Sleepless Serenity

The serenity of existing in a sleepless trance 

Where time has no bounds, and life has no meaning

Contemplation and imagination fuel the unceasingly restless sedation

The pale moonlight shines as if through an opalescent curtain

Into a vacant room where thoughts are dark and clouded

Devoid of love and feeling, numb to the stillness of the biting cold

The mind slips back and forth between reality and the endless possibilities

Never quite dreaming, as the strained beating of a bloodstained heart fills the silence

In steady time to the shaky breathing of a troubled soul

Where once was love, incomparable and unconditional

Now is a cripple of a memory, a mere fragment of space

A place where none can reach, forgotten, and forever lost

Slowly the tides turn, the moon wanes, and another day passes

Yet no movements or signs of life remain, as the air scatters the ashes

And a sleepless soul transcends beyond into the next dimension

Ready to Go

How many before me have you sought

Why should I stay, and pretend I'm something I'm not

Even the coldest of nights and darkest of days

Share a common purpose in the heart of this world
