Shoutout to the Pinselwurm (I think it's called brushbuddy in English?) in Atelier of Witch Hat for being literally the only "obligatory cute mascot character" I ever fell in love with. These types of characters usually range from "annoying" to "don't care about them" to me and I could do without them in pretty much every story they show up in but for some reason the Pinselwurm/brushbuddy is different? It's such a basic, simple design but it's so goddamn adorable for some reason?? I just go "awwww~" whenever I see it. Probably helps that it's not trying to do some random skit routine or forced into the spotlight to take screentime away from the actual plot. It just hangs out around the characters like an actual pet, occasionally having a little plot importance here and there, but mostly staying in the background. You could probably easily ignore it in most instances. But I love spotting it in different panels, seeing how it reacts to stuff (adorably!) or what it gets up to (adorably!) while the other characters are doing their stuff. I'm just so utterly delighted whenever it shows up (adorably!)!
