“he’s a fixer-upper, skippin supper, hates an obligation” which goes back in time w post-rehab frank, maybe post-divorce, who is taking worse care of myself than he did before. and mel starts packing bigger lunches for herself and always pretends she just added too much on accident because frank is like a wounded animal these days. mel who pretends their outings are spontaneous even though they show an obvious pattern to her (every other tuesday shift, everytime someone od’s, everytime a kid doesn’t make it) because frank gets scared when she asks to plan something in advance with him.
“she’s a friday night” obvi this one is the Sacred “girls night out/the pitt goes to a bar after a shift” and frank spends all night drinking coke and staring at mel, and mel goes outside with frank during his smoke breaks
“he’s a bad dream, nicotine, druggie complication” them sitting in the park or the roof or in his car after one of Those™️ nights. and he can’t put his cigarette down or his hands will start shaking again.
“she’s a peace sign, tea time, drinker on occasion” which is post-marriage day in the life, they take bec and the kids to the zoo, mel has a peace sign in every picture she’s not holding the kids hands, frank makes her tea after they put the kids down for a nap, she has a glass of white wine while they watch bones on the couch and cuddle.
“he’s an east coast, jeans rolled, no communication” this is before-mel, frank who grew up in philly or pittsburgh and he spent high school with a girlfriend he was only going through the motions with and he always had his smarmy smirk on like it was a mask.
“she’s a welcome sign” also pre-frank, mel who always made sure she was home before becca was, mel who worked at a pet store or a shelter and greeted someone with a smile, no matter how awkward it felt, mel who spent high school volunteering at a group home so she could learn how to take care of her sister someday and how to be a better doctor and daughter.
art is painful because i get the idea for an art in a fraction of the second and think it over in a minute, and let's say that gathering various references takes like 6-8 hours total to exaggerate, but when it comes to making it – 200 hours and counting 🥲 redrew that pose 50 times & it still not working right 🤙
I'm rewatching the Willow series (it's pretty much always on as background noise but that's not the point). And I'm on the scene where Kit wakes up Jade to tell her she's leaving. And I realized, right before Kit tells Jade, once she realizes who is there, Jade is smiling, for just a moment. And that got me thinking: has Kit done something like this before?
How many nights has Kit shown up after a fight with her Mom? How often did she see Jade was having a rough day and decide to slip out to check on her? How many night has Kit scared her best friend awake? Sitting on top of her like that rambling off about some future adventure before just flopping over onto Jade's bed? How often did they lay there talking until they both fell asleep?

When his eyes open once more, everywhere around him is nothing but pure sand. It's an endless, monotonous view, dunes reaching the horizon and possibly spreading further. There is nothing else. It's a huge desert, simple, yet beautiful in that simplicity.
But there is no warm air, no sun. Instead, the sky is dark, covered in thousands of white stars and colorful nebulas. It is beautiful, he thinks. There is no doubt about it. But despite how pleasant to the eye everything is, the air itself just feels wrong.
He doesn't need a lot of time to comprehend where he is.
