Will is sick of sticky fumblings in the dark after nights in bars with men who only want to fuck him. He decides he wants to feel what the feel. He decides to find someone to play this out with, even if it means paying someone. But the boys on the corner are too sad or scared and he can feel every awful thing wrought upon them by the men who buy them and use them. So he turns to a high end escort service and he chooses Hannibal because his eyes say nothing. Will is intrigued.
(incomplete - if anybody wants to add more to this, feel free.)
When Will meets Lecter, he has to stop himself from showing on his face how excited he is about being his next client.
Lecter is completely unemotional, all professional, and Will finds it freeing not to feel any empathy for somebody for once. He doesn’t even speak to the man before returning to Chilton’s office.
"You like the foreign one, don’t you?" Chilton asks somewhat judgmentally, as if Will is totally predictable.
"You are the one who picked him for me, Frederick. What do I need to know about him?”
Chilton smiles and shakes his head. “He’s my best. He has a scar on his left hipbone, but he wears it proudly so if you make a fuss about it—he won’t listen to a word you say. He doesn’t do threesomes and he’ll only stay overnight if you pay an exorbitant amount of money. He’ll want to have a meeting with you to discuss everything else before you ever do anything, understand?”
"I understand. When can I meet him?"
"Right now if you’d like. I can call him in here."
When Lecter enters the room, Will knows he's unlike any other sub (at any price) even though this is his first experience at this sort of thing. The man is poised and confident, but there is a quiet joy in his demeanor almost as if he's secretly laughing at everything happening around him. He immediately goes to shake Will's hand and takes a seat without permission.
"How are you doing today, Mr. Graham?" he starts without prompting.
"I'm excellent. I believe this could be the start of a great friendship." He smiles, and it's genuine, but in the same way a child is genuine when they accept a gift they asked for.
Lecter turns to Chilton. "Frederick, would you be so kind as to lend us your office so we may discuss our business transaction?"
"Of course, Hannibal," Chilton responds with an edge of sarcasm, but he gets up and leaves immediately.
"You're new at this," Lecter says once they're alone.
"I am. That doesn't mean I need you to coddle me."
"I wouldn't dare, Mr. Graham. What are your terms for this arrangement?"
"My house, twice a week. Be there before I get home from work and stay until I want you to leave. I won't ask you to stay the night. And just...do as I ask."
"Yes, sir. I am, of course, here to serve you. And I can't wait to get started."
Their meeting is brief and to the point, and once everything is settled they shake hands on it and Lecter--Hannibal, he told Will to call him--leaves, Chilton comes back in and sets up all the paperwork.
Will smiles wide on his way home and dreams about dark eyes and plaid suits that night.
