To the girl, In the red dress who caught me looking The girl who looked even more beautiful A week later When I saw you again This time in combat boots and camo jacket The girl with the close cropped hair And the blinding smile How would you like to catch me looking Every day?

you ever just get your own poetry stuck in your head and you're like Damn that was good poetry like: "i want to have skin as thin as air and lips at least as soft as you i want my body to bloom like a bouquet and rise like a rose that you drew" like .... i'm screaming... how did i write this ? it's full of end rhyme and internal rhyme and alliteration and the slipping and playing with iambic and dactylic metres is so lovely: the first stanza is Mainly iambic quatrameter BUT it's got one dactylic foot "to have skin" but that gets picked up and almost overridden by "thin as air" but it still works and still fits because the second stanza is mainly dactylic quatrameter EXCEPT for the first two iambic feet "i want my bo(dy)" so there's no clear divide it just slips into it and anyway you can then go on and read how this is so indicative of the poem and how it emulates a self-love and a romantic love for someone else as situated in a trans body, and how one plays off the other, and the twisting of the natural images to thread the two together as one expression of trans love and the trans body anyway i'm a nerd and a strong believer that you should be your biggest fan/your most avid reader when it comes to your own work
