Black OC Week

Day One

Secret Requiem  ✴ 25 ✴ birthplace unknown ✴ retired assassin

Kidnapped twice before the age of 2, blinded and raised to be an assassin, Secret has no idea where she’s from, if she has any family or anything past the people who “raised” her. At age 18 she killed those very people, escaping to Limsa Lominsa where she made a new life for herself. She knows it’s only a matter of time before her “family” come looking for her, but she’ll be ready for them when they do.

Sold to Garlemald at the age of 8 by her parents because of her gift with the Echo, Sai absolutely hates when she has to use it. She managed to escape into U’Dah at age 15, where she stumbled into and was then adopted by Raubahn. She has a shaky relationship with the Scions, because while they have been nothing but kind to her, they’re reliance on the Echo takes its toll on her.

Raised in Sharlayan by parents who wanted her to go into a “useful” career like the two of them, Soeli has always felt like the odd one out. They didn’t approve of her spending a majority of her time in the gardens, and becoming a Gleaner was out of the question. When she caught wind that Alisaie and Alphinaud were going to Eorzea, she more or less stowed away, getting seperated from the twins once reaching Gridania. Though she has a bit of White Mage training, her true passion is in botany.

Black OC Week

Day 2

Secret doesn’t know her biological family, who all presumably were killed when the village she was born in got massacred, and most her “adopted family” were killed by her. Because she tends to keep to herself, the closest living being to her is her Wolf Pup, “Puppy”, who she rescued from a river when she first arrived in Limsa Lominsa.

Sai tries not to think of her parents too much, especially now that she has Raubahn and Pipin. They are the ones who nursed her back to health, and taught her the Eorzean language. She feels incredibly indebted to them, and they are part of the reason she works with the Scion, in hopes of making them proud.

Soeli has her parents, Shel and Covva, though she hasn’t spoken to them since arriving in Eorzea. They didn’t approve of her learning botany so they definitely wouldn’t approve of her running away. She figures she’ll get in contact with them once she makes something of herself, and can prove them wrong. In Eorzea, she doesn’t know really anyone save the twins. They got to know each other on the way to Eorzea and they are pretty much the only contacts she has.

Black OC Week

Day 5

Secret does not keep very many material possessions on her considering she doesn’t tend to stay in one place for very long. Most of her valuables are kept in her apartment in the Mist. One thing she does keep on her at all times is her head bandage, given to her by Baderon when he realized the scars on her eyes were driving away potential jobs. Secret didn’t seem to mind, and even seemed used to the negative reactions but he wanted to give the young Au Ra a fighting chance. She wears it everywhere.

Sai has a dress given to her by Raubahn and Pipin for her first birthday as a member of their family. She had never received anything but pain and isolation for her birthday, ad was understandably apprehensive when it rolled around that year. So she was pleasantly surprised, if not confused, when they presented her with the dress that morning and spent the rest of the day spoiling her. It is still her favorite present years later.

Soeli has a book given to her by her older brother a few months before she left Sharlayan. Even though he agreed with her parents that she should pursue something more “worth her time” he wasn’t as loud with his disapproval. His way of supporting her was to give her a blank journal that, as far as her parents knew, she could use to take notes during school. Instead Soeli kept it stowed away, only pulling it out once she arrived to Eorzea where she uses it to jot down all the plant life she’s learning about. There is a page ripped out in the back that she’s written a letter on to send to her brother when the time is right.

Just breathe. A ridiculous request given the situation. Soeli was not a fighter. She was barely a healer. Barely, because theoretically she should have been able to stop the bleeding herself, but her chest was tight. It felt as if she were trying to breathe through a straw. She touched a hand to her side, gasping when she pulled it back to see it covered in blood.

Right. Just breathe.
