What do you think of the new starters? I’m not so sure about the bird, but I’ve heard people say it might evolve to be a chicken. The gecko is kind of similar to Sobble but I think it’s unique enough and that it’s a gecko and not a chameleon. And I really like the dog.
(This is a special review in honor of Winds and Waves' announcement. Asks will return to the usual order after.)
Most starters are kind of bland, because they usually are just a springboard for the rest of the line, getting their "flavor" and theming as they evolve. In this case, Browt is basically just a chick with leaf eyebrows. It's basic, but it's cute and works well as a springboard for future evos.
The color palette is light yellow, with black for the eyes and legs; this retains contrast and keeps the attention on the eyebrows, which are the only green part of the body. The eyebrows themselves give it a clear personality, and I like how they directly connect to the beak instead of being a separate element. The body shape is also good, fluffy with some nice rounded elements. Like I said, simple, but it works.
My main hope for Browt evolution-wise is that it becomes a rooster (or even a chicken/rooster split evo, though that would be unlikely unless they gave the other starters one). You might be asking what a rooster has to do with SE Asia, but SE Asia is the home of the Red Junglefowl, which is what we domesticated into the rooster (image credit):
Somehow, we've gone this long without a true rooster Pokemon (Combusken is technically based off of one, but I'd hesitate to actually call it a rooster), so it feels long overdue and would be an interesting angle for it to take. Those eyes are already a bit angry-looking, which would fit with the aggressive nature of roosters; give it a leaf tail and some additional theming and you're all set.
Pombon is very cute, which is normal for Pomeranians. I like the "two braincells" look, which is charming and also normal for Pomeranians. The small size of the face relative to the body/floof helps with how adorable it comes across, and as an added bonus, the paw pads have the kanji for fire (火) on them:
My only issue with Pombon's design is that there's a lot of the same solid color without much to break it up. It has a bit of red at the top of its mane and a little more barely visible on its throat, stated to be from a "heat-generating organ within its lungs". Other than that, it's mostly just orange. It might be justified depending on where they go with its evos, but I do wish that maybe the pale area on its nose covered more of the face. Other than that, I have no complaints.
As for said evos, Pombon is the hardest to get any idea of direction for because there's just not much to go off of. Some have been worried it might become anthro, and while that's always a possibility, the fluff and bulk of it makes it harder to picture standing than some Pokemon (and it's not like all starters have been anthro—Skeledirge remains quadrupedal). As for theming, the only thing I can guess is maybe it gains a sun motif, just because it has a round mane and the red throat looks slightly like a sunset or something.
Gequa is my fav out of the three. Maybe I'm just biased because I owned a leopard gecko for a decade, but I feel like Gequa captures everything I like about them, from the distinct head shape and bit eyes to the very fat tail.
I also like how relatively complex the design is for a starter. As mentioned previously, starters tend to have pretty basic designs to build off of, so the eyelashes, deep purple eyes, and relatively complex markings are more detail than I'd usually expect, and give it some much-needed flavor. My only nitpick is that the head's a bit massive, but that's been a trend with starters for a while now so it's not exactly surprising.
My main guess as to what direction the evos are going in is that it's going to gain psychic typing, because the description on the main website states that it's "highly intelligent", and those dark purple eyes seem appropriate for psychic. I also think this might be the one that becomes bipedal, only because it already sits up during some of its animations, and it's easier to imagine it as somewhat anthro than Pombon. Like I said, we'll just have to wait and see.
Overall, a pretty good and strong set of starters. The silhouettes are all different, there's a good display of personality, and there's a lot of room to expand on what's here. I'll be very interested to see what direction things go in moving forward.
How would you compare the canon designs of the TADC cast and your personal take on them?
Asking as someone who loves how you draw Ragatha <3
ohhhh yayyy fun ask!! ^-^
my changes to the characters are driven by what i enjoy drawing instead of specific character design principles, and i actually try to keep changes to a minimum because i enjoy their canon designs and i wanna keep their essence...
but if anything, that makes the differences i did make more intentional so i still like to talk about it!!
i'll start from most to least obvious... and im sticking this under the cut because it's gonna be LONG
starting with ragatha!! i've said this before (in my tutorial for drawing her from a year or two back) but i try to make her recognizable by keeping her basic shapes present but modifying them to fit a different body type... liked giving her a wider, softer appearance as it came more naturally to me for drawing and it calls back to her original inspo (raggedy ann) in a way i think is pretty cute <3
and she's black mostly because i liked the idea of twists for her human hairstyle and the rest of the design followed suit! honestly surprised that i haven't seen that more? maybe it's too on the nose?? but i liked the idea of her having similar hair out of circus since it's such a key feature of her in my mind
here's a doodle of my human design because i don't think i've ever made it public? a bit outdated but the basic idea will still hold when/if i update her to current lore (though i don't really enjoy drawing humans in general so sorry she might not show up again </3)
i also changed her dress a bit. there used to be more details but i dialed it back... i think i only kept what i did because the wider chest looked kinda empty without something extra
a lot of the changes i made with ragatha were gradual... she was the design that gave me the most trouble at the start so i had to slowly figure out how i wanted to draw her... in some ways she's further from canon than my original take, but in most ways i think i brought her back to canon, just in a way that worked for me, and now i think she's one of my favorites to draw!! here's a lil redraw as a throwback to anyone who has been with me from the start hehe
okay next up, caine, who's got the most "intentional" changes... i just think he could have a bit more going on to make his design as flashy as his personality! i also tried to make him look more "official" like he's trying to present himself as in-charge
he also gets slight changes to body type and proportions... his head/teeth are smaller and a little thinner so i don't have to worry as much about how i fit his eyes in there, and i made his biceps a little beefier to strike a fun contrast with his dainty waist and legs hehehe
anddd jax and pomni who i paired up because this screenshot was cute...
jax is more rabbit-like because i like giving anthro characters more animal characteristics than canon because i'm a furry at heart... he gets big ol feet, big ol ears, and a fuzzy tail. even if he annoys me i might as well make him fun to draw :P
also more detailed overalls bc he seems like the kind of guy to always have his hands in his pockets and i had to add more details so that wouldn't look out of place
pomni's a bit of an odd case because i actually did have a more unique design for her back in the day but i slowly reverted back to canon... see below! she just has a fun design which is a big part of why i like her so much, and i guess in the end i couldn't really improve much on peak
ribbit is likely due to change whenever they actually appear in canon... wanted just a bit more patterns and animal characteristics to distract from the fact that they are kinda butt naked??? so i took some inspo from red eyed tree frogs to also work that pink into the design a bit more
anddd the rest of the characters i have very little changed for, so i'll let my brief notes speak for themselves
ok i hope some of you got a kick out of that!! if anyone has anything specific about my takes on the characters that they're curious about, ask in the comments and i'll respond to the best of my ability :'D
Hi, everyone he’s the first chapter of my new Patreon stories, if you liked it, I have just put up the second one with even more horny, furry action! Do check it out:
Hi everyone, here's the second chapter of The Kennel. As the concert hall erupts into chaos and the club's regulars turn into hulking anthro
Greg slowly pushed his way through the mass of hairy, leather clad bodies, the stench of sweat and foul tobacco burning itself up his nose as he tried to scan every face in the dim, hazy room. His chest felt almost unbearably tight, but the smell and the crush of people in the crowd were only a part of the reason... That argument he had with his son last night kept on replaying itself inside Greg’s head over and over, he really shouldn’t have said all those things… that Chase was throwing his life away and not thinking one bit about his future, then nearly threatening to kick him out if he didn’t get serious about his education… maybe not exactly “nearly”...
He wished so badly that he could have phrased that better somehow, but this was his son’s last year in college! Anything he did now was going to affect his whole life moving forward! Sure, his grades were not the worst, but Greg knew that Chase could do so much better! If only he didn’t spend every single weekend night bouncing from one club to another as if he was trying to beat the record for the highest number of attended heavy metal concerts in one’s early twenties. Who knows, he was always such a bright guy that maybe if he’d put his mind to it, Chase might have even made it to valedictorian!
When Greg saw him once again trying to sneak out of the house wearing those ripped jeans and some ratty t-shirt, he simply lost it. And now it’s been almost two days since his son had stormed out without a word, slamming the door so hard that one of the old framed photos of himself fell off the wall and smashed to the ground. Not a single one of Greg’s texts or calls have been returned till now. He had tried calling his son's friends, or at least those scant few that he got to meet over the past few years, but they were either playing dumb or genuinely didn’t know where he might find Chase.
Everyone’s best guess was to just look around in one of the music clubs he always hung out at. But that was definitely easier said than done… as if Greg even knew a single one of those kind of places! He spent practically the whole evening driving around from one side of town to the next, showing off his son’s photo and asking every bouncer, bartender or club goer if anyone there had seen him. Greg wasn’t sure if he should have felt more relieved or disappointed that a good deal of them have actually recognized Chase, even though neither had seen him around today.
Even though Greg always left behind his phone number in case his son turned up later that night, Greg wasn’t entirely sure if he could really trust people dressed like them to behave like responsible adults. Still, little by little Greg found himself beginning to run out of places that the map in his car’s GPS would suggest and he didn’t seem to be getting any closer to finding Chase. He was slowly starting to think about returning home, but the thought of going back to the completely empty house and spending yet another night alone while worrying himself sick seemed like simply too much to bear.
“Fuck off dude…! I don’t know you and I’m sure as hell not going anywhere near that place ever again!”
Greg was just about getting ready to set off for the next spot when he heard a raised, intense voice cutting through the loud music booming from the club’s entrance. It belonged to some young metalhead in his early twenties who might have very well been his son, wearing the same kind of a black t-shirt with a band logo Greg wouldn’t have been able to decipher for the life of him and a pair of torn up jeans. The other person that the younger guy was speaking to was something else entirely though…
Simply put, he was freaking massive, way more than two meters tall if Greg had to guess and while he was also wearing a t-shirt of some metal band, his was stretched over a huge gut with a decent part of it hanging right out from underneath it and covered in a forest of dense, black hair peppered with specks of grey. But even from his car, Greg could see that the man wasn’t all fat. The short sleeves of his t-shirt were completely torn off with frayed fabric strands loosely hanging around, probably the only way he could put the thing on with such enormous biceps the size of a pair of smoked hams!
The younger guy was quickly backing away and looked so freaked out when he found himself pinned against the wall, waving away the smoke from the cigar clenched between the bearded giant’s yellowed teeth. Frankly, Greg’s first thought was to do nothing else but double check if his car door was locked when he saw the type, but as soon as the metalhead said something in his cracking, scared voice about one of his friends going missing in the club that the huge man was talking about, alarm bells began going off inside Greg’s head and he was out of the car and rushing towards the pair in a heartbeat. Could this be what had happened to Chase too?!
As soon as he heard Greg’s footsteps, the giant cursed and turned around, as if he wasn’t expecting anyone else to show up. But just that was enough for the younger man to slip from between the club’s brick wall and the hirsute behemoth’s bulk as he immediately bolted past Greg. Immediately, the hirsute hulk’s face shifted into a frown and Greg was starting to have some major second thoughts about whether daring to approach him was such a good idea. Somehow he seemed even more intimidating up close, completely dwarfing Greg with his immense size, smelling like an old ashtray from even a good few meters away with that unkempt, bushy beard of his visibly matted with tobacco spit and god knows what else. But what was most gruesome and unsettling by far, had to be the guy’s tattoos!
Greg had already spotted them from a good bit away, but only up close could he actually make out what they were depicting underneath all that dense hair which covered the giant’s massive, sprawling arms. Greg had seen plenty of men with them today, the usual fare of nasty flaming skulls and bones, some demon or a half naked pin up girl scribbled in crude ink. That wouldn’t have fazed him one bit by now, but… he really wouldn’t have taken the guy for the type, but the people pictured on them not only weren’t women, but Greg wasn’t entirely sure if he could call them “people” at all! While they were completely naked, showing off their huge and fully erect cocks, sometimes mid stroke, only wearing leather jackets, chaps or harnesses, their faces weren’t human in the slightest!
There was a bear, a bulldog, one had a face of a rhino with his long, thick tongue lolling far out while a hulking, mustachioed gorilla covered completely in silver fur fucked him from behind. Every last one of them smoking huge, thick cigars like the guy in front of him was doing himself! Greg let out a shocked gasp when he realized that he could only make out the horny grin on the beast’s face so perfectly well because the bearded giant’s protruding gut was now just mere inches away from his own chest.
Greg's mouth had gone completely dry and his first instinct was to do nothing else but turn around and try running like the younger guy did, but a single glance at the man’s sharp, predatory eyes was enough to make Greg absolutely certain that the same trick wasn’t going to work twice. No one knew that he was here, no one inside this club would even hear him scream with how loud the music was! His heart was hammering so hard, he began to panic as he fumbled with his phone, pulling it out with trembling fingers.
“I… I’m looking for my son, Chase, maybe… maybe you’ve seen him?!”
Greg managed to blurt out, his voice somehow coming out a lot more high-pitched than normal as he held the phone with its screen up to the man’s face. Showing that same photo of Chase he took himself during Christmas two years ago, the one sole time he’d managed to convince his son to wear something normal for a family visit. Greg started to explain that Chase had been missing for two days and that he’d been searching for him everywhere. Suddenly he started to sound so desperate and helpless with how all of this began to pour out of his mouth but at this point Greg didn't even care anymore.
Surprisingly enough that seemed to have caught the giant’s attention. He took a short glance at the photo, but overall, for some strange reason spent the vast majority of the time looking over Greg himself from the top to bottom. Slowly a faint grin crept its way underneath his wild, matted beard and the man reached down to adjust his crotch, grabbing the obvious, large bulge with his hairy, calloused hand, almost giving it a squeeze. All without as much as a single blink as he stared Greg down while his face flushed red, burning with sheer embarrassment. But at the same time he almost couldn’t believe it when the giant finally spoke after taking a deep drag from his cigar and blowing some of it directly into Greg’s face.
“Heh, sure I recognize ‘im! I saw that cub at The Kennel just yesterday, he’s a regular! Bet that if ya hurry yer ass up and get there before they lock the place up for tonight’s show, you’ll find ‘im there for sure pops!”
Greg felt himself getting a little queasy as the hirsute giant’s bearded grin proceeded to get even wider and more menacing but he also felt a sense of relief he’d nearly given up hope for as the man proceeded to explain how to find this underground music club that his son supposedly frequented. Greg wasn’t sure how he could trust that man, in truth, he didn’t in the slightest, but what other option did he have? It sounded like it was located somewhere in the long abandoned industrial district at the outskirts of the town. The instructions were pretty vague but the man said that once Greg was in the area, it wouldn’t be too difficult to find someone who could point him in the right direction. He just needed to remember to say it was Tusk who’d sent him… just in case.
He didn’t feel like inquiring what the man might have meant by that exactly and just gave him a timid nod before running off back to his car. By now he was more than happy to simply have an excuse to get away from all that billowing smoke which the giant kept on showering him with as he spoke. Greg’s head was swimming so much that it took him a few long, frantic tries to as much as get the key into the ignition. Even a good while later after he drove off, Greg’s thoughts still felt a little fuzzy, constantly wandering back to that hulking, hirsute man… and somehow especially his tattoos.
The renderings of those massive, beefy half-men, half-beasts were so ridiculously crass and disgusting, Greg had never seen anything quite like it… that no doubt had to be the reason why he simply couldn’t get them out of his head… Above all there was that one tattoo of a massive walrus-man that Greg had only noticed later, sprawling wide across this brute’s other arm. It showed him standing in a commanding pose as if he owned the place, flexing his biceps, massive tusks sticking out of a wild, greying beard with a fat cigar clamped right between them.
Even though Greg knew it was just a drawing made with old, fading ink, it somehow really reminded him of that exact man on whose arm it was etched on. The body shape was pretty much the same, only even beefier, so was that big, hairy beerkeg of a gut and judging from the size of the hunk’s bulge, this enormous, juicy cock which was freely jutting out of his black, leather chaps would sure as hell fit the bill too!
Greg almost couldn’t believe it when for a second he nearly started to reach down towards his own crotch while thinking about just how thick and long it looked. What the hell was he doing? He quickly rolled down the window, taking a few deep breaths of the cold, night air as it rushed inside the speeding car, it had cleared up his head a little. Oh dear, he really wasn’t behaving like himself today. First going off on Chase and now this… Greg knew that what he was doing here was absolutely crazy as he continued driving towards the abandoned part of town, he should try notifying the police instead, but how quickly could they possibly do anything about it? He didn’t want his son spending a single minute more around such seedy types like that hirsute hunk of a brute!
It didn’t take long before Greg began to spot more and more similar looking men, all impossibly furry and just humongous, each with one of those identical, ridiculously huge and thick cigars in their bearded mouths. Once he’d mentioned Tusk, the first one of them that Greg dared to approach, was more than happy to point him towards the sketchy, dark alley that stank as badly of old piss as much as that foul cigar smoke. There, at the very end he was supposed to find The Kennel.
The area was even worse than Greg could have imagined, with only a single lamplight flickering across the whole distance. Even though he hated to pull out his phone in a place like this, he absolutely needed the flashlight in order to make it through this minefield of cracked asphalt, surrounded from both sides by boarded up windows of some abandoned factories and brick walls drenched with ugly old graffiti. If not for a small crowd gathered by the entrance, Greg would have had no idea there was supposedly even a heavy metal club there. There was no sign or anything at all that might lead one to believe there would be anything but a concrete staircase with a rusty railing leading down to some long forgotten basement where they were all standing.
Most of the people there were those same massive, hirsute types that Greg had been seeing on his way here, beefy guts and muscles clad in worn denim or leather gear, tips of their cigars glowing orange in the hazy darkness. But scattered among them he could also spot a good handful of younger guys with long hair wearing their metal band shirts, the same kind that his son would never leave the house without. As he approached the group, Greg had a closer look at each of their faces just to double check if one of them wasn’t Chase. But even though a few of them seemed to casually remember him from the other music venues when he showed them his picture, none could say for sure if he was here tonight, but just like Greg, they all still had yet to try going downstairs.
From the way some of them were nervously glancing at each other, he had a suspicion that he wasn’t the only one having major second thoughts about doing it right now… Greg could feel the eyes of those hulking, rugged men turning towards him as he approached the staircase, his dress shoes clacking on the broken pavement. He looked almost ridiculously out of place among both crowds while wearing his light brown khakis and pastel dress shirt, but somehow even that gigantic bouncer waiting at the very bottom near the heavy metal door was more than happy to let him through once he explained why he was there, telling him to hurry on inside as the show was just about to start in a minute.
Greg had to admit that the place was a lot bigger than what he expected from the outside, it seemed like some kind of a converted basement with a few side corridors and a small room leading to the next, much bigger and wider one with a whole music stage at the end of it! Still, despite the size it was completely packed to the brim with countless sweaty bodies, the smell of which was already making Greg feel almost as dizzy alone as this harsh tobacco smoke which at this point was hanging in the air like a thick fog.
Greg kept on pushing forward, muttering apologies as he squeezed past tattooed arms and mohawked heads, his eyes desperately searching for Chase's light brown hair, his thin frame that would instantly stick out among all those hulking men. Then without any warning whatsoever, all the lights abruptly went off as an excited roar began to well up among the crowd, instantly Greg found himself completely stuck in place as hirsute bodies pressed in on him from all sides while pushing closer to the front. One by one, men began stomping out onto the stage, no doubt members of the band that was performing tonight. Their sight alone was enough to make his stomach drop. They were on a whole other level even when compared to that Tusk guy and the other furry giants he’d seen around the club until now.
“Well, well, well… looks like some fresh meat is on the menu tonight, boys!”
A mountain of brawny muscles covered in silver body hair grabbed the microphone from the stand with a hand the size of a bread loaf and looked across the audience with a toothy, predatory grin. Something about his huge mustache which covered the man’s entire upper lip seemed oddly familiar to Greg, like he’d seen it somewhere before… Maybe his son really did listen to this band… but Greg felt that he would definitely remember them if their lead singer had a habit of performing on stage while wearing nothing but a leather jockstrap and what looked like a policeman cap with a logo of a clawed animal paw instead of the usual badge.
A low rumble of laughter spread across the audience as Greg felt the eyes of everyone who surrounded him focusing on him alone. Those of them who still weren’t smoking were now beginning to pull out the same, enormous and nearly beercan-thick cigars and hastily lighting them up. Then suddenly, the lead singer grunted something into the microphone about getting the party started and with the clang of the percussion plates, all the smoke machines located around the stage began going off at once with a thick, grey fog they produced immediately starting to roll through the whole concert hall.
Greg was so taken aback by its sheer volume that it took him a good second after his first breath, before he realized that something was really off about the way it smelled… he knew it… this was the exact same awful stench this man who told him to come here in the first place had constantly showered him while they talked. Oh god… it was cigar smoke! Greg was already starting to feel queasy again, maybe it was because of how impossibly thick it was, but he could have sworn that the tobacco coming out of this machine was somehow even stronger than Tusk’s second hand smoke. Greg tried pulling up his undershirt over his mouth and nose but that barely did anything at all. He was already feeling so dizzy that even taking a single step forward now required so much concentration just to maintain his balance and keep himself from falling head first against someone’s furry, sweaty chest…
Greg didn’t know why he suddenly let out a soft moan when he pictured it happening to him… it somehow just came out by itself. It couldn’t have been more than a full minute and the air was already packed with so much thick smoke that beyond his arm’s reach, Greg could only see the flickering of lighters and the burning orange tips of the cigars as they were being greedily puffed to life. But oh god… as he looked up at the stage he could have sworn from the way he moved that the mustachioed lead singer had pulled off his jockstrap and was now pleasuring himself while making out with the beefy, musclebound bass player from his own band!
Cold sweat broke out across Greg’s back as he watched the pair in morbid shock, those two, hulking beasts grinding their tough, furry bodies together, only taking short breaks from tongue fucking each other in order to take a drag from their huge, smoldering stogies. Greg did not realize that each time he saw them do it, he was immediately taking a deep inhale of the foggy, tobacco haze himself, absentmindedly palming at the quickly hardening cock in his pants. But even then, he could still hear his own aroused gasp slipping out of his mouth in surprise when he watched the singer grabbing his bandmate’s long, unkempt beard and pulling him down to the ground before shoving his fat, pierced cock right down his gullet!
Something… something seemed really wrong though… even more so than the pair having sex right in the middle of the stage… Greg could see the lead singer playing with both his nipples, but at the same time, one of his hands was also on the back of the bassist’s head, pushing him deeper and deeper down onto his cock. How was this possible? Why was it so big and thick… covered in so much dense hair that almost looked like fur of an actual animal? Suddenly Greg heard a loud snort coming from the side. When he turned in shock, he saw a gigantic, old biker leaning back against the wall while aggressively tearing open his fly. He had a wild, matted beard down to his chest and a fat gut covered in so much grey hair that Greg could barely see any of his tattooed skin underneath. He gave a thin, freaked out metalhead who stood next to him a sleazy grin before exhaling an enormous plume of smoke from his jaw breaker of a cigar as it swallowed his whole face.
The moment that the cloud dispersed short while later, both Greg and the younger guy let out the same, terrified gasp of pure horror in perfect unison. He didn’t know how this could be possible, but somehow the biker’s whole head had been replaced by the feral snout of some terrifying, boar-like beast! Yet even while covered in dense, grey fur, it was still twisted into that same, wide, horny grin with the cigar clamped right between the yellowed tusks protruding from his lower jaw. The younger man’s eyes instantly went wide, he did not waste a second and immediately tried to run, but the other, leather-clad, hulk of a man standing right behind him had other ideas… He grinned as well, exhaling two jets of grey smoke from his slowly upturning nose as he grabbed the helpless metalhead from behind, keeping him firmly in place.
Greg watched in complete terror as the young man thrashed around and shouted for help, his desperate screams joining the cacophony of wild grunts that were already filling the cramped concert hall. The old, fat boar hefted himself from against the wall and began slowly stomping towards the pair, his freed, fully erect and dripping cock bobbing from side to side underneath his gargantuan, furry gut. He pulled out another stogie from the pocket of his leather vest and began to light it up without hesitation while eyeing the helpless young man in front of him.
By simple backgrounds I mean those geometry/gold designs and maybe some props.

basically the result of a random scenario i came up with ages ago that spiraled out of control juuuust a little
introducinggggg. Splice! (it/its) the... i guess you could say love/hate child of Matrix and Alva my favorite toxic yuri/yaoi/whatever the fuck you call it when theyre both nb.
the first and only instance of a common/rare "hybrid", informally dubbed an "uncommon" wubbox. neither alva nor matrix have any idea how they managed to bring splice into existence.
despite its parents' strained and conflicted relationship, splice is well loved and taken care of- spoiled, even. alva is very protective of it, and despite letting matrix visit every now and then, never lets splice out of its sight.
believe it or not matrix is actually a decent parent! a little dumb and irresponsible sometimes but loves their kiddo very much. splice is one of very few beings in matrix's life that they truly, genuinely care about (not enough to stop their horrid experiments, though...)
somehow managed to inherit one of matrix's robot arms in place of its right arm, resulting in splice having to deal with a disproportionately long and hard to control limb from birth. it's lightweight enough to move, and its hand functions just fine, just very unwieldy overall; splice (at least when it's a kid) seldom uses it properly, mostly just letting its arm drag on the floor or keeping it in its mouth.
more drawings under the cut
rough growth chart/ref thing; third pic is its teen/young adult stage! this au is connected to my semi-anthro wubbox universe, so as it ages splice's body gradually becomes more humanoid
(and in case it's barely legible the text in the preteen pic says "matrix went missing when splice was around 10". what do i mean by this?
:] )
more grown up splice! had a silly idea where it retains its arm-chewing habit from when it was a baby throughout its life
i <3 making aus of aus. heres organic au splicey and a peek at human au splice (aka Spencer; haven't really drawn them much yet)
organic!splice is missing an arm, but its prehensile tri-tipped tail makes up for that- manipulation wise, anyways. it prefers to walk on two legs rather than on all fours (or. all threes). as a common/rare hybrid of sorts i guess it'd be the monster equivalent of intersex? inter-rarity? just generally an oddity
spencer was also born missing an arm, so maddox made them some sort of experimental prosthetic (hence the robot arm. it probably looks more normal canonically I just like drawing it as the noodle version). but, no matter how many times maddox (sometimes Alva too) tries to fix or upgrade it, it’s pretty uncomfortable/doesn’t work all the time and spencer doesn’t like it very much. it's kinda just dead weight to them
pictured here is 10-11 year old spencer dealing with the newly acquired knowledge that one of their parents is a wanted criminal and serial killer. poor kid
anyways splicey baby I love you. sorry you have the most shitty parental situation
1.) Is it normal to just randomly think about like 6 random goobers and just not be able to let go of them? Like you imagine literally anything without music or something and just suddenly goobers you would've literary NEVER thought of before?
A couple months ago, my brain decided to just make a bunch of OC's and now I can't not see they every other thought. And it's been like that for TWO MONTHS. Not only that, two of them have names that I never even thought of? Max (Red Cardinal), and Kelly (Blue Garden Snail). And there are others too, but I haven't gotten around to drawing them yet.
2.) This one kinda comes from 1, but have you ever experienced a alter "bleeding" into the front's personality? Like your just vibin and all the sudden you feel like your gonna break down for no reason if you can't answer a basic question when no ones even around to ask things????
The part that I find most concerning for me: WHY ARE THE GOOBERS THE FIRST THING I THINK ABOUT WHEN I GET A BLEED-IN. Literally just vibin in Algebra and all the sudden I barely have the motivation to walk in Gym. And just. Why is there a passed-out anthro lion in my every waking thought now-
THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 2 MONTHS- I've been doing fine with just. Sucking it up and dealing with it.
BUT TODAY IS THE REASON I'M ASKING THESE QUESTIONS.
In Gym, I was pacing along the indoor track, that's like right above the big gym area and stuff, and some kids called out to me with some stupid nicknames like usual.
And Kelly and been bleeding-in that period. So, I was a damn nervous wreck. And wanna know the first thing I thought was during that? ("I don't feel like [Insert body name].")
(". . .")
("WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE-")
So yeah I'm kinda concerned- I can't even tell if it's legit or not cause I have no idea how alter communication or any of that works, or how to distinguish an actual mental voice from just a regular thought. And I would honestly shut down if I actually told anyone in my family about it.
Especially since my mouth just refuses to move when I try to say anything about my current mental health state EVER.
Sorry for going on a rant, I just literally cannot say ANYTHING irl cause my own body won't let me EVER-
Is it normal to just randomly think about like 6 random goobers and just not be able to let go of them?
Normal for what group of people?
If your baseline for normal is Tumblr users and fanfiction writers, then I would guess that constantly thinking about a character or characters is pretty typical given the sheer number of memes about blorbos on this website. Many of those memes imply that the blorbo chooses you, not the other way around, so you'd be in good company.
If your baseline is your local community, then I have absolutely no idea. I probably don't live there.
Personally, we don't tend to jump right to thinking about ourselves with any stimulus. We sometimes do if the thing is particularly linked to someone- for example, Ann's favorite songs always get her attention- but we're generally more preoccupied by thinking about what we want to do, or our own interests, or whatever philosophical debate is on our mind that day. I don't think I've seen much discussion on the frequency of thinking about other system members in plural groups, though. Maybe we should ask about it sometime and see what the range might look like.
Is normality what you're actually asking about?
Some people interpret their mental connections with characters as falling under soulbonding, which is an older community that's largely been sucked under the plural umbrella but isn't always filed as a plural experience. That comes down to the person or people making that decision about what to call it. You may find it interesting to read about experiences in that area.
Some people interpret their brain-sharing characters as fictional introjects (fictives). Some people interpret them as kintypes. Some people do none of the above. Characters are sometimes just characters, even unusually vivid ones. Plenty of writers have characters who act against their will or intrude into their thoughts and still see themselves as completely singular. It comes down to what works best for making sense of it all. Do what works.
There's a paper around experiences of character autonomy in writers that you may find interesting. There's also a website.
Have you ever experienced an alter "bleeding" into the front's personality?
This sounds like you're asking about something called "passive influence", which is when one system member affects another without being in front.
A solid definition taken from Dragon's Roost's definitions document:
When thoughts and emotions that another headmate has about something are experienced by the person at front briefly as if they are their own. May also be called thoughtleak, thoughtbleed, or bleedover.
We experience this fairly often- saying something and realizing that's not something we'd normally say, having an out-of-nowhere emotion, noticing that something is more or less desirable than it usually is, etc. It ranges from subtle to obvious. Sometimes, passive influence is the communication method of choice for a system member that day,
The line between passive influence and switching can occasionally be fuzzy. Switches don't always feel like changing places. They can feel like becoming someone else or like your sense of self is different from how it was before. We tend to experience switching this way and described it in another ask. Switching can also be rapid-fire enough to feel like a sudden hijacking in some cases. Passive influence can also feel like a hijacking of the self. It can feel like someone pasting their brainstuff on top of you. Someone aggressively influencing for a few hours can be hard to differentiate from cofronting or switching.
Sometimes, it's not useful to sort an experience into one category or another- what matters is that something happened.
I can't even tell if it's legit or not
I couldn't tell you either, as plurality is not an absolute, objective state of being. There is no way to prove for absolute certain that your subjective experiences are one thing or another. It's not even a pure binary state (see second and third sections of link).
We really can't tell you if you are plural or not. You have to figure it out for yourself.
I have no idea how alter communication or any of that works, or how to distinguish an actual mental voice from just a regular thought
It's at least a little bit different for every system. There's no one way that alters communicate, and there can be multiple methods of communication within the same system. I'll point you at an earlier ask about how we experience our own voices to give an example of how it can feel, but there are a lot of other ways that this can be experienced.
I know some systems who don't hear voices at all. I know others who only hear "voices" that are better described as images, memories, and emotions that feel "made" or outside of their control. I know others still who do feel a sense of control over alter thoughts even when they totally disagree with them or can't stop them (sometimes because of passive influence, sometimes because that's just how their alter's thoughts feel for them).
There might be a sense of the thought being out of your control or out of character for you, but that's not universal in systems for a lot of reasons. It can just be a helpful pointer if that is something that a system happens to experience.
Especially since my mouth just refuses to move when I try to say anything about my current mental health state EVER
This happens to us all the time, largely because there are a few parts of our system who work very hard to keep us safe. It just so happens that their idea of safety is limiting disclosure. This can be very frustrating, but I'd recommend not forcing anything past that block. It exists for a reason, alter or not. You're more likely to get it to move by understanding why it exists in the first place and respecting the underlying need.
Our own blockers exist because in the past, telling others about our experiences has ended extremely badly. Our family flipped their shit. Our friends flipped their shit. We lost people that we cared about and wound up in dangerous situations. Our friends in the present are much more respectful and supportive, making it safe to tell them, but there's a lot of shame and fear around certain kinds of vulnerability with people because of those previous experiences. It is safe, but it's not perceived that way by the parts of our system who learned that it was dangerous.
The parts keeping us quiet are often trying to prevent other people from hurting us by limiting their access to information. The logic is that they can't lash out at us over information that they don't know, and they can't know it if we can't communicate it. I have to give them credit: it's a very clever and effective strategy, and they have very good justifications for coming up with it.
These same parts are the ones we have to convince before communicating anything. If they feel unsafe, then it's not happening. Forcing past them means that they'll lock things down harder next time. They have a very good reason to do so.
Even singlets use similar tactics sometimes (e.g. via Internal Family Systems) to deal with blockages by working with the underlying feelings or logic causing them. Why is it happening, and what purpose does it serve? Instead of forcing past it, can you respect the reason that it happens at all?
Sorry for going on a rant, I just literally cannot say ANYTHING irl cause my own body won't let me EVER-
I might suggest keeping a journal to get these frustrations out safely. I understand the desire to have your thoughts seen, but we're internet strangers. We don't know you. If you're apologizing for giving more information than you think you should be giving to internet strangers, then you may want to think about setting up some safer outlets for expressing these thoughts and feelings.
A journal is a safe, nonjudgemental place to get thoughts out of your head where you can look at and work with them more easily. It makes it much easier to process your thoughts and make decisions for yourself, and it helps unload emotions before they can overwhelm you. I can't recommend it enough.
It doesn't have to be on paper. There are plenty of digital journaling programs, websites, and apps that you could use if you find that more comfortable. Many of them allow password locks if you're concerned about someone reading your entries.
If privacy is a concern for physical journals and digital journals aren't an option, then I might suggest hiding them inside a math notebook or other decoy. You could learn an alternative alphabet if you want to go the extra mile.
There is no such thing as a bad journal entry. It can be long, it can be short, it can be formatted, it can be a brain dump. We have one entry that reads, "stripper turtle". There's nothing else in the entry. There are no rules except the ones you make for yourself. We use exactly two rules, personally: date the entry, and don't censor anything. It's not for our future selves or historians. It's for us, right now.
HELLO welcome to the Babbit's Blog masterpost!!! On this post you'll find some fun facts about yours allegedly (me <33), some ref's for my different 'sona's, and a couple links to my fics and whatnot! Are you ready? No?? Excellent neither am i let's do this
Meet the Babbits!: the self-inserts/personas
the first ref is for my general/most commonly used persona, Babbit! They aren't really an anthro/furry as much as they are a humanoid with the head of a rabbit. I like to think of this one as the 'me' that's in my head- the purest form of my thoughts and feelings, but not the solid real-life me.
The second ref is my self-insert persona, Rabbit, the one i picture using most often when i'm reading a fic or imagining a self-insert scenario lol. This one is like the me that people see and meet and speak to in real actual life, if that makes sense. It's the way I come across to people and all of the things I wish I could iron out of my crumpled up real-self <3
The third is a much more specific 'sona, Hazel, who started off as a FNaF:SB animatronic self-insert. She does have a backstory and lore now, which i think makes her more of an OC than a self-insert, but a lot of her is still me and a lot of what she experiences in her backstory is from my life/instills the same feelings that were taken away from things that happened to me, so I think she kinda counts enough to put a ref for her here sdkjfsdhfj
(Why the different names?: makes things a little easier, and they hold meaning to me symbolically, I guess!)
Content!:
Here's a short list of my various fics that will get updated as I create more!
(it was, in reality, not fine.): FNaF Sun/Moon x Reader fanfic, gender neutral, for general audiences, fluff-fest, idiots to lovers
"You're the new tech/repairman at the Fazbear Mega Pizzaplex, unfortunately. Your first task? To make the Daycare Attendant into two separate animatronics. It's an amazing opportunity, really, and there is nothing you love more than getting a chance to really work with such tech! The only bad part is that you don't know how to tell anyone that you just might be in over your head. (You are extremely in over your head.)"
After Everything Was Fixed (but you were still broken): AU FNaF Sun/Moon x (Animatronic) Reader, gender neutral, read with caution, angst, harm to sentient robots, traumatized main character, hurt/comfort slow burn, romance slow burn
"The virus was gone. Everyone was fixed. You had been put back together. It's a time for a new beginning, to do things right this time, to wash away the past and paint a better future.
Their memories of the infection had- mercifully- been taken away from them.
Yours had not.
He doesn't understand why you try to avoid him. Even if you could tell him, you're not sure you would. You want to be his friend, but it's difficult; every time you see him, you remember the hundreds of times he killed you."
A fic where you are a repairman-themed STAFFbot, taking place post-virus. In the past, Moon, infected by the virus, took delight in attacking and dismantling the reader during the night. Now, in the present, you find yourself burdened by the memories of the past while everyone around you has no recollection of the events. It gets more complicated as Sun and Moon, both now cleared of the virus, grow curious of you. This fic will follow a series of arcs, presently on arc one. For anyone curious, feel free to send an ask about the arcs in 'After Everything Was Fixed'!
The Sun, the Moon, and the Blazing Comet (title subject to change): AU FNaF Sun/Moon/Eclipse x Reader, gender neutral, teen and up audiences, travel/journey, betrayal, hurt/comfort slowburn, reconciling, themes of breaking the mold, found family
(TBA)
Hold My Broken Hands (title subject to change): AU FNaF Sun/Moon x Reader, gender neutral, mature audiences, dark romance, dark comedy, severe bodily harm, mutilation, murder, obsessive behavior, possessive behavior, lovesick

Whomst the hell?:
HI I'm Rabbit! Or Bones! Or Babbit! Or Avarice/Ava, if you want to go for a more legitimate-sounding name. I'm 24 years old, prefer to use they/them pronouns, and so, so incredibly ace. I've been drawing as long as I've had the ability to hold a pen, writing since I was in grade school, and being a plague to the ones around me since the beginning of time!
If you've seen my art, its probably from the absolute mountain of fluffy-wuffy love-dovey (y/n) x Sundrop/Moondrop/Eclipse doodles I've been sharing for several years now sdfjhsdj. If you've heard of my fics, it was probably the one I made just for fun that's now turned into an actual fanfiction that I enjoy writing, the silly-lovey-fluff incarnate (it was, in reality, not fine.) !
Likes n Dislikes!:
I'm a sucker for sap, fluff, and lots and lots of love-dovey bullshit! I also like stories about finding oneself and monsters being befriended or loved. I like space, aliens, robots, the odd and strange, injecting humanity into things not human, monsters, creatures, animals, the fae, concepts of spirits and karma and the afterlife, and more! I dislike 'fanservice', most anime tbh LOL it's not personal I just don't enjoy it im srry, FLY BABIES i know they have an actual name but i hate that word too pls just dont i will scream, sexually aggressive/forceful content/characters, being made to feel small, dumb, or trapped,
Other!:
I have a pretty high gross-out tolerance! I also have a pretty high 'wow that's messed up huh' tolerance, in that sometimes I will just say stuff that's super grim or dark or messed up and not realize it lmao. I am full of random facts and anecdotes, especially weird or gross ones! sometimes i get on tangents that can go for actual hours so pls forgive that lol
WARNINGS:
THIS BLOG MAY FEATURE CONTENT BASED ON/RELATED TO THEMES OF GUILT, CHILDHOOD LOSS, GRIEF, SELF HATRED, DISCONNECTION FROM REALITY/SELF, TRAUMA, AND SEVERE DEPRESSION/ANXIETY. YES I AM GETTING HELP. YES I AM OKAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.
Ok this have been bothering me for so long like you don't even know and if anyone has an answer to this you're my best bet.
You got any idea what the specific trope/tag for when a non-human creature gets turned into a human is? Cause I've been searching for content on this for a while.
Like sure standard TF is fun and all (especially when the author goes into detail on how the character feels about it, that's what I look for the most in TF content) but I want to see a creature being forced to have the human experience, wether they like it or not doesn't matter, I'm giddily desperate.
I just want to see characters (oc or official doesn't matter at this point, though I would like some fan created content not gonna lie) going full Last Unicorn and the first couple minutes of Equestria Girls (which is ironic now that I think about it, that my main two examples are of equines), is that to much to ask?
My best guess is just using the full phrase I guess, like "feral to human" or "anthro to human" or something, given that most TFs tend to imply a human starting TFee, even for human TFs (though you can always specify searching up "human to human" to narrow that down more specifically in that case).
TFs into gijinkas or 'humanizations' of creatures or whatever also fall under this, so searching up 'Gijinka TF' will probably net you that same field of humans being the TFees anyway. If you're looking for specific kinds of creatures being the TFees that aren't human, for any kind of TF result for that matter (aside from maybe Inanimate TF), you usually have to go the extra mile to search for it.
