"Oy! ....Girl!" Where was she? He hadn't seen her all day, and it was annoying.. It wasn't like her to just ditch him for a full day without telling him!
She's falling, and gut instinct tells him to reach out.
And so he does, lurching forwards and grasping thin air, missing her hand by mere centimeters. He curses to himself, and then he remembers.
Everything is going in slow motion. He's falling, and his brother's gut instinct doesn't tell him anything. And he keeps falling, wind whistling in his ears, once beautiful wings burning into a dull numbness, and scorching feathers fall with him, creating the illusion that the entire thing is just a dream.
And he clings to the illusion, closing his eyes tight and forcing himself to believe that it's just a nightmare. That his brother wouldn't really cast him out of Heaven, that he isn't really falling ---- that hes still an angel, still joking around with siblings and that nothing has changed at all. He opens his eyes, and ------ ;
"N a t a l i e ?"
She's falling, and he's following her, a vain attempt to catch her before she hits the ground. But she does hit the ground, and -- fuck. He can feel his eyes filling with tears, and he blinks them away. Shakes himself to reality. Pushes the flashback to the back of his mind, into a locked chest, where it should be. Now is not the time to be dwelling on the past.
Quickly, he snaps into action, reaching out to grab her phone and dialing her father's number. Frantic explanations, the promise of an ambulance arriving soon, and a sigh of relief. If only someone had helped him like that, when he fell.
Then he remember's that he's supposed to be the fucking Devil, and he's not supposed to care so much about the teenage brat who tricked him into charity work. Well, at least she's unconscious, so she won't know he's the one who called.
He sighs, straightening up so he's resting on his knees, and glances around. The demon's stalking him had already disappeared; a smart move on their part. He'd have punched holes in them if they'd stuck around. But they don't matter at the minute. He can forget about them, for now.
