fun little trivia fact i discovered while talking to alex crunchlax last night

if you give someone the 7 digits of your phone number, but not the area code or the order in which the digits go in. that person has a one in five million chance of calling your phone number.

area codes are three digits long and assuming all area codes from 000 to 999 are valid that leaves 1000 possible area codes to try.

the chances of ordering 7 digits correctly is given by 7! which is 7*6*5*4*3*2*1 or 5040. Roughly 5000.

For each of those 5000 phone numbers they try, they must also try 1000 area codes, therefore the probability of getting the full complete phone number would be 1 in 1000*7! or about 1000*5000 which is 5 million.

for example, if the guesser was able to narrow down the area code to three possibilities the probability that they’d guess your full phone number would be 1 in 3*5000 or 15,000

i did the math and thanks to reply limit it would take you ten and a half days to reply the entire bee movie script one word at a time. Granted that’s typing for ten and half days straight it’s setting an alarm every hour on the hour to get your limit in and then going back to sleep or whatever.

HOWEVER, if you make 56 other primary blogs and can switch between them as soon as you hit reply limit with virtually no wasted time then you could reply the entire bee movie script one word at a time in 2.5 hours*

*assuming an average typing speed of 60 wpm

Y'all complain about geese an awful lot. But in Ancient Rome, geese were considered holy. Geese saved the city from being conquered by the Gauls in the Battle of Allia. The Romans were getting their asses handed to them so the retreated to the city. And the Gauls tried a frontal assault and got owned. So they were going to try a stealthy attack on the Capitoline Hill. But the sacred geese of Juno alerted Marcus Manlius (actual name) by honking and flapping wildly when they spotted the Gauls. Guard dogs didn't even notice them. The geese did though. Geese saved Rome.

The single most helpful math related advice is that if you forget a rule or relationship use some simple numbers to for a test case.

Like if you aren't sure what happens when you multiply exponents eg: e^x * e^(x+1). Grab some simple numbers and do a test case: 2^2 * 2^3= 4 * 8 = 32 = 2^5 = 2^(2+3). therefore exponents add.

This has saved my ass so many times. Just make sure you choose simple numbers and don't choose all two's since 2*2 = 2+2 and you won't be able to tell the difference between multiplication and addition.

I didn't know how deep you wanted me to go because trig's kind of a big topic. So I just stuck to like basic trig stuff. Like if law of cosines or something is kicking your ass I'll add it. So I hope this helped.
