Shura blinked in surprise, caught completely off guard as Rin threw his arms around her. The kid was always full of energy, but this? This was new. Her first instinct was to shove him off and bark at him for being so impulsive. But she hesitated.
"Oi, what the hell are you doing?" she said, her voice gruff but lacking its usual bite. Her arms stayed at her sides, as if refusing to participate in whatever this was. As Rin's arms remained, she slowly let herself settle into it. It was overbearing, desperate, or clinging. It was warm, genuine and oddly innocent. Something about it threw her off balance, and after a moment, she sighed.
“Damn kid,” she muttered under her breath, lifting one hand to pat his shoulder with all the grace of someone trying to fix a situation they didn’t understand. It was awkward, but it was something. She lightly tapped him a couple of times before dropping again.
"Don’t make a habit of this, got it?" she muttered, her tone gruff but not harsh. A faint smirk tugged at her lips, betraying her attempt to sound indifferent. "You’re lucky you’re you, kid. Anyone else’d be flat on their ass by now." she added, her tone almost teasing now. A faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips despite herself, though she made sure not to let it grow.
She stood there for another second, unsure whether to end it herself or let Rin decide when enough was enough. Deep down, she supposed it wasn’t so bad. It was just Rin, after all. If anyone could get away with it, it was him.
