Hey, @soberenough Lookit this handsome devil.
What is your most treasured memory in regards to your mother and cooking/baking? What memory stands out the most for in regards to your mother and cooking/baking, if they are different.

Even in the carefree of childhood days there was always somesort of issue but his mother did well to mask it. She tried her hardest toprotect Rufus from all political influence until she felt it he could grasp itcorrectly. But his father was steadfast on making him grow up and be in tunewith the company, to have mako coursing through his blood on all the decisionshe had to make. He had done his merrywork with Lazard and made sure he was properly placed within the walls ofShinRa. Though he knew that Rufus would be his golden child, one of his bloodand that of Adelia’s,the true heir to the company fortune.
To keep him from all the political messthat was bound to morph her child into his father, she made sure to keep him byher side at all times possible. Adelia’s picture perfect world would bewatching her children grow up in the courtyard of their Junon home, to see thesmall fingers glide across the fountain and encourage them to drop their giland make wishes of abundance.
Instead she found herself in thekitchen to calm her anxiety and that’s where Rufus was seen. Though she wasmindful to keep him away from the bountiful display of sweets, she allowed himto make a velvet cake every year for his birthday. No one had rights to it, itwas all his. He could eat it all at once if he wished and suffer theconsequences of an upset stomach (he only did this once, lessoned learned).
The first time she told him they would makea cake to celebrate his birthday he was ecstatic.
“Now Ru, what type of sweets do youwant for your birthday?”
“I can have anything?” He said, eyeswide. This child was still in the single digits of his life.
“Yes, this is your day.”
There was a pause as the child in whitethought on this.
“Red cake.”
“Red cake?” She only remembered makingit once for the small group of ladies she entertained while their husbandsconducted business in the parlor room. “Did you mean red velvet?”
He shrugged his shoulders and noddedhis head. The shavings on the cake were so delicate and the deep crimson burnedinto his mind that day. He wasn’t allowed to touch or lick the bowl. This was a‘business cake’ which meant HANDS OFF.
It wasn’t overly sweet so perhaps thiswas the reason why he had always enjoyed the flavor. Though his mother hadevery intention to go at this task alone, Ru wanted to help and she allowedhim.
The kitchen was dusted with flour bythe time they were done and the cake turned out a bit flat due to theoverabundance or lack of proper ingredients measuring out. Rufus proved to be abit of handful the way he cracked the eggs and got a few eggshell pieces in thebatter. Or the spilling of too much baking soda.
What mattered was that it installed the first of only thefew years that he would be allowed to do this, before his mother vanished onenight.
He didn’t remember the taste of the first red velvet cake, just the process they did to make it. The sound of her laugh, the way her smilereached her blue eyes. The worry that he often saw etched on her face haddisappeared in that kitchen.
Maybe that was what he was trying to taste when he requestsone for his birthday. The taste of a better era where he can still recall hismother.
"🙋" + thoughts and views of the Wutai-Shinra war. Where does Tsengs allegiance lie?
OOC: Yes I love questions like this. Let me explain to the best of my ability. My interpretation of Tseng is very apathetic regarding the Wutai-Shinra war. Outside from his mother, Tseng feels no connection to Wutai. Wutaian is his first language, but after her death (she died when he was 7) he had no use for it. He had to really adapt to his surroundings in the Midgar slums. This is debatable, depending on who you ask, but I like to think that there weren’t many Wutaians, if any at all, in Midgar. Although Tseng is mixed, he’s not passing so he wasn’t able to breeze by. He’s faced a lot of discrimination and his experiences growing up kinda nudged him into having a very misanthropic perspective about things. My Tseng has a history of criminal activity so becoming a Turk was an easy transition. He has a very ‘choose the winning team’ outlook on life. Becoming a Turk is the best thing to happen to him. He gained discipline and has formed very solid relationships within Shinra.
I HC that Tseng’s first time fully becoming immersed in Wutaian culture was during a mission and the duration of it, he realized how he didn’t belong there either. Even though its a small part of him, he’s not ‘one of them’. It hurt him a bit at first but he’s ok with not really belonging anywhere. Being a Turk is just enough. That’s were his allegiance lies.
Tseng doesn’t like to be asked about his heritage either. He will dead ass pretend he doesn’t understand a word you’re saying if you try to speak to him in Wutaian. He won’t teach anyone if they ask how to say ‘cool words’. It’s a very sensitive and uncomfortable subject for him.
Just dropping by to say that soberenough is one brilliant, authentic, original, and true to canon writer! The take he has on Reno is simply spectacular, and the atmospheric style in which he writes can't be matched. You want old school? You got it.

Opinion on;
Character in general: Which one? But no, seriously, I really love all your muses. Reno and Rude will always be my top two favorite FF7 characters, but Tseng is such a cool character too! I’ve always had a soft spot for the Turks, what more can I say?
How they play them: Perfect, honestly. Reno’s one of those characters that’s a hit or miss in characterization, and ever since I found yours, it has been my favorite. You make him dark, realistic, but also with a sense of humor that doesn’t make him the comic relief. I always love reading all the head canons and stories you write for him! And then the pairing with Yuffie is just too cute it kills me!
And then there’s your Rude .I’ve always liked the guy, but a little secret I am about to tell you is because of your head canons and little bits of writing you have for him, Rude is now one of my favorites. <3 And I know you don’t write him often, but it’s always so interesting to read, so please keep it up! ^^
Finally, Tseng. Okay, so what I really like about yours is that you write him more than just the serious boss man. You make him dark, gritty, and the badass that he really is. Because honestly, he’s a killer and I feel like some people tame down the darker aspects of him.
The Mun: Clearly thinks he can pull a fast one on me But no, you are super nice, and I really appreciate all the memes you send me,so I’ll turn a blind eye to your lateness just this once XD I think you are a great writer. I really love the style you have , since it’s so professional but at the same time has this causal vibe that makes it super fun to read! And I know you’ve mentioned you think you focus too much on the internal thoughts of your characters in your writing, but honestly it’s my favorite part.
Do I:
RP with them: NoWant to RP with them: Would love to one day
What is my;
Overall Opinion: Yet another S Rank blog! ^^
Meta Meme- Wutai war
At the beginning of the war, he is still Xia He Tseng. Not so long from losing the life he was raised for that it doesn't still sting, in all his young pride. The Crescent Unit is glad for him, for his stealth and his skill, and for his ability to lie. He weaves lies like few others have in his time.Wutai's ground is being washed with the blood of its own people, slaughters sending the rivers red until they wash out into the sea. ShinRa is a monster, a beast gnawing at the life they have created and preserved for centuries. It threatens to throw everything out of balance because it is so illusive and so unknowable. Like some great, cosmic abomination. The mission is simple. Undercover. Act as an immigrant who has lived in Wutai his entire life. Xia He Tseng no longer exists. He becomes only Tseng, because there are not always names besides the first in Midgar. Not ones that are regularly traded. He has learned common, forced out his accent under the warning of torture and death. He's become one of them. And with skepticism, they welcome him.Gather information. Cripple ShinRa from the inside. Act as they would expect even if that borders on betrayal. If it means Wutai wins the war, nothing matters. It becomes abundantly clear they won't win the war. It becomes abundantly clear he does not care. Now he is the traitor, the monster. Never to be welcomed back, and never to be treated as his birth designated. There is no room in Wutai for monsters, not with ShinRa in control. There are plenty.
Are you iggsultin' me? How... unkind of you. I am iggsmaculately dressed. A perfect iggsample of fine, proper an' pristine... oh... fuck, yo. This is tirin'. It's iggstra hard ta keep comin' up wit' all these puns. It's iggshaustin', yo. Dude... I need a fuckin' beer.
Well I Reknow of a place that serves an excellent pale ale if that’s what your taste buds should desire.
🥚 - Egg? *when given a weird look, Reno just shrugs and blows smoke in Tseng's face* 🥚 - Egg?
Tseng doesn’t flinch. He scratches the side of his mouth and winces. A minute turns into five before he responds, sitting upright and taking a deep breath.
“Egg...” He nods two times, wrinkling his lips as if he had just discovered life’s well hidden answer.
