Bec acting as a test run for the concept of a lusus is a fun quirk of homestuck's on the fly writing. could also be argued as evidence jade and karkat are character foils since the trolls first interaction with adult mentor figures that would lay the basis of their understanding for "parents" were the two entities that, in the humans game, fuse into bec noir. and also hes a good dog
solrezi in any quadrant is already kind of a rarepair for some reason, but i wish more i saw more ppl talking about how sollux has so few positive relationships with anyone but every time he talks to terezi its really genuine friendly banter. its also really sweet how he trusted her enough to go to her for help immediately after a majorly traumatizing event and she was genuinely nice about it despite also being highly stressed at the time. sollux is rarely as hostile to terezi as he is to karkat or aradia even though he cares significantly about them too.
also the way that the actual writing of the gossip posting informs alternia as not just an inherently polyamorous society, but as a forced polyamorous state, with very rigid expectations and how... polygamnormativity? i guess???? effects social relations and structures. kalian is disdained for being slutty, marvus is an oddity under constant scrutiny for only having one partner, luxora is obviously using amargo for something. its good.
like making the violetbloods be embroiled in social media drama and in part publishing that through an in character account of a gossip rag journalist whos also just been personally scorned by the centerpiece is genius. you get to drip lore and designs as lead-up to the game coming out in a way that feels natural, which is what the homestuck fandom thrives on, AND its an interesting continuation of homestucks long standing satire of online social dynamics. some of the interviews on jerann's blog also inform us of where characters might stand in relation to the empire/the rebellion, and about alternian society as a whole. i don't believe its been explicitly mentioned before that alternia is post-scarcity? it makes sense considering its essentially Baby Jail but that plus the disscussion of how the caste system is upheld by replacing material necessity with social clout and punitive legal measures paints a really interesting picture of both class structure and the basis for class solidarity on alternia.
he is just like me at 14 for real (transgender & doesn't understand it yet)
