They never said it, but I write them being as important to each other as a QPR is. They're more than best friends, they're soulmates.

Blackstar wraps up the meaning of his words in 50 layers of irony before saying it,

What he says: "don't choke before the sun sets, russetfur. ShadowClan needs at least half a brain around here."

Russetfur: "ok you big white toad. We'll see if I manage to survive dinner and then check in."

So there's no chance in hell he would ever call it what it really is, and Russet certainly isn't going to push the envelope either. They're both fully aware of what they mean to each other.

An efficient mix of whatever’s in my closet, if I bothered to shave or not, some type of (mis)matching scheme, and comfort, most of the time resulting in the original choice of a random top with jeans and sneakers.

It’s a matter of whether or not we are capable of understanding it. The explanation is there, but perhaps we cannot grasp it at the current time, or maybe never. Maybe some things will make sense to humans, some things will make sense to spiders, others to fish, others to dogs, and perhaps some things about earth that we don’t know yet might already be clear as day to beings not from our planet.
