hello :) wanted to express my gratitude for your very nice tags on the moodboard ♡ - softashton xo
hello hello :) @softashton
of course!! it's such a lovely moodboard! not just the ash pictures which are absolutely precious but the other ones you picked! my favorite is the one with the heart shaped pancakes, i think that's something ashton would make <3
oh my god i used to pester my sister into watching some of it too and then it just became 'the dead people anime'. is umineko still good though?? bc i've managed to procrastinate watching it for like 4 years oops
umineko is confusing as heLL but i guess it’s good? it’s more brutal, i think, and to fully understand the story you’d have to play the sound novels (which i never did lmao) but the anime is entertaining, at least... i dont remember if it had a conclusion tho? like how everything is wrapped up at the end of higurashi
ARE YOU SERIOUS DUDE I WAS SO !!!!!!!!! OBSESSED W/ IT BACK IN MY ANIME DAYS, LIKE I MADE MY BROTHER WATCH IT WITH ME AND THEN I WENT ON TO BE OBSESSED WITH UMINEKO AS WELL (THO HIGURASHI WAS BETTER IMO)
The first time it happens Ashton hasn’t really be having a really good day. There’s not really anything specific that makes it that way, just that it’s another day of dragging himself out of bed to go to school, another day of being ignored by all of his peers (except for the ones who seem to find great joy in shoving him against the lockers when they storm past him), another day of not really fitting in, of not really feeling at home.
So when he gets home he does the first thing he ususally does when he just wants to escape for awhile: he grabs his laptop and goes to Tumblr.
Ashton prides himself on having a pretty decent blog. It’s not really anything specific, just reblogs whatever he likes and post pictures of things in his enviorment. Apparently he’s not as bad at taking those as he thinks he is, because he has build up quite the following over the years. It’s not that much, especially not compared to other users, but it’s something, and Ashton appreciates that there’s plenty of people out there who seem to like his blog enough to follow it.
He never gets a lot of asks, which means it’s a surprise when he opens his browser and sees the little ‘1′ next to the tiny envelope. Curiously, he clicks it, to find a single message, from someone who decided to stay anonymous.
‘hey, i’m new here and i don’t really know how all of this work, but i just wanted to let you know i really like your photographs and that you seem like a really nice guy. -L’
Ashton smiles, replies with a simple ‘thank you <3′ and spends the rest of his afternoon reblogging pictures of cats. The comment stays with him though, like a tiny silver of light on a dreary day.

There’s a new one every day. Sometimes it’s just a simple ‘have a nice day today!’ or ‘the sun is shining here, it reminded me of you’ and sometimes it’s just stories, about this ‘L’s life, about what he did during the day, about people he met or used to know.
Ashton likes it, likes that there is a stranger who takes time out of there day every day just to talk to him, that there is someone who shares stories with him and wishes him a nice day. Despite the fact that he has no idea who this ‘L’ is, not really at least, it feels like they’ve become friends.
It makes the school days a bit more bareble. Knowing that there is someone out there who is his friends, even though they hide behind the anonymous function. Ashton has thought about asking them (he’s pretty sure it is a him, from some of the stories they have shared, but he can never know for sure) to come off anon, but he doesn’t want to take the risk, too scared it will scare L off.
And even though Ashton really wants to know who this ‘L’ is, he would like to keep his friend around even more. So he doesn’t ask.
Halfway through the school year, there’s a transfer student. Ashton’s from quite a small town and this doesn’t really happen a lot, especially not in the middle of the year, which is the only reason Ashton even knows about it. He’s a year below Ashton, but he’s about as tall as his shoulders are wide and he has blond hair styled up in a quiff and bright blue eyes and a lipring and Ashton has never really understood people who talked about love at first sight, but maybe now he does.
They meet in the cafeteria, while Ashton is trying to take a picture of the dreary, empty school yard. The boy taps his shoulder and looks at him with his blue blue blue eyes and asks if it’s okay if he joins Ashton. Ashton nods, barely abble to bring out words, and the boy sits down.
They talk, about school, their friends, about moving and Ashton can’t help but feel like he has already heard some of the stories the boy tells him, he just can’t quite seem to place him. He shrugs it off and enjoys just talking to the boy. He’s actually having quite a lot of fun and it isn’t until the end of lunch that he realizes he’s never introduced himself.
“Oh shit, I forgot, but, uh, I’m Ashton.” He awkwardly sticks out his hand, which the boy immediately takes with a smile on his face.
