
hyoyeon: you two would be discussing your books for hours! one time you guys argued for three hours bcs u had different opinions about the ending to a book 🙄
harin: so????? and you weren’t a nice roommate either!
hyoyeon: i was an exemplary roommate!
harin: how many times did i have to wake you up bcs you were sleeping on top of me🤨🤨🤨
hyoyeon: but that can’t be helped 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
meanwhile harins just rolling her eyes
hyoyeon: we’ve learned to accept these things about each other
harin: how long did we live together?
hyoyeon: from 2007 to… 2017?
harin: common law marriage😐
she said it with the most deadpan expression 😭😭
[sudden marriage declaration]
harin: something interesting is that we treat seohyun like she’s five years younger than us but she’s only two
hyoyeon: right? people think we have a big age gap with her but we don’t
harin: and it’s funny bcs minho and kibum are the same age as her, but i don’t treat them the way i treat her
then hyoyeon had a light bulb moment bcs she realised the same thing
harin: i treat taemin like how i treat seohyun
hyoyeon: so it’s maknae privileges… if only i was the youngest in my family😔
harin: are you saying u hate ur brother??? 😲😏
[a masterclass in how rumours are made]
hyoyeon: i didnt say that!
harin: we’ll agree to disagree
hyoyeon: are you going on tour for this album?
[shameless changing the topic]
harin: a decision hasn’t been made about that
hyoyeon: why not?
harin: i’m not sure i want to. i just don’t feel like it bcs here’s my problem: if i were to go on tour, i’d want to go to more countries than the last tour, but if i go to more countries then the tour will be longer
hyoyeon: ahhh, that’s an understandable concern
harin: so then i was thinking of maybe just doing 20 concerts in major cities around the world, but that means some fans won’t get to attend. so then i thought of maybe doing one concert in korea and moving on with my life, but doing only one concert is a waste, isn’t it? so now i’m thinking of just not doing anything🤷
the cameramen and producers started laughing bcs… why the heck is her solution to just not do anything 😭😭
meanwhile hyoyeon was also laughing but bcs that very much so sounded like the harin she’s known and loved for most of her life
hyoyeon: when all else fails, harin’s determination to not do too much will prevail
“It’s the only answer to this problem” harin don’t care 😭
hyoyeon: but what’s very funny about harin, when she was on tour, many people were talking about how they didn’t know she was such a good dancer, but what they don’t know is she’s an even better dancer than she shows! she’s just lazy
then harin started protesting bcs “if i wanted people to know i was a good dancer, i’d dance better”
hyoyeon: do you guys understand why i say she’s lazy? even when you think she’s giving her all, she isn’t. and it’s even worse with her singing! she can sing way nicer than she does in public
harin: once i set a standard then i have to maintain it, so i’d rather underperform
hyoyeon: you can’t perform at 100% all the time
harin: right. and some people are idiots who struggle to understand the concept of me not wanting to belt all the time
harin hates stupidity if you haven’t already noticed 😭😭
“if i decide to do falsetto instead of belting then people start crying”
hyoyeon: you’re better than me! if i had your voice i wouldn’t speak anymore 😭
harin: if you had my voice you’d be the lead vocal of hyorisoo
then hyoyeon got confused
hyoyeon: i dont have your voice…
harin: yeah, if you did. operative word being if
hyoyeon: but i dont…
harin: what is your issue 🙄🤨
[miscommunication issues]
hyoyeon: ah, if i had your voice!
harin: it’s what i’ve just said, that
hyoyeon: who do you think should be the lead?
harin: … i dont care 😭
hyoyeon: pretend you do
[she’s undeterred by harin’s flippant attitude]
harin: wasnt it originally called ‘shy’
hyoyeon: but i’ve started my campaign to be main vocal so we should change the name
harin: shouldn’t it be hyorisoo anyways? bcs taetiseo is in age order anyways so… yah, just pull seniority and stop wasting your time
[not-so-harsh scoldings]
time skip bcs why not
hyoyeon: talk about your album now
harin: why are you bossing me around🤨
hyoyeon: no im not sweetheart im just hosting 😊
and the producers started laughing bcs… these women are so unserious
harin: my new album nara is coming out soon, listen to it a lot… yeah that’s it 😐
hyoyeon: why are you so bad at this 😭😭 why is the album called nara?
harin: i was almost named nara but my parents were told to name me harin, and when we debuted i wanted my stage name to be nara but the company said that harin suited me so i wasn’t allowed to. since this is a personal album, i decided to name it after myself
hyoyeon: oh is the album personal? 😲
the way harin just stared at her for a few seconds
harin: three songs have already been released by now and you’re asking me if the album is personal? 🤨 after listening to those songs already? 🤨
hyoyeon: i’m hosting! i have to ask questions for the viewers! what’s up with you???
the girls are so much fun today
harin: you should use that clip in the teaser to make people think we fight
[pro-idol knows the power of clickbait]
and the producers are wheezing bcs why was that her first thought??? 😭😭😭
hyoyeon: wouldn’t it be better if you pretended to cry… 🤔
harin: be serious 🙄
hyoyeon: right
and the producers are wheezing again bcs rinhyo are taking this so seriously 😭
harin: how about you yell at me and then i swear at you?
hyoyeon: that could work!
[clickbait skit: take one!]
hyoyeon: please introduce your album to the viewers 😊
harin: just do it for me
hyoyeon: how can i introduce your album 🤨🤨🤨 do it yourself!
harin: will it kill you to say three sentences 🤨
hyoyeon, standing up: WHY COME ON THIS SHOW IF YOU WONT FOLLOW THE RULES
harin, standing up: YOU [redacted] [redacted] YOURE ACTING LIKE IM ASKING FOR A [redacted] ARM AND LEG
then they started laughing and sat down
hyoyeon: pls edit that nicely to attract viewers 😊
harin: we worked really hard on it 😊
hyoyeon: but if im being serious for a few seconds, the members got to listen to two songs from the album, and they’re really nice. listening to those two songs as well as the ones that have been released so far… it took me back to those times that i haven’t thought about in a while. i cried
harin: she did 😐 you, tiffany, sooyoung, and yoona cried after hearing the first song then everyone else started crying after hearing the second song
hyoyeon: yeah… and then you kicked us out
harin: of course
[lucky draw time]
hyoyeon: your fans sent a lot of quest for you to answer. please pick some
a staff member brought over the container with the questions
question: if you were stuck on a deserted island, what are 3 things you’d bring with you?
harin: toiletries. my soap, wash cloth, towel, shampoo, deodorant, tampons, moisturiser… what else? sunscreen! mosquito repellent… that’s number one
[already more than one item…]
hyoyeon: as expected, she’s being so practical
harin: the second thing would be… a grill set and food. the grill would obviously have to come with matches or a lighter, otherwise i’d be done for. naturally, it’d also come with pots
[naturally…?]
hyoyeon: that’s more than one thing, though🤔
harin: it’s a set
[obvious explanation]
hyoyeon: so it comes with potatoes and things like that?
harin: exactly. three bags of everything. hopefully this island has a large cow population or something
hyoyeon: right, you need to have meat
[this sounds like a holiday]
harin: and my last thing… it would probably be… maybe an aeroplane with an instruction manual on how to fly it
hyoyeon: AN AEROPLANE?
harin: well, where am i supposed to sleep? and go to the bathroom? and prepare to go back home? and purify my water? and entertain myself?🤨🤨
hyoyeon: ENTERTAIN YOURSELF
harin: with boardgames and things like that. a few books. a dvd set, maybe.
[the list keeps growing and growing]
hyoyeon: you’re really something, jang harin😭😭
harin: was i supposed to sleep on a giant leaf?🤨 i don’t even like camping so what makes you think that in this hypothetical situation, that i’m in control of, i’ll be suffering?🤨 do you even know me at all?🤨
hyoyeon: … why suffer unnecessarily, right?
harin: exactly
[second question]
question: is there a difference when you speak english vs italian vs korean? does your attitude change? do your mannerisms change?
harin: of course! i’m not really aware of it but im sure i act differently
hyoyeon: let me answer this question
[eye witness report on harin’s behaviour]
hyoyeon: you swear more when you speak english. you’re more polite when speaking korean
harin: but i still do swear
hyoyeon: of course you do. your voice is also higher when speaking english in comparison to italian and korean
harin: true
hyoyeon: you’re quite cynical in all three languages, so that stays the same
harin: right
hyoyeon: you’re more affectionate in italian and korean, you use more petnames
harin: i agree
her little adlibs as she agrees with hyoyeon😭😭
hyoyeon: that’s what i’ve observed about you over the years
harin: stop paying attention to me
[time for the last question]
question: if you found out you had a clone, what would you do?
warnings: swearing; mention of menstruation, food, childbirth
an: it’s done finally! sorry if the ending seems rushed, i so desperately wanted to finish this. feedback and reblogs are much appreciated 💐
harin’s masterlist
Harin swatted Dongwook’s hands away as she applied her blush. He had spent the last ten minutes trying to distract her, but she had to get ready for her dinner with Tiffany and Yoona. It had been a while since the three women had seen each other and, since they were the only of the members available to meet up, they decided to do just that.
“Keep your hands to yourself,” she lightly scolded, glancing at him through the mirror. She resisted an eye roll at the slight pout on his face.
“Why?” He asked, once again reaching for her hip. He pulled her body back against his and started pressing kisses to the back of her neck. “Just stay home with me.”
A laugh bubbled out of Harin’s throat at her husband’s behaviour. “That’s not an option. I already told Tiffany and Yoona that I’d be at dinner, there’s no getting out of it now, not without a real and legitimate reason.” Dongwook sighed behind her, the action tickling her skin. “You’re acting like I’m leaving forever, I’ll be back by nine,” she pointed out, swapping the blush for mascara.
“I thought you guys were just going to dinner.” He raised an accusatory eyebrow. “If your reservation is for half-past six, then what’s taking you so long?”
“Have you forgotten that my members like to talk?” She asked, carefully running the wand through her eyelashes. One of Dongwook’s hands moved to rest on her stomach, and she placed her unoccupied hand on top of his. “Besides, don’t act like you don’t have a crazy night ahead of you,” she teased, grinning when he pinched the skin of her hip.
The ‘crazy night’ in question involved feeding Haesoo her dinner then taking her through her nighttime routine before putting her to bed. By the time Harin arrived back home, Haesoo would have been asleep for at least an hour, meaning Dongwook would have an hour to do whatever he felt like (he’ll probably clean). As if she knew she was being talked about, Haesoo called out from their room, demanding attention. Dongwook pressed one last kiss on Harin’s shoulder before popping out of their bathroom. If it weren’t for the fact that their dogs made it their mission to always be watching Haesoo, Harin would’ve kicked Dongwook out of the bathroom ages ago.
Harin tried, and failed, to suppress the smile that always, always grew on her face when hearing her husband and daughter have their silly little conversations. Haesoo mostly babbled but she made sure to sprinkle in a few words here and there. The fact that Haesoo was turning one in two weeks threw her for a loop. Last time she checked, Haesoo was still five months old, babbling on a FaceTime call because Harin missed her little girl whilst she was on tour.
The vibrating of her phone pulled her from her thoughts. She swapped the mascara for lipstick, swiping it along her lips. Picking up her phone, she opened her messages and brought out her jewellery box.
Tiffany Hwang [18:12] I’m here! 💗
Im Yoona [18:14] You’re there already?
Im Yoona [18:14] Why so early?
Tiffany Hwang [18:15] I finished my schedule earlier than expected
Tiffany Hwang [18:15] Now I’m just having a drink, celebrating
Im Yoona [18:15] Celebrating what?
Tiffany Hwang [18:15] My period ends today!!!
Im Yoona [18:16] It’s a good day today~~
Harin sent cheering emojis before turning her phone off. She put on a pair of gold earrings, wearing a matching necklace. Just as she was about to reach for her rings, she paused her movement, her mind racing a mile a minute. Tiffany’s period finished today, she thought. Her period finished today. When does mine end? Did mine start? My period… She picked her phone up and went to her period tracking app, seeing that she didn’t bleed in the month of August. It wasn’t the first time Harin missed her period, and it probably wouldn’t be the last, but she couldn’t ignore the nagging voice in the back of her mind that said that this time was different.
“You’re stressing over nothing, Harin,” she mumbled, putting her phone back down. But still… She picked her phone up and unlocked it, quickly going to a convenience store website and ordering a packet of pregnancy tests. The tests weren’t going to arrive before she left, so she’d have to wait until she came back to check for herself. Checking herself in the mirror, she decided she was good to go and left the bathroom.
Dongwook gasped dramatically, drawing Haesoo’s attention from her toys. Poppins and Cucumber raised their heads then went back to lying down. “Oh, look at eomma,” he told his daughter, who started clapping.
“Pretty!” She cheered, looking proud of herself for saying the word her dad taught her for this very reason: to compliment Harin. The woman quickly forgot about her previous stress when she saw how excited her daughter was to see her.
“Do you think I look pretty, my love?” Harin picked up her daughter from the bed and pressed kisses to her cheeks, her heart squeezing at Haesoo’s giggles. She pressed a final kiss to her forehead and held Haesoo at her hip. The young girl reached for the end of Harin’s hair, running her fingers through it. Ever since Harin cut her hair short, Haesoo enjoyed playing with it.
“Why don’t you react like that when I compliment you?” Dongwook questioned.
“You’re not an eleven month old,” Harin quipped, smirking at the annoyed grunt he let out. She walked out of the bedroom, Dongwook trailing behind her with her bag in one hand and her knee-high boots in the other, not surprised to not hear the pitter-patter of the dogs’ footsteps. They would only move if Haesoo wanted them to.
When they got downstairs, Harin placed Haesoo on the ground and took her shoes from Dongwook, pressing a kiss to his cheek in thanks. She put them on and shouldered her bag.
“Do I look okay?” She asked.
Dongwook titled his head, pretending to evaluate her outfit. His eyes trailed over her cream high-neck halter top and denim maxi skirt. He sighed, lowering down to a crouch and taking Haesoo in his arms. “I’m not sure,” he said. “How does eomma look?” He asked the toddler.
“Pretty!”
“I think the same,” he said, sending a wink Harin’s way. He stood up, holding Haesoo in his arms. “Say bye-bye,” he instructed.
Harin would be a liar if she said her heart didn’t squeeze at the frown Haesoo made at the realisation that she would be leaving. She watched her daughter wave at her and stepped forward, pressing a kiss to the young girl’s cheek.
“I’ll see you later, okay?”
“Mo’ning?” Haesoo asked.
“I’ll wake you up with a song,” she promised, and watched as Haesoo began to smile. “Goodnight, my princess.”
“And what about me?” Dongwook questioned. “Do I get a kiss?”
Harin hummed as if deciding. “I don’t know. Should I give appa a kiss?” She asked her daughter, who immediately nodded. Dongwook wrapped his free arm around her, pulling her close to him and pressing his lips to hers. The kiss was soft, tender, Dongwook’s arm pulling her impossibly closer as he pressed his lips firmer against hers. Haesoo let out a short giggle at her parents’ display of affection.
Harin pulled back with a laugh. “I have to go now if I don’t want to be late,” she said, walking to the garage. “Have fun, my darlings.”
“You too, babe!”
Harin rolled her eyes at the joke Yoona made, a soft smile on her face. She took a sip of her soda, watching as Tiffany tried not to choke on her food, too busy laughing.
“Wait, wait,” she managed between a few coughs, holding up a hand. “Give me a second.” Once she regained her composure, she chewed her food and swallowed.
“Why didn’t you do that before?” Yoona teased before popping a roll of kimbap into her mouth.
“You were busy making me laugh!”
“Even when I leave home, I’m surrounded by children,” Harin groaned, picking up a leaf of lettuce and placing some beef inside.
“We’re more mature than Haesoo,” Yoona complained, her mouth still full of food.
Harin squinted her eyes at her member, showing her disbelief. “You guys even eat the same.” She shoved the wrap into her mouth.
“She doesn’t even know how to hold chopsticks!” Tiffany argued, her face going slightly red — whether that was from the alcohol or indignation was up for debate. “She doesn’t even know how to jump!”
Yoona nodded in agreement, having swallowed her food. “We know how to hold chopsticks,” she said in defense of her and Tiffany.
“And jump!” Tiffany added.
“But speaking of her, how is she?” Yoona asked. “Last time I saw her, she didn’t want to go near me until I gave her a toy,” she said, letting out a frustrated huff of air.
Harin felt her lips quirk up at the memory of Haesoo clinging to her, refusing to go to Yoona. “She probably just doesn’t remember you,” Harin had explained, trying not to laugh at how Yoona was sulking on the couch. “This is why you have to show her pictures and videos of me, so she doesn’t forget me,” she had whined in response.
“She’s fine. She’s recently been trying to sleep in the dog beds, which is lovely.”
Tiffany chuckled. “At least she's not eating the dog food?” She shrugged her shoulders. “Look at the bright side,” she encouraged.”
“I was talking about this with Sooyoung unnie,” Yoona began, “and we can’t believe she’s going to be one years old so soon. It feels like just yesterday you texted us that you gave birth.”
Harin felt the same way. She remembered the day she gave birth as if it were yesterday. It was almost midnight and she was so, so relieved to have given birth before the 22nd, as that was Hyoyeon’s birthday. That was the reason she held off on telling her friends and family that she had given birth. That and the fact that she was exhausted. On the 23rd, she sent a picture to every important person in her life, along with a short message: Lee Haesoo was born on the 21st of September at 23:51.
“Yeah. She walks and talks now.” Harin reached for her glass, taking a sip of the soda. “We’ve been singing Happy Birthday to her everyday for the past month to make sure that she doesn’t get startled when everyone starts singing for her.”
Tiffany and Yoona laughed at the visual. Haesoo’s birthday lunch was going to fall on her birthday, and Harin and Dongwook had invited friends and family to it. It wasn’t going to be a grand event by any means, just a lunch spread, a cake, and, finally, the doljabi.
“I’m so excited!” Yoona squealed. “I had so much fun shopping for her gift.”
“I’m sure you wanted to buy something for yourself as well,” Harin joked, smiling sweetly when Yoona pouted.
“I’m so sorry I’m missing it,” Tiffany apologised, not for the first time. “I’ve got practices and performances and–”
“I know,” Harin interrupted, placing her hand atop hers. Despite the indifference of her tone, her expression was sincere. “Doing a play’s a lot of work.” She shrugged. “This just means you have to be at all her other birthday parties,” she quipped, tapping Tiffany’s hand before pulling hers away.
Yoona laughed, throwing her head back at the face Tiffany made. “She looks so displeased.”
“But are you going to celebrate her birthday every year?” Tiffany asked hesitantly, trying to school her expression. “You don’t even celebrate your birthday every year,” she pointed out.
“Well, we’re not going to do a party every year, sometimes we’ll buy a cake and call it a day,” Harin said. “And then, when she’s older, if she says she wants a party every year, what choice will I have?”
“You’re a good mom,” Yoona commented, catching Harin by surprise.
“All of a sudden?”
“We all know it,” Tiffany said. “You’re amazing with Haesoo.”
“I know that,” Harin replied. If Tiffany and Yoona didn’t know her as well as they did, Harin would worry that they’d interpret her words to be cocky or arrogant, and not to be grateful. Of course she knew that she was a good mother, but she didn’t mind being told so every now and then. “Anyways, that’s enough talking about me.”
The conversation was then steered into Tiffany talking about her practice woes and how demanding the play was. As she gave Tiffany advice with how to deal with the exhaustion and body aches, she couldn’t help but feel lighter. As much as she loved spending her days at home with her husband and daughter, she also cherished the moments that led her outside with friends. This was just what she needed.
Harin put her hand on the doorknob, pushing the door open so she could walk inside. She didn’t turn on the light, instead letting the light from the hallway illuminate Haesoo’s room. Walking to the cot, Harin leaned over it and peaked inside, checking on Haesoo. The young girl was sleeping peacefully and would probably only wake up once during the night. Some days, she would sleep through the night, others she would wake up for a feeding.
Walking back to the door, Harin closed it, leaving it slightly ajar. She walked down the hallway to her room, pushing open the door.
“Hi, gorgeous,” Dongwook greeted, resting on the bed in his pyjamas. In his lap was a stack of papers, but he was scrolling through something on his phone.
Harin raised her eyebrow, her eyes zeroing in on the papers. “Is that work?”
Dongwook, to his credit, had the courtesy to look sheepish. As a couple, the two decided to not do anything work-related in their bedroom. Since they were both workaholics, they needed to establish boundaries between their work life and personal life. “I know, I know. But I just wanted to lay down and read my script.”
She placed her bag on the bench, pulling her socks off her feet. “It looks like you’re on your phone.”
“Well–” he rolled his eyes, scoffing– “I took a break.” His lips pulled up into a smile. “How was your evening?”
“Good,” she answered, moving through the bedroom to sit on one of the armchairs with a huff. “It’s always nice, seeing those rascals. How was your night?”
“A bit hard,” he sighed.
She began to take out her earrings. “Tantrum?”
Dongwook nodded. “She didn’t want to finish her food, and then she was upset that I took it away. It took me forever to calm her down.”
“Sorry, baby,” Harin apologised, removing her rings and bracelet. Whilst Haesoo was a relatively calm baby, she was still a baby, meaning she would get easily overwhelmed — by her environment and emotions — and cry. The fact that she wasn’t able to properly communicate what was wrong probably contributed to her frustration.
“It’s fine. She ate her dinner and she was fine after that.”
Harin nodded before standing up, collecting her jewellery in her hand. “Let me go change.” She disappeared into the bathroom, putting her jewellery in its respective cases. She retrieved her face wash and turned on the tap, lathing it onto her face so she could wash off her makeup. After she rinsed the soap off, she dried her face and applied her moisturiser.
“Oh, babe!” Dongwook called out.
Harin walked out the bathroom, standing by the bed as she fetched her pyjamas from behind her pillow. “Yeah?”
“A package you ordered came after you left,” he told her, pointing at her bedside table, where there was a small brown box.
Harin stared at the box, not recognising it. “Thanks.” She picked it up and started walking to the bathroom.
“Why don’t you change here?” Dongwook asked, putting his phone down.
Harin’s lips curled into a sly smirk as she looked at her husband. “I don’t want to distract you,” she teased, her eyes dipping down to look at the script across his lap. She laughed at the groan he let out, walking into the bathroom.
“I can multi-task!” He called out.
Harin bit her lip, concealing her smile as she put her pyjamas and the box on the counter. She shook the box gently, hearing a soft thudding sound. She made quick work of opening it, letting out a soft “Ah!” when she pulled out another box that had pregnancy tests. Somehow, her dinner with her members made her completely forget about her suspicions.
She looked anxiously to her bedroom, where she could hear Dongwook reading his lines aloud to himself, muttering under his breath. She knew he probably didn’t have time to go through his script during the day and that was why he was doing it now, so she didn’t want to disturb him, but she also didn’t want to take the test by herself. She let out a huff of air, resting her hands on the counter as she began to worry on her bottom lip, her eyebrows furrowing.
Trying to get out of her head, she focused on the soft sound of Dongwook redoing his lines with different intonations and emphasis on certain words, and felt her nerves settle a bit. Before she could change her mind, she walked back into the bedroom.
“Did you rethink my offer?” Dongwook asked. When she stayed quiet, he looked up at her, noticing how she was biting her lip. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Harin said, inwardly cursing the slight quiver to her voice. At Dongwook’s concerned look, she sighed. “Nothing’s wrong,” she repeated, her voice more clear and confident. “Um… Before I left, Tiffany said something about her period ending and it made me realise that I didn’t bleed last month. And I knew it was probably nothing, but there was… something that made me buy pregnancy tests, but I left before they got here, but they’re here now so…” she trailed off, looking at him expectantly. “Would you like to go find out if I’m pregnant?”
Dongwook gaped at her, a smile growing on his face, his eyes sparkling. “Yeah, let’s go,” he said, throwing the script to the side as he jumped off the bed.
Harin’s shoulder sagged, the tension leaving her body. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” He stood in front of her, taking her hand in his and pressing a kiss to it. “Let’s go.”
They walked into the bathroom together, and Dongwook opened the box of pregnancy tests. They decided to do three tests, just to be sure, and read the instructions. They followed the instructions as written, placing the caps on all three tests when they were done and setting a five minute timer.
“Do you know what you want it to say?” Dongwook asked from his position on the floor. He watched as Harin paced back and forth in their bathroom.
Harin shook her head. “I don’t know. I guess I’ll find out when I’m about to flip the test over.” She shrugged her shoulders.
“Well, whatever it says,” he began, his voice making Harin stop her movement, “it’ll be okay and the world will not end, okay?”
“Okay,” she sighed, running a hand through her hair. “I’m probably worrying for nothing.”
“It’s okay to be nervous, baby,” he comforted, standing up with a groan. Harin’s lip twitched, a tease on the tip of her tongue. “But I’m here with you, you’re not alone.” He held his hand out, looking at her expectantly. She placed her hand in his, laughing when he pulled her to him. He wrapped his arms around her, beginning to sway in place.
“Do you know what you want it to say?” Harin asked softly; if it weren’t for the fact that her head was nestled into the juncture between his shoulder and his neck, he probably wouldn’t have heard her.
His chest rumbled slightly as he hummed. “I do.”
“Are you going to tell me?” Harin asked, when he offered no further answer.
Dongwook shook his head. “No.” He pulled back slightly, so Harin did the same. They looked each other in the eye, and Harin felt warmth spread in her chest at the sincerity she saw in Dongwook’s eyes. “I’m fine with anything, my beloved.”
Harin hummed in response. “Has it been five minutes yet?”
Dongwook laughed. “It’s been one and a half.”
“Fucking time,” she muttered. “You’ll have to entertain me until the timer’s up.”
“How would I even do that?” He complained, poking her side. She let out a yelp, scrambling to get out of his hold. “You have to keep quiet, baby,” he scolded, smirking at her, “Haesoo’s sleeping.”
“If you don’t tickle me, then I won’t make any loud noises,” she said, swatting his hands as he reached for her. She pointed to one side of the bathroom, swallowing a laugh when he obeyed. This damn man, she thought, and his need to distract me from my worries. How I love him.
A quiet settled in the bathroom, neither of them having anything to say. Harin continued to gnaw on her lip, tapping her foot incessantly and Dongwook checked the timer on his phone every five seconds.
“Do you want me to do a ten second countdown?” Dongwook asked, drawing Harin’s attention.
“Why would you do a ten second countdown?” Harin questioned.
Dongwook shrugged, still checking his phone. “To make it more exciting.” He didn’t wait for Harin to respond before he started counting backwards, until he got to zero.
Slowly, so slowly, Harin made her way to the bathroom counter. She took the tests out of the cup, wiping them with tissues. Bringing one close to her face she looked at the test window, a gasp leaving her mouth. She quickly checked the other two, seeing the same result. She felt Dongwook place a supportive hand on her back, rubbing soothing circles.
“What does it say?” He asked. Instead of speaking, she showed him the sticks, letting him check for himself. “What does that mean?”
“It’s positive,” she breathed out, feeling his body tense in shock. She looked at him through the mirror, seeing a slowly growing smile on his face.
“It’s positive?” He asked, meeting her gaze in the mirror.
She nodded, biting her lip – this time to conceal her smile, not as a nervous tick. “We’re having another baby,” she whispered, putting the sticks down. She turned around, his hands going to rest on her hips.
“You’re pregnant,” he said, still a bit shocked. He rubbed his thumbs back and forth on her body. “How do you feel about it?”
“I… I’m happy. And nervous. And a million other things.” She breathed out a sigh, a slight furrow working its way into her eyebrows. “You?”
“Same as you,” he answered and pressed a kiss to her forehead. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips, swallowing the chuckle she let out. “Another baby,” he muttered against her lips before deepening their kiss.
Later, they would properly discuss everything they needed to — telling Haesoo, booking doctors appointments, rearranging their schedules — but for now, they wanted to do nothing more than bask in their happiness.

harin’s masterlist
“Your chicken looks nice,” Dongwook commented, eyeing the meat on Harin’s plate.
Harin dropped her gaze to her plate before raising it to look at her boyfriend. “It does, doesn’t it?” She asked.
The restaurant Dongwook had taken them to for dinner was definitely on the pricier side, and when the couple was checking the menu, he had told Harin not to order the cheapest thing on the menu like she usually did, a force of habit. She had decided on chicken tikka masala and Dongwook ordered chana masala, ignoring Harin’s raised eyebrow at his decision to not order something with meat.
“As long as you don’t start drooling over my chicken,” Harin had started when the waiter had taken their orders, “then I’ll support your decision.”
“Do you think I’ll get a rash if I don’t eat meat?” He had quipped. “You’re making a big deal out of nothing.”
Harin had merely hummed, a twinkle in her eye.
Now, Dongwook continued to stare at Harin’s chicken, even as he ate his food. Harin scooped some rice and chicken onto her spoon and ate it.
“How’s your food?”
Some light returned to his eyes as he focused again on his plate. “It’s very good,” he told her honestly. He put some food on his spoon and held it out for her. Leaning forward, she accepted the bite.
She hummed as she chewed. “Delicious.” She didn’t miss the way his eyes dipped to her lips before returning to her eyes. “Can I help you?” She asked when he continued to stare at her.
“Justt give me one taste,” he requested, brushing his hair on his forehead. “Just one.”
“For someone who swore he wouldn’t want my food,” she started, voice dripping with amusement, “you seem to be very close to begging for it.”
“Well,” Dongwook said, shrugging his shoulders, “you and I both know I’m not above begging.”
Harin chuckled, shaking her head as she scooped up some rice and chicken on her spoon and reached over the table to give it to him. He accepted the spoon and ate the food, humming in appreciation.
“Now was that so hard?” He asked when he had finished chewing. “You were acting like I asked for an arm and a leg,” he jokingly complained, tongue darting out to lick at some gravy.
Harin rolled her eyes affectionately, amused by her boyfriend’s antics.
The rest of their dinner went by quite the same: the two of them eating from each other’s plates as they talked—not about work; all work talk was banned for the night—and enjoyed their meals. For dessert, they shared a plate of barfi. By the time Dongwook had paid the bill, they were both full and satisfied.
They made their way out of the restaurant, making sure to thank their waitress for her hospitality, and went to the car, Dongwook opening the door for Harin. She slipped inside and shut her door as he dashed around the car to get in. He put he key in the ignition, the engine roaring a few seconds later.
“Dinner was nice,” Harin commented as she put on her seatbelt. Her body buzzed with the vibration of the car, her eyes drooping with tiredness. She had spent almost every day the past week at dance practices for Girls’ Generation’s comeback, and her body was sore and tired, the consequences of not stretching before dancing. And, of course, she was filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Barbie at the same time so jetlag was killing her.
“Are you falling asleep on me?” He asked, voice quiet as he pulled out of his parking space. The Bluetooth on the car automatically connected to Harin’s phone, smooth RNB filling the vehicle.
She shook her head, lowering the volume on the radio. “No, I’m awake. Just...”
“Comfortable?” He finished for her, grinning at her answering hum.
A quiet took over the car—well, save for the radio—as Dongwook focused on pulling onto the main road.
“Do you want to get ice cream?”
Laughter bubbled out of Harin’s chest. “At this time?”
Dongwook shrugged, coming to a stop at a red light. “Why not? As a treat? There’s an ice cream shop close to here that should still be open.”
“Do whatever you want, my love.”
Fifteen minutes later, they both had ice cream cones that they were eating. They routinely had licks of the other’s ice cream, just to taste something different, Dongwook complaining when Harin didn’t give him back his cone.
“You don’t even like mint chocolate!” He groaned when she took yet another lick, holding her ice cream in her other hand.
Her face soured with disgust as she continued eating. “And yet you continue to get it.” She finally handed it back to him, going back to eating her stracciatella.
He rolled his eyes. “Because I like it.”
“Freak.”
Once they had finished their ice cream, they continued their drive to Dongwook’s apartment. The drive was a blur for Harin, who spent most of it looking outside the window. One second they were pulling into his parking space, the next Dongwook was putting in the code to open the door to his apartment.
“Here we are,” he said as he opened the door. The overhead light turned on automatically.
She hummed in thanks when he shut the door behind her. He knelt down to change out of his dress shoes and into slippers before helping Harin step out of her heels. He put them in the closet, not bothering to give her slippers knowing she would end up leaving them somewhere. Meanwhile, Harin shrugged out of her coat, handing it over to Dongwook when he reached for it. She stifled a yawn as she walked to the kitchen, flipping the light on.
“Do you want water?” She called out to him, getting a bottle from the fridge.
“Water?” He responded, rounding the corner.
“To wash the sugar away,” she explained, twisting the cap on the bottle.
Dongwook laughed. “And to think I’m older than you,” he teased, poking fun at her lack of a sweet tooth.
“Ha ha,” she said dryly, taking another gulp of water. She offered him the bottle and he accepted. “I enjoyed tonight,” she told him. She rolled his eyes when he smirked around the bottle, he always did that whenever she praised him. “Don’t let it go to your head,” she warned, though there was no heat behind it.
He finished off the water, putting the bottle in the recycling. “Well, I aim to please. I’m glad you enjoyed tonight,” he said, reaching for her. He pulled her to him, turning her in his arms so that her back was to his chest, the back of her head resting on his shoulder. “What did you like the most?”
She had anticipated this question. They always made sure to ask each other about their favourite parts of their dates, it helped them get a better and clearer sense for what the other liked.
“The barfi was…” She trailed off, something she did often when tired.
“Your favourite?” He guessed, feeling pride burst in his chest when she nodded. He liked being able to know what she was going to say.
“And you?”
He hummed in thought, beginning to sway lightly. “The chana masala,” he answered truthfully. “It was really good.”
“It was,” she agreed. “I should get that next time.”
“You should.” He pressed a kiss to her shoulder, looking down at her. “You know I love you, right?”
“Of course you do,” Harin replied. She let out a light yelp when Dongwook pinched her arm.
“As I was saying,” he started with a roll of his eyes, “I love you. More than you can imagine. I can’t even begin to imagine what my life would look like without you in it. Can you?”
“Can I imagine your life without me in it?” She asked, closing her eyes as she felt Dongwook’s chest rumble with laughter behind her.
“Can you imagine your life without me?” He clarified.
Harin stayed silent for a few seconds as she thought. “Yes,” she answered.
Dongwook stopped swaying, having not expected that answer. “What, you… It’s that easy?”
“Yeah,” she said confidently. “But I don’t really like how it looks, so I’ll keep you around.”
Dongwook let out a sigh of relief, feeling his nerves calm. “You have such an interesting way of wording things,” he muttered, smiling when Harin chuckled in response. “So, what? You’re with me because you’d be miserable without me?”
“I didn’t say that,” she chided. “My life would obviously look different without you in it and I’m not necessarily a fan of how different it would look. I could learn to adapt to life without you, but I don’t want to. I want you in my life.”
“Yeah?” He asked, beginning to lightly sway again.
“Yeah.” She shifted slightly in his arms.
“Well, I want you in my life too,” he told her, voice soft by her ear. “I always want you in my life. For as much time as we have in this life.”
Harin grinned. “Sap,” she teased.
He shushed her. “You are… everything to me. You are my joy and my sadness, my calm and my fear, but mostly you’re my heart and my love.” He leaned back slightly, tapping her to get her to pull away. She turned around to look at him. He held her gaze wordlessly and took her hands in his, rubbing his thumb along her hand.
“What are…” She trailed off as she caught on to what was happening. A pressure settled in her chest. Not heavy. Just there. “Baby…”
Dongwook cleared his throat. “Harin-ah, I want to spend my life with you. I want to grow old with you and I want to laugh with you, dance with you, sing with you… I want to love you every day of my life.” Harin watched as he took a steadying breath. “Do you know what comes next?” He whispered softly, leaning in slightly.
She felt herself laughing as she nodded. “I do,” she replied, just as softly.
“Are you ready for it?”
She smiled warmly, resisting the urge to nip at her lip. “I am.”
Nodding, Dongwook let go of her hands, dipping his hand into his suit pocket as he knelt down on one knee. Harin tracked the movements with her eyes, the pressure in her chest intensifying. She placed her hands there, felt the beating of her heart. Retracting his hand, Dongwook pulled out a small, black, velvet box. Taking one last breath, he opened the box, revealing a ring.
“Jang Harin, will you marry me?” He asked.
The pressure in her chest released, causing her to drop to her knees. She rested her head on his chest, taking deep breaths to ease the fast-paced beating of her heart. Dongwook placed his hand on the back of her head, brushing through her hair.
“I’m gonna need an answer,” he teased.
“Give me a fucking second,” she chastised, though there was no heat behind it. Her hands reached up to rest on his waist as she finished composing herself. She took one last breath and pulled away enough to look him in the eye, hers glistening with unshed tears. “Yes.”
His arms immediately wrapped around her body, pulling her flush to him. His body rumbled with his joyous laughter, the sound filling the silence. Closing her eyes, she breathed him in, letting her lungs fill up with her love for him. So she told him. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he replied, squeezing her waist. They pulled apart enough for him to slide the ring onto her finger. He rubbed his thumb over it as they both stared at it, barely containing their joy.
“You want forever with me, huh?” Harin teased, looking up from the ring. She had to admit, it was gorgeous. It was a thin, gold band with a brass finish. In the centre was an oval labradorite gemstone. It was simple, understated. It was perfect.
“Yes, I do.”
“That’s a long time.”
“I’m counting on it.” He held a gaze, his eyes shining with his adoration for her. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
She didn’t know who moved first—maybe it was her, maybe it was him, maybe they moved together—but suddenly her lips were slanting over his. Her hands moved, settling in his hair, their kiss deepening as he let out a soft sound, parting his lips. A warmth unfurled in her chest as Dongwook’s hand brushed up and down her back. Slowly, eventually, they parted, chests heaving as they caught their breath.
“You’re my fucking fiancée,” he whispered.
Harin chuckled. “And you’re mine.”
