I really wanna go back to creating manips again BUT for what? Back then I had an Instagram fan account so I had a reason, lol. Maybe I'm gonna start doing them for a few of my stories again, or just for fun. Also, I miss all the accounts who did those fake scene manip edits, it was literally like a fanfiction but with pics 😭 anyone else still remembers those accounts? 🥺
OK, so here is my rationale for why I think Jax was pleased when Tara beat up Colette lol. In season two when Gemma and Tara talk about ima and how Tara needs to “educate” her/other women Tara says that her “fighting days” are over. This to me implies that she fought women in the past over Jax. Then, when tara and ima face off Jax's reaction can be interpreted as smug and cocky. I think he likes the idea of Tara being territorial over him because to him it suggests that she wants him. In season six Jax was upset that Tara didn’t want to see him when she was in prison, and that led him to sleep with Colette. After he found out about Tara‘s plan to divorce him his fear that she doesn't want him was confirmed. When Tara beats up Colette, he’s smug because it reassures him that Tara does want him. Season six lacked a lot of intimacy between Jax and Tara, for the majority of the season, Jax believed Tara didn’t want him. He even realizes that she’s not saying I love you back to him. Tara beating up Colette tells Jax in some twisted way that she still wants him. That's how I always interpreted Jax's smugness in that scene.
Okay so, I rewatched that scene like 4 times before writing this just to be sure about my answer lol. I absolutely love your theory and within the lore of the show it works really well and makes a lot of sense so I see no reason why your theory would't be an actual fact.
I personally never interpreted that scene that way. Not when I saw it for the first time and not after that. If anything, I always thought that Colette's beat up was more of a reassurance for me than it was for Jax lmao. When I first watched I literally let out this massive sigh of relief cause it confirmed for me that she still loved him.
While I believe that Tara beating that woman up definitely played a role in Jax’s seeing that she still loved him, upon my present rewatch, I saw no pleasure on that asshole’s face whatsoever I’m SORRY😭
He definitely looks smug and defiant when he first sees Tara by the door and I stand by my initial interpretation of that facial expression but I don’t see him being pleased with anything that happens after that.
However, as I said, you theory works really well given the storylines and I see no reason why that couldn’t be the truth. If I had interpreted that scene like you from the very beginning, it definitely would’ve spared me that uncontrollable anxiety and disgust that comes with it lol ❤️
here's my jax x tara playlist
