We’re jonesing for Myylo, a Nashville-based LGBTQ pop writer and performer whose latest single happens to be named Jonesing! Get ready to swoon as this dashing up-and-comer spices up our night with his charming doo wop pop, swimming with janky classical guitar, idiosyncratic lyricism, lo-fi saxophone licks, and shimmering harmonies. There’s a 60s aura to his sweet candied, handsome wooing pop that combines saccharine BØRNS with the lyrical cadence of Alec Benjamin, all drizzled with a splash of Bruno Mars swagger. Jonesing was written about the hardships of long-distance dating and the unfortunate acceptance that the relationship won’t work out. Myylo juxtaposes mature lyricism with a playful and whimsical tone, exploring what it’s like to “want a boy who’s just too damn far away”. 2018 was already a big year for Myylo, having penned and performed the Starbucks 2018 National Holiday Campaign. Myylo also supported several major label artists over the course of the year. 2019 looks to be even bigger for Myylo, who stands tall on the back of this ace new tune. Offering some insight into the new single, Myylo explains,“I decided to take a stab at the long-distance thing last year and for a while, I was digging it: Facetiming for hours, weeklong trips to each other's cities, and even the drama and tension of being apart. But, at a certain point, I just kind of realized that things had to fizzle out. "Jonesing" is me processing that against an energetic and whimsical soundscape.” Catch Myylo live on various intimate dates these next few months, including a Sofar Sounds living room show in San Francisco on January 31st.
