I’m new to the fandom and super interested in sonic OCs and want to meet more sonic oc havers! Would you ever consider making a discord— or do any communities like that already exist? I’m always intimidated by the prospect of talking to people on tumblr ^^;

I've definitely considered making one for the blog, because being able to announce new questions and the like might be convenient, and I also really like chatting to people, but I've run into a few snags related to it which is why there isn't one currently.

At the moment I'm just one guy, so I'd need to find some people to help moderate from timezones that aren't the same as mine. UTC+11 is very offset from most people-- I'm usually asleep when most people are awake. And since we're openly welcoming minors to participate, moderation would have to be pretty tight to ensure everyone's safety. Automod tools will help a lot with that, but you really need a few people around to verify that they're doing the correct thing.

Tbh I'd like to throw the question open to everyone following at the moment as well; how much would everyone like a discord running along the same lines and rules as the blog itself?

Thank you so much for all the responses we've gotten so far! I have loved reading each and every one of them. You all have wonderful OCs and I really can't wait to learn more about them.

I'd like to ask everyone's opinions-- my initial plan was a question every 2 weeks, and since we started on the 11th for me, the next question would be due on the 25th which is the busiest holiday period for a lot of people who aren't me. These are the options so far:

Time Sensitive! Would you prefer any of these prompt scehdules?

Publish Question #2 on the 18th, skip the 25th, resume on the 1st

Publish on the 25th anyway since there's no time limit on answering

Change schedule to be weekly instead so all three dates get new questions

Hey guys just a quick note: if you want the blog to reblog your answers, you gotta use the post body, not the tags!

It's cool if you don't want them reshared, keep using the tags if that's the case, but i just wanna make sure everyone knows i'm not ignoring answers. I've been reading everything and you all continue to be very cool and creative people. :)

Also progress on the server is continuing, life threw me several curveballs and I've not had much time to sit and work on it the last couple weeks. My friend's out of the hospital now though, so everyone keep your fingers crossed for him recovering quickly!

Heads up-- new question tomorrow, and I'll be looking into a discord server setup at some point over the next week or two. I've got some IRL business to take care of, so we'll have to work on it in chunks!

Also, I had to update the blog theme because the old one was updated which ate all our customisations + introduced a decent chunk of lag to each page load. The new one was made with Egg Design's Theme Builder! So far it seems pretty lightweight to me, but please let me know if it gives you any trouble.

A bit of customisation couldn't be carried over, but we did get to add Rusty to the corner!
