“i’m not trying to underestimate you.”

he’s leaning against the wall to her right, cleaning and sharpening one of his blades. the thought only occurred due to his last job. too many people were in danger. it didn’t sit right with him, and it didn’t sit right to let others get hurt because of his work, his mistakes.

“i know you can defend yourself. i know the damage you can do. i know because i worked for a witch at one point.” he sets the blade down, walking towards her and sitting to her right. mismatched eyes gaze deep into her eyes, and there’s a sense of comfort when he looks to her. a small smile, and he shakes his head.

“i’m aware. but i’m only - trying to prepare you.” a moment of silence, and he casts his gaze off to the side for a quick glance, gazing at the clear skies. “... i, uh... i don’t have the safest line of work. and... i--”

this was harder than he thought... “haeun, i appreciate you. i... find comfort in your presence. i enjoy your presence. i enjoy you. and, uh... i just want you to be prepared.” he looks back at her now, trying his best to keep his smile.

“if anyone is ever endangered because of my mistakes or my jobs, then that is not okay with me. even if you can defend yourself, it is not your fight. and it isn’t right of me. if push comes to shove, if you’re put in danger because of someone trying to get to me... i wouldn’t be able to live with myself.

but i’m going to do everything in my power to make sure it never gets to that.”
