Dante’s surprising conversation with the Gay poet Brunetto Latini in the seventh circle of Hell.
“And while this family was watching us, one of them knew me and he seized me by my tunic's hem and cried, "What wonder's this!" And I, when he'd stretched out his arm to me, so fixed my eyes upon his crusted looks that even the charred features could not keep my intellect from recognizing them, and lowering my hand toward his face answered, "Ser Brunetto, are you here?"
“I did not dare to come down from that road to walk beside him, but I bowed my head as one who, walking, shows his reverence. And he began, "What chance or destiny has brought you here before your final day and who is he who leads your pilgrimage?"
"Up there in life beneath the quiet stars I lost my way," I answered, "in a valley, before I'd reached the fullness of my age. I turned my shoulders on it yesterday: this soul appeared as I was falling back, and by the road through Hell he leads me home."
“…Then he turned round, and seemed like those who strip to race for the green banner through the fields about Verona; and of those he seemed the one who wins, and not the one who loses.”
I found this short handful of thoughts by Dr. Phillip Cary from the Templeton Honors College at Eastern University reflects on Canto 15 of Dante's Inferno to be quite moving and humanizing.

The riots began after police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in lower Manhattan. The homosexual agenda is being aggressively promoted all across our country. Politicians at all levels, large corporations, sports teams, the entertainment industry and the…

Text from Isaiah 1. What a perfect description of many conservative Christians, thinking they can oppress the people who God created, neglect the needy, & instead satisfy God with surface religiosity and sermons that gay people are bad.
It turns out these sorts of people are the real "Sodomites" (v10). Who would've guessed.
