on a normal day, she'd fight his request. come up with reasons and excuses to keep away her desires, to keep her imagination from going too far. they were useless to him, always. but it worked wonders on her mind, at least for a moment. words echoing inside her head: you can't allow yourself to get attached to him. again, useless. she was already too attached. couldn't go a day without seeing him, even if it was only through the glass wall of his office, before someone called her name and she was pushed back to reality. had to breathe deeply whenever another woman decided they were worth his attention, batting eyelashes and touching his arm, so shamelessly. and especially late at night, when the world was fast asleep and she was still rolling in bed, his touch was the one thing keeping her awake. "okay" the response brings her back to the scene; the two of them standing in his office when everyone was already gone, bodies too close to call it a professional meeting, his breath invading her senses before she can even think about protesting. she could still fight. leave them both frustrated and walk away right now, but she's too tired for that. too tired to resist him, too tired to pretend she doesn't want him the same way. that his presence hasn't made her days better, that she can't help but smile when it's his face enlacing her thoughts.
