An 8-year-old girl was "eaten" by a sofa. She was tidying up her room, wanting to do her mother a favor.
She was standing behind the back of the sofa when it tipped forward; she slid down through a gap between the cushions, plunging head-first deep into the sofa's interior. She became trapped and could not free herself.
Her mother searched the area for twenty minutes before finding her. She tried to pull her out, but the girl was wedged tight.
Finally, she called the fire department.
It took a major effort—including cutting open the sofa—to free the child.
With a swollen foot, the girl recounted what had happened.
All's well that ends well.
