Self Care is nessisary for Acedemic Success
Small note as we enter finals, midterms, or whatever part of the semester you’re in. Self care, sleep, food, and mental rest (different from sleep) are nessisary for your success. You can not work and be productive every moment of the day. Learning activates a whole different part of your brain than you use normally, so please be easy on yourself. I love university au’s in fan fiction but they often romanticized burn outs or overworking yourself. And that’s not cute. Please remember that is fiction. You can not pull consecutive all nighters and maintain the ability to learn theoughout the week. Trust me I used to work graveyard shifts and go to class 4 days a weeks. Yes I could stay up 72 hours strain and feel fine (I was surviving off of fight or flight mode I was not fine) but the days after when you actually start taking care of yourself and resting your body will shut down and demand you make up for loss time. It’s important you pace yourself and try your hardest not to overwhelm yourself with work as you go through the semester. Chronic amounts of sleep loss lead to health problems like obesity, diabesties, cardiovascular diseases and hypertension, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Okay get this sleep deprivation can be associated to DNA damage. It impacts the rate at which your DNA can repair itself this can increase risks of cancer and nerodegerative diseases. So please for the love of all things good, get some rest.
