Soft Lions are back with a nimble new single “Run in Dreams." 

The San Diego based trio perfect their potent mix of twee pop meets post-hardcore (with a pinch of surf-psych) on their new track. Wiry guitars creep above a propulsive bottom end while competing with vocal harmonies & humming keys on the summer fresh breeze of "Run in Dreams.”

The further Soft Lions (Megan Liscomb/guitar&vox, Ana Ramundo/keys, Jon Bonser/drums) get into their run, the more confident they sound, so here’s to another summer bummer……

Pretty girls make waves..... 

San Diego's self described “moody, psych, post-riot grrl noise” unit Soft Lions should soundtrack your next journey home from O.B. back to North Park. The aptly self-glossed group finds a firm middle ground of menace and retro rave-up. 

Melding the post-hardcore prowess of Pretty Girls Make Graves with a thick beach bummer haze, "Waitress" is a 3:26 slice not-so docile guitar pop. A crimson filter and psychedelic projections paint a fitting background for the members of Soft Lions to cut loose.

Best of 2015 - San Diego Bands:  Soft Lions @ Casbah July 16, 2015

My favorite band in San Diego for a couple years now has been Soft Lions.  I was fortunate to see them in their debut show at the Soda Bar at the end of 2013; I saw them again the next year opening for Small Black and Snowmine, and then again this past summer at a headlining record-release show at the Casbah.

While Soft Lions is just a 3-piece (guitar/keys/drums), they can really make a racket when they get going.  The band can go from glam/garage fury (”Soft as Lions”), to a 60′s reverb-drenched surf vibe (”Thx 4 the Sanctuary”), to almost heavy metal riffing (”No Peace”); all while guitarist/singer/songwriter Megan Liscomb belts out her confessional and clearly heartfelt lyrics.  But Liscomb and company can also dial it back and create a moody, more chilled out atmosphere.  Songs like “Diary” and “Phantom” bring an emotional depth that shows they are interested in more than just rocking out.

Soft Lions have released three EP’s so far: No Peace (2013); Earth Energy (2014): and Spellbreaker (2015).

[I can’t help sharing this: as I wrote this piece my daughter (who went to the show with me along with her sister and a friend) walked by and I showed her what I was writing.  She said she liked it and then remarked, “Oh, look what I’m wearing!”.  It was the souvenir shirt from that very show.  Go figure!]
