Off The Grid | 18+ to read
Wrote this for the lovely @justabrokenheartedangel , thank you for the idea for this! I hope this is close to what you were thinking of! I’ll probably do another soft Jimmy blurb soon but this is what I came up with for now 💙
Warnings: ( fem!reader, struggling with self care, isolating from others, insinuations of sex, mentions of toxic family dynamics, soft!Jimmy 🥹)
You hadn’t heard from Jim in two days, not since you last saw him at the beach. You thought things were going good between you but the longer you went without hearing from him, the less sure you felt about it. You didn’t want to pry at him if he didn’t want to talk but you couldn’t stop yourself from reaching out a few times to check in.
He never responded. Medina was the one who finally reached out. You got a call from her saying that Jim hadn’t come out of his room all day and she wasn’t sure if he was eating. She could only get small responses from him and he would refuse to open his door.
It was around 5 pm when you got the call. Medina told you that Sandy had been out for most of the day shopping with Phil’s credit cards to buy furniture they didn’t need. You tried not to question it since you’ve seen Sandy’s downward spiral happening for awhile now. It worried you, especially with how you’ve seen it affecting Jim. He tries to hide how it bothers him but he isn’t as good of an actor as he believes he is. You always see when his baby blue eyes are lost in the darkness. Now it was your time to help him find the light again.
You knock on the Masons’ door. Sandy’s car is still gone from the driveway, which is a little bit of a relief since you’ll get to have some time alone with Jim. Sandy always finds a way to shoo you away if you visit him at home when she’s there.
Medina opens the door and you can immediately see the stress etched all over her face. It almost makes you frown but the fatigue in her eyes makes you glad you came. You give her a little smile, hoping to comfort her a little. She returns the smile, even if it’s a small one.
“Hey”, she sighs. “Thank you for coming. I didn’t know what else to do.” She notices the bag of donuts from his favorite place in town. Her smile turns into a little smirk. “You really do know my brother, don’t you?”
Everyone that knows Jim knows that he’s a sucker for these. When his dad moved the last of his things out of their house, you got him these and for a little while, you saw him smile. He said it was because of you being there but you knew the donuts had a big hand in that. You didn’t mind, whatever made him smile again became your favorite thing too.
You chuckle a little. “The way to a guys heart is good, right?”
She grins. “Right.” She opens the door for you to come in. “Come in. He’s.. he’s still in his room. I slid some food under the door awhile ago but I’m not sure if he ate it.” That makes your frown finally make an appearance. You nod.
“Okay…” You step inside and she closes the door behind you. “Hopefully he did…”, you sigh. The idea of him not eating all day makes your heart hurt. Usually him eating isn’t a problem with the weed he smokes pretty often, it made him hungry. You can’t help but wonder why he isn’t eating now.
Medina gives you some space and lets you talk to Jim on your own. She wasn’t sure if he would want to see her right now. You felt for her, it must be hard to see your twin struggling like this. You make your way to his door and place a few knocks on it.
“Medina, I’m fine!”
A little smile crosses your face. Even when he sounds so tired and stressed, hearing his voice is comforting for you. It feels like home.
“Jim?” Your voice is soft, almost hesitant in the way you talk. You hope he won’t be upset that you’re here. You can hear shuffling inside his room, then a few pauses of silence. Finally, you hear him speak again. He sounds a little closer to the door this time.
“Y/n?”
Your smile grows. Even though he can’t see you, you nod. “Hey.” You take a moment to figure out what to say. Nothing you could say sounds right but you have to try. You have to. “I brought Donuts from D Donuts.”
You can hear the hints of excitement in his voice now. “Really?”
Again, you nod. Your smile is becoming warmer and your heart feels a little less heavy now. “Yeah. Uh.. can I come in? If that’s okay?”
There’s a few moments of silence again before you hear his door unlock and the door opens. You see him standing there in a loose white shirt and grey sweatpants. Those grey sweatpants always did something to you. You push those thoughts aside though for now, this wasn’t the time for that.
You see the fatigue, the stress, all over his face and the way he’s carrying himself. It makes your heart hurt. Your smile is full of empathy as you look at him. You hold up the bag of donuts.
“I got all your favorites.”
His nervous baby blue eyes soften and he smiles slightly. “You’re the best” That makes your heart warm again.
You glance past him and see a sandwich on his desk. Untouched. He hasn’t eaten. You hope that maybe he had some secret stash of granola bars or something to keep him sustained today.
“Can I come in?”, you ask softly.
“Yeah” He nods, stepping back and allowing you to enter. You come in and close the door behind you. You try to avoid your gaze lingering too long on anything but him. You don’t want him to feel self conscious. His room is a mess. It’s not usually a mess since he doesn’t often spend much time in here. Whatever free time he has away from his mom goes toward Medina, surfing, and you.
You walk over to his bed and sit down, putting the bag of donuts beside you. He comes over to you, his steps slow and tired. You pretend to not notice it and give him a little smile. He sits beside you and sighs, rubbing a hand over his face.
“I’m sorry I didn’t text you back, or call you.”
You immediately shake your head. “It’s okay. I.. I hope you don’t mind I’m here.” Your eyes search his for any clue of what’s going on. He smiles slightly, looking back at you.
“I never mind you being here…” Then his tone turns a little teasing. “And you brought food so it’s all good”
You laugh a little. You’re not even offended, you’re just happy to see him feeling good enough to tease you.
“Yep.” You pull out the box of six donuts, one of each of his favorites. His eyes widen as he looks them over. “I know the drill.”
He grins and opens the box. He takes a few moments to decide what he wants before going for an apple cinnamon donut. He takes a bite out of it and some of the apple flavored custard spills onto the corner of his mouth. You wait a moment to see if he notices but he’s too blissfully unaware as he enjoys the donut. You bite back a chuckle and gesture to your lips.
“You got something right here..”
His eyebrows furrow and he goes to wipe it off but he wipes the wrong side of his mouth. Finally a little giggle slips from your lips. “The other side, babe.”
“Oh!” That makes your laughter grow. He wipes the other side of his mouth, getting the custard off. But then some of the custard spills out from the donut again and lands on his grey sweatpants. You gulp, trying not to stare. Your lips part a little to speak but nothing comes out. He notices the look in your eye and chuckles, a little lost. He knows that look but he doesn’t know why it’s there.
“What? Is me eating donuts hot or something?”
You take a breath. “No. Uhm..” You glance down at his sweatpants again. “You.. you have some on your pants.”
This time his ‘oh!’ is calmer.. and you could’ve sworn that his voice sounded a little huskier. He glances down at the custard on his lap before looking back up at you. His gaze is daring, seductive even. His baby blue eyes are darkening for an entirely different reason now. “Whoops.” He says casually, shrugging.
He takes another bite of the donut and this time he lets another drop of custard fall onto his lap. Your thighs clench together a little as you try to ignore the pit of arousal forming at the thought of how you want to clean that off of him. You take a deep breath, which makes him smirk a little.
He starts taking his pants off, making your breathing slowly get heavier. You don’t know whether to be respectful and not stare, or to give into the voice in your head telling you to enjoy the view.
Jim breaks you out of your train of thought as he puts down the donut and pulls you into his lap. His lips meet yours and you eagerly return the kiss. He whispers against your lips, his voice undeniably huskier now. “Thank you for coming here.. I didn’t mean to ghost you. I just… I feel like I can finally breathe.”
You frown, knowing what he means. “Cause your mom isn’t here?” He nods, planting a few kisses on your neck. To distract himself and maybe even to distract you. You lean your head back a little, giving him more access to your neck. Little moans start to spill from your lips. He lets out a satisfied hum.
“Oh I missed hearing that..”
“Mm..” You give his thighs a little squeeze, moaning softly. “I missed this too”
After an hour of pleasure for the both of you, you’re cuddled up together on his bed. Sandy texted Medina that she would be out with some of the women from the country club so she would be back late. That gave you and Jim the perfect amount of time to just enjoy each others company. Jim is feeling a little clingy after how good you made him feel and from missing you these last few days. You’re happy to give him all the cuddles he wants. He pulls a blanket over both of your heads so it’s just you and him in your own little world now. You giggle, giving him a few quick forehead kisses. He’s adorable like this.
He smiles warmly at the forehead kisses and snuggles up a little closer to you. He’s always warm. You wonder if it’s because of how much time he spends in the sun. You’re not really sure but you always appreciate his warmth, especially when it’s cooler outside like tonight.
“I love you, Y/n”, he mumbles into your chest. Your smile grows, your eyes crinkling at the corners a little from how content you really are. “I love you too, Jim. So much. Everything is going to be okay.”
The rest of the night is spent watching comfort movies, with the occasional episode of shitty reality TV to keep things interesting. Jim had a thing for one of the Kardashian’s but he would never tell you who. It amused you seeing him try to act like he wasn’t affected whenever you watched it.
“You know I have celebrity crushes too, right?”, you tease.
He looks up at you with a slight pout, huffing. “What? Like who?”
You pause for a moment, debating whether to tell him or not. You could brush it off like he always does with his celebrity crushes, but you decide not to this time. You smirk a little.
“Ever heard of Cody Fern?”
