So I won’t be posting most of the photos from the ELLE x ZZH magazine! Weibo fans are imploring everyone not to do it as this would decrease the sales of the magazine and so everyone is mostly putting out either very tiny snippets or just posting what has already been posted officially by ELLE. Fans are already yelling and making warnings on ZZH’s super topic on Weibo hahaha
Anyway it’s pretty much frowned upon to upload most of the photos from digital mags and a lot of Weibo fans are also on Tumblr and other international apps - not policing anyone here but yeah it’s a thing 😂 Of course technically doesn’t have a huge impact but oomph, try to minimize it as much as possible because it’s a paid thing - and yes why is this different for mags and say, paid Youku eps right hahaha
Yeah I admit it’s pretty arbitrary, but mag sales are technically a whole different field because mags are a one-shot thing right, and mag sales are immediately visible the next day within 24 hours as compared to like I guess, Youku eps where literally no one frickin knows how much SHL earned by all these small monies - And the logic is that it would affect the star’s chances of getting picked up by more prominent mags in the future, because mag sales are ranked
Instead here’s how to buy the magazine which costs about $1 USD via the Elle Plus app if you’re on iOS (don’t ask me about Android idk haha):
1. Download the ELLE Plus app - Yeah it looks hideous and it doesn’t work very well considering it was unable to handle the ZZH mag sales lmao but yeah this pink monstrosity is what you need
2. This will be the homepage once you successfully download and head into the app - Click on the right-most button that says 我的 (wo de) at the bottom panel, which basically means account - you’ll be prompted to sign in via the usual methods such as WeChat, Apple account etc. if you have those. They’ll prompt you after to input your phone number etc. BUT you don’t have to, on the top right hand corner there’s a button that says 跳过 (tiao guo) i.e. to skip, so you can do that
Then click on the middle ELLE page from the options at the bottom panel
3. You’ll see this magazine immediately (probably) and okay so I already bought it so the red button under the cover image says “Read Now” but yours would probably say “Buy Now” in Chinese, so click on that
The option to come up will be Buy 1 Digital Mag or Buy 6 Digital Mags, just click on the Buy 1 option, and then Apple Pay/ID will come up to confirm your purchase as per usual
4. If you don’t see the buy button, if you look at the bottom image, where I circled and arrowed for the other magazine as an example to show you how ZZH’s magazine will look like if you haven’t bought it (mine is diff. since I alr purchased it) - You can click on that and the same as what I described in the previous step will happen for you to purchase the mag - then just click on the play button when the transaction is confirmed :D
