“Hey.” She had a rough holiday season and that meant she had been scarce in her friend’s company. With having to hide away from her former boss with her newer employer over the holidays, she had wanted nothing more than to just lay low. Which felt difficult with her profession and living in a massive city, feeling quite vulnerable to it. She hadn’t bothered going back to her apartment to change clothes, leaving her in her work attire that she had decided on that evening and an overcoat to shield her from the cold weather and the rain out. “You called? Do you mind if I stay the evening while I’m here? I haven’t really... felt safe going back to my fucking apartment at night after what happened over Christmas and shit. I already had dinner, though, so I won’t destroy your fucking cabinets this time, you’ll be happy to hear.” Her heels clicked on the floor, checking over her shoulder briefly and fixing her clutch, offering the other woman a small smile. They’d been friends for so long now, she’d lost track- even after they’d lost touch when Sofia moved away and Kiera disappeared for Vegas, they returned to the same page when they met again. One of the few that Kiera was comfortable with knowing her real name, although she avoided the use of it in public. “I brought leftovers, too. We can put on one of those fake as fuck fireplaces on the television and pretend we’re rich.”
