One would think that by now, Lucy would be used to scorching heat, what with Natsu's flames and him being a living, breathing furnace all the damn time. One would think, yes.

And yet.

“I'm either going to melt or suffocate,” she says, and doesn't even feel embarrassed about the way it comes out sounding like a petulant whine. “Throw my remains into the ocean, I am not long for this world.”

Natsu snorts, coming up from behind her. “You're being dramatic again, you weirdo,” he says in that teasing way of his that just about drives her mad on the best of days. 

But just when she opens her mouth and starts to turn to give him a piece of her mind, something cold touches her cheek. She jumps, startled with the sudden chill. “Wha-!” When her eyes focus again, there’s a glass of icy juice in front of her. 

“You’ve been whining about the heat since you got here, so,” Natsu says, sitting opposite her, his own drink in hand. He shrugs. Lucy wants to either kiss him or hit him over the back of his head, she’s not yet sure which. 

Both, probably, she thinks, drinking. “Thanks.”
