The marks on Glass's hands have been there for as long as she can remember. Afraid of what they mean and of what her magic can do, she's done everything in her power never to use that magic again.

Wyn wants nothing more than to be remembered, to do something that matters. For a long time, the Nightwood and its mysteries have called to her. Since it seems nobody is willing to fight the blue thorns that come from it, she takes it upon herself to do so.

Silke travels the continent aboard her ship, the Black Fox, alone with her fox companion Hood. She makes a living from the occasional transport or bounty, and she has no desire for her routine to change.
